This was my first visit to the Pale & Bucket Pub. It is a suprizing place on the inside, considering the neighborhood. It has a very plesant atmosphere. Very friendly and helpful bar staff. The manager was quite welcoming. I had arrived on a Sunday afternoon to check out a small Pinball Tournament they had going on. It was a small turn out, which is okay for their first such event. There could not have been more than a dozen people there, including patrons, and employees. The menu is quite creative and looked pretty interesting. Unfortunately, I did not partake, since I just had a late lunch. The food and drink prices were not what you should expect for a pub outside of Armory Square and Tipperary Hill. I am looking forward to coming back and spending more time. I will have some drinks and order off the menu, when I can bring more money. I will write a proper review then.

Very nice place to sit down and have a drink. The wings are excellent but I wasn’t hungry enough to have a full meal. I’ll be going back to find out about the cooking asap.

I can’t believe I haven’t written a review yet. This place is great. It’s like someone put a suit and tie on the old Westwood. Just kidding, it’s only pajama jeans. Seriously, the food is really good and the drinks are fairly priced. I get the specials, they’re usually creative and always fresh. My husband gets the 44 burger. So far he’s winning.(Not against me but that pending cardiac event) Tater tots? Always. I love the atmosphere and the fun neighborhood feel. Lots of good reasons to happy hour here! Build your community, stop for a beer.

I bought a Local Flavor certificate and wanted to check the place out. The set-up of the restaurant is quite strange. No table service and you order at the bar but pick up at the back. Not a bad idea since it works for Blarney Stone but Blarney prices it’s food and drinks accordingly. This place is too expensive and tries to have a fancy menu. Nobody wants jam on their burger at a place that seems like a dive bar, which this place absolutely is. Food was good, burger and wings. Beer on tap was good. Not great because of the price. They are charging armory prices for a knock-off swallows/blarney atmosphere. The staff was super nice, patrons seemed like regulars(how they afford it is beyond me.) The area needs a good pub so if the owner can figure out this identity crisis, I’ll try it again.

We really wanted to like this place since there aren’t many spots near us but there aren’t enough tables and it was so incredibly noisy we left as soon as we ate. The noise level is unbearable. Food was average but the type of food you can have anywhere.

While the drinks are just a bit pricey, this place is chill. I appreciate the professional crowd from the surrounding neighborhoods. The food is awesome. I always go for the«Not Nachos» which are so tasty. This place has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. You can actually have a conversation here and hear what everyone is saying. Try this instead of a night out at Blarney!

We’ve been looking for a new spot«watering hole«in town and really thought this could be it. Loved the open-ness of the place, with the high ceilings and all the natural light. Had a nice lively crowd to boot, but the mixed drinks are expensive at $ 5(come on, this is Syracuse) No happy hour prices on mixed drinks either??? wtf I might even be able to get past the $ 5 pricetag if they were decent drinks, but the bartender, has no idea how to pour a drink. Tooo bad… I really was hoping this would be our new spot.

Went here to watch the NCAA Final Four game and was not disappointed. This place has changed hands 3 or 4 times in the last 8 years or so and this is by far the best rendition of this location. Great atmosphere that saw a mixture of younger and older people in the same place. Place had plenty of TVs for watching the game, and pumped the sound through the speakers as well, but not too loud or overbearing either. Bar was decent, with a full spread of liquor, some wine selections, and around 10 beers on tap, including your basic domestics but mostly craft beers. The food was honestly the best part. I’ve been a regular at places like the Blarney Stone, and this had a similar style to it, and the food was so good. As others have said, you order your food at the counter and they call you up when it’s ready. I had garlic parm wings… hands down the best wings I’ve had in the area. Highly recommend. I also had the«not nachos» and that was also great(lots of nacho toppings on tater tots). And as others have said, the sweet potato fries were excellent. Honestly, if you don’t get the sweet potato fries you’re definitely missing out. I’ve moved out of the Syracuse area and was just back for the holiday weekend, but if I lived here I’m pretty positive I’d make this place my «go-to» just outside the Tipp Hill area.

Have visited this place twice. This is a self serve establishment where you order your beverages from the bar and food from the service counter. I wasn’t used to this the first time but now I know. The food is really good. It’s pretty much pub food. Yesterday I had a burger with avocado. It was excellent. Also loved the sweet potato fries. I’ll be back!

Came into the restaurant/bar and it was very dimly lit. I saw a sign that said seat yourself so we did… someone dropped off a specials menu so we could only assume that a waitress was going to wait on us…15 minutes later we went up to the counter and gave a girl our order. When I explained to her it was impossible to know we were supposed to put our order in at that counter she pointed to a sign that was so dark and under shadow I would have no idea it was there. The food was ok. But I think they are trying to have a high class menu in a pub is strange. When the manager asked about our food we said it was just ok and instead o asking us to elaborate he walked away… never going here again

I can’t say enough good stuff about this place. I’ve known the owner for years, and am excited to see him do his own thing. They’ve got a great food menu, quite different from the standard pub fare you’ll find at most other places around town. Syracuse needed a shot in the arm as far as pub food goes and this is it. The staff is great, super friendly, they have great beers on tap, and an fun design aesthetic. What more could you want?

Been here twice since they opened, once with kids. They have a pretty eclectic menu as far as bar fare goes, and a balanced tap list. Very clean inside and an organized ordering system. Super nice staff and the owner is great. Burgers & fries are average.

Great new place. Respected local owner has renovated and crafted a great menu with daily specials and a fun, simple ordering system. Great selection of beer and wine. Awesome bartenders, friendly attitudes and faces. Outdoor patio, convenient location. Hope to return soon.
