I went here on the Monday after Christmas and surprisingly we were seated right away at 11:30 am for half price sushi day. The food in the photo were some of the variety of sushi rolls they have. 2 of them –top of photo –were new on their menu– ménage a trois and firefly. I cannot describe in words just how tender and flavorful the rolls were. The rice was spot on, not too much and perfectly cooked. They were both spicy and each came with eel sauce and a spicy mayo or wasbi mayo on top that just further enhanced the flavors. If you have not been here before this is the week. Half price sushi Tuesday to Friday and as always half price Monday and all you can eat Wednesdays for 25.00. The staff are nice, attentive and very helpful. They will find or order you a roll off the menu if it’s not out on the retro sushi conveyer belt. Tanoshimimasu(enjoy)

Excellent and Fresh Sushi! Made to order and served on a conveyer belt! On Mondays, they offer half-priced sushi which is a great deal especially for the downtown location in Armory Square. My favorite is their fruit sushi normally $ 12 but only $ 6 on Mondays. The place is great for groups. Perfect for enjoying a quick bite during lunch or for happy hour after work. Today was my first time with sushi that wasn’t perfect. They inquired, took it away and didn’t charge me for it. Service is quick and friendly. They are quite attentive even on their busy nights on Mondays and Wednesdays for all-you-can-eat for $ 25! I’ll be back next time I’m having a sushi craving.

Half price all-you-can-eat conveyer belt sushi on Wednesdays($ 25). Sake and beer were available. There wasn’t a huge variety of sushi, but enough that it wasn’t boring. Overall, a fair deal for the«experience,» but cheaper all-you-can-eat sushu options are available in the Syracuse area.

Although cheap, this was very disappointing, soggy sushi, which makes me sad. I guess you can’t expect too much from a sushi conveyor belt. :-(

I came here last Monday for ½ sushi and overall was pretty pleased with the experience. We were seated right away and immediately began scoping out all of the different sushi dishes on the conveyor belt. The Good Food & Service Overall, the sushi was pretty decent. I wouldn’t say it’s the best I’ve had in Syracuse, but for ½ off, it was totally worth it. I also was a little skeptical of the whole«conveyor belt» experience since you didn’t know how long the sushi has been out for. But the sushi tasted fresh and was being replenished constantly throughout our meal. The staff was also very accommodating and seemed willing to make new dishes, if they weren’t on the belt. Price I’m not sure I would go here if it wasn’t ½ off Mondays or All You Can Eat Wednesdays. The prices seemed to be a tad higher than some other local places, but that also could be because they factor in the conveyor belt experience. The Bad Atmosphere/Décor I have to admit, i’m not a huge fan of this restaurant’s décor. It sort-of reminded me of a spaceship and I thought the music was a bit too loud, but I still very much enjoyed the experience. They also have a sit-down restaurant next to the one with the conveyor belt, which I think might be more my style. Parking As with all downtown restaurants, parking is always a challenge… Overall, I would definitely recommend this place. It’s the only Sushi restaurant in Syracuse with a conveyor belt and a fun experience if you are looking for something different for date night.

Super cool environment, you chose which dish you want from a conveyer belt, prices go by plage color. You can also order from the menu, prices are reasonable and sushi is delicious!

Definitely worth checking out the Weds All You Can Eat for $ 25 or ½ price on Mondays Highlights — Syracuse’s only rotating sushi conveyor belt — Good quality sushi — Ask for the all you can eat menu so you can decipher what you’re actually eating from the belt — If you see something on the menu, but not on the belt, you can request it — Sashimi Bowls can be requested :) Downside — Limited seating option — No reservations — can smell fishy, if that bothers some people — will seat once entire party has arrived — policy is not known to all of staff because we got seated and then asked to wait again in waiting area until friends arrived. May have changed now

Very disappointing compared to other visits. Food on the conveyer seemed like it had been there a while. Deep fried items were cold and greasy. Quality seems to have slipped.

Great place to bring folks that have not tried sushi and want to test it. Half price Mondays work well for that. Get there early!

I went here on Monday with a group of friends for their half priced sushi deal that they run every week. It was an absolutely great decision! While the restaurant is on the smaller side, our party of five got seated relatively quickly, and we had a wonderful meal. The restaurant offers a wide variety of sushi and rolls that were all simply delicious. I ended up getting what would have been normally a $ 25 meal for $ 12. The waitstaff is friendly and your order came up very quickly. I will definitely be coming back here!

Eh sushi at best. The conveyor belt half price sushi night is always cool, but honestly all the rolls are fried. Only so many variations of shrimp tempura that I can really handle in one sitting. Def not a bad place, but not the best sushi I’ve had.

Old sushi, crummy rice, and barely any on the conveyer belt. The spider roll was nasty, the soft shell crab tasted old, barely had any meat, and was terrible quality. I took out just the«soft shell» crab part, and it was so tiny and dried up, and didn’t have any crab flavor. The tuna tartare was ok, and was a good balance against the mango. All in all a pretty pricey place that offered bad sushi.

This restaurant has two different rooms and two different entrances. On one side they have the sushi train and you sit on stools in front of the train. On the other side they have table seating. We arrived with four people and there were no four stools together. So we exited and entered on the side where you sit at tables. The food was fine and the service was quite efficient. It was nothing fancy but it was exactly what we were in the mood for — standard Japanese. Sushi and sashimi!

All of the sushi was great! You can order specific items as well if they aren’t out. Things are made very quickly and everything tastes fresh. About 4 pieces of a roll come on a plate and you just stack your plates. The only hard part is that it’s packed and there are people waiting to be seated and so you have minimal space to yourself. Don’t bring a big bag!

I came for the $ 25 all-you-can-eat sushi on Wednesdays and I was not disappointed! It is a conveyor belt full of sushi, desserts, edamame, and sashimi on colorful plates. Each colored plate represents a dollar amount, ranging from $ 3 edamame to $ 12 specialty rolls. I had 2 glasses of merlot and watched the sushi go round and round and thoroughly enjoyed myself. They place new rolls every 5 – 10 minutes and make sure to spread it out so people in different areas can have access. The only downside to this sushi bar is that it is very small. It’s a little cramped and I’ve seen the wait times exceed more than a regular 20 minutes. However, definitely worth the all-you-can-eat on Wednesdays or half priced sushi on Mondays.

My experience may be a tad skewed because I was here only for Restaurant Week or whatever Syracuse calls it. It was $ 25, all you can eat, which mirrors what they do each and every Wednesday. ‘Cuse, what is wrong with you? There were empty spots at the bar, many of them in fact, during Restaurant Week when I was there. Those were NOT on Wednesdays, except for one of them, which was unsurprisingly packed. Anyway, shame on you for not going out in droves when they ran their special every single night for two weeks straight. Yah yah, it was cold and all… but STILL! Although I’ve seen the sushi conveyor belt in action before, I always thought the fish would be sub par at such a restaurant. Not at Sakana! The tuna was a vibrant purple hue and the salmon was the perfect color and texture. The talented chef behind the counter was very skilled and quick with getting out round after round on top of taking special orders for things that weren’t already on the belt. My favorite was a mango/krab roll surrounded by kiwi and strawberries, I can’t remember a time I had the fruit so wonderfully presented along with the roll itself. All the times I visited and only ever saw one go by me so I grabbed it. Sure, it’s not the highest quality with the«krab» inside but dang, it was delicious in the dead of winter. Edemame whizzing by along with seaweed salads. Is that a plate of sashimi scooting past me? Score! Although that was a tad rarer to see, like the mango roll. The only thing I didn’t seem to enjoy all that often were the gyoza. It was tough after sitting out for a few passes around the belt. The value to quality ratio, especially for«all you can eat» is what brings this review a solid and well deserved 5 stars. The waitress was very friendly and talkative, even if her broken English had me asking what she said a handful of times. Solid restaurants in ‘Cuse are kind of tough to find but this is not one of them, great job Sakana.

Overall it was amazing sushi but here are just some small things I noticed: –I believe it was my age that kind of made me feel not as welcome, there was a glare as we entered. –Waiter made me feel that I was asking outrageous requests but they seemed normal to me. –The sushi was amazing but every roll had a similar taste and even the rice bowl tasted that way –Me and My GF ate until we were full and the bill for both of us was 28(½ $ Monday) we did have 2 special rolls for 6 each and a mochi desert.

We went at an odd hour after visiting the MOST. Service was fast and friendly; however, there was no sushi on the conveyer belt when we arrived. Probably because of the time. It was disappointing because my daughter loves getting her sushi off the belt as we did in WA. We ordered from the menu and everything was brought out quickly. The hot tea was room temp. Don’t recommend this mango roll they had but do recommend the cupcake roll. Spicy tuna was average. Edamame needed to be steamed a little longer.

LOVED this place. The plates are perfect for sharing. You get a couple bites and get to move on! They were really fast, friendly to our toddler and amazing all around! Tasty sushi… plus they have amazing specials like«half-off» and 25 $ all you can eat… For great sushi that is a GREAT deal
