Not just another pretty face! I’ve stopped in this place for drinks a couple of times, not even realizing they had much food– only apps or whatever. It’s one of those hip type of spots where the waiters are really skinny and it feels very urban/big-city type of locale. Well I finally sat down and had food with a group of friends and I was pleasantly surprised! We shared various appetizers, entrees and desserts & literally everything was really good! I thought bc of the type of spot, the food would be just so-so at best, but I was wrong. The menu items were creative, well prepared and very tasty. I will actually go back to eat here w my spouse. The waiter(manager? Owner? Who knows?) was very attentive to the table. Nice variety of cocktails & definitely worth a visit. Look nice though bc people there look like they are ready for a night on the town(no sweats people!).

I went there to eat with a group of friends, and we all had the same issue with our food. It was beyond salty! The steak, burger, pasta and the fish. Every bite was like eating a mouthful of salt. The ingredients were fresh but someone was too excited to use salt on everything(except the fries). Sad to say I won’t be going back there to eat anytime soon

New year… time to take risks. With the mindset that I was going to try restaurants WITHOUT relying on Unilocal reviews, I visited this restaurant. My, was I disappointed! Drinks gin signature cocktail — tasted like cough syrup whiskey signature cocktail — tasted watered down Apps Beet salad: good Split pea soup: watered down Bone marrow: pretty good, bread that came with this was drenched in butter Entrees Salmon: this was the worst, it was so undercooked = completely raw inside!!! Dessert Smores: get this! Cooked in a skillet with melted chocolate at the bottom and toasted marshmallows on top. Can be overly sweet for some tastes Unilocal, I will never stray again!

Wanna be upstate NY douche bags. Attitude from the owners and some staff. Take a lesson, if you want to be successful in business, treat your customers like gold. I will not be back. Epic fail!

I made reservations back in October for a party of 8 on December 10th. I followed up on November 24th and added 2 people to our party. On December 8th I called to make sure we were all set and was told that they had a large Christmas party and we no longer had reservations. I asked to speak to a manager and was told she would be in at 3 pm; called at 3 pm told she would be in at 4 pm; called at 4 pm and was told she called in sick. Was promised that the owner would call and we would get this all straightened out… no call and left trying to find a restaurant to accommodate 10 people in 2 days during the Holiday season. Unacceptable.

There are a lot better places to spend your money. I brought a group of give people here — one visitor and four in town people — for a work-related dinner. The overall experience was disappointing. The dining area is very limited — most of the place is devoted to «lounge style» seating. The banquette we were seated at — was odd — it was surrounded on two sides by a iron railing — so everyone had to exit or enter the space from one side. This made the service awkward to say the least. The room is pretty — but noisy — don’t bring anyone here with a hearing problem. They will not survive. The wine list is small and just okay — the appetizers were fine and some even interesting — the oysters(actually oyster — there was only one type) were fine. Wellfleet — very sweat and briny — the Charcuterie was very good and large — the five of us sampled from it and there was still leftover. The haus gemacht pâté was very very nice. The cumin cured tuna was also lovely. And the bone marrow was very nice. This is way the place is getting two stars. The entrees were poor. The rabbit ragu which I had was sour tasting and plain awful. The pasta was bland, and overcooked, and the whole dish was served nearly cold. Two others had the steak frites — I was told the potatoes were very nicely done. The cod got a good review. Bottom line — skip most of the second — stay with the firsts and perhaps a burger and think of the place as fancy bar. The service was perfunctory. The website says«The York is a Syracuse incarnation of a New York City-style restaurant and lounge experience.» I am a native NY city boy — spent over 40 years there and more than 20 elsewhere in other cities. The York does not measure up to NYC standards as a restaurant or a lounge. There are much better places to try in Armory square or downtown. It is very very unlikely I will be back and never with again with one of our seminar visitors.

Love this place. The décor is spot on and the raw bar is fantastic. Try the Prawns — AMAZING. My only complaint was the single stall restroom that opens right up to the Host Stand.

FYI: They are no longer running their happy hour special of $ 1/oyster even though it is still posted on their social media. Went in, asked what the happy hour oyster/wine was, he told us about the oyster and the wine, ordered a dozen and some wine. Got the bill and it was $ 36/dozen. Asked about the price, and was only told«we don’t do that anymore.» There was plenty of times for him to mention the happy hour special was no longer running, especially when we asked«what is the happy hour oyster?» All he had to say was«we’re no longer running that right now but we do have x». The service in general was great, I enjoy the atmosphere and drinks, and have been there more than a few times, but I don’t enjoy feeling like someone is pulling a «once over» on me. We’re not cheap, we didn’t complain, paid the bill and left, just left disappointed.

One of the places I like in Syracuse. The oyster during happy hour is $ 1 per piece. Fresh and big but just normal ones, so if you are looking for some milky sweet oysters you may wanna try a different place. The pork is really tender and big portion as you can tell from the picture. Average rating for the red mussel. Gave 4 stars for oysters and environment.

My, oh, my. Every single item I sipped, nibbled or, more accurately, devoured, was spectacular. We started with wine at the bar, my albarino was delish. For my app, I had the charcuterie plate which had a fantastic variety of nice quality items. I even tried the pâté which normally I wouldn’t touch, and it was pretty good! The prosciutto was my favorite, can’t go wrong with the San Daniele. Before getting my entrée, I switched to drinking the Bluemingdale which was oh so tasty and very refreshing. My entrée was both the highlight and the lowlight of the night. Highlight because the Scallops are a must! And they are deliciously, perfectly cooked with that tangy chimichirri complimenting them. The addition of the tomatoes and zucchini, also bravo. I could eat those scallops all day long. Why the lowlight, you ask? Because there were only 3! It’s a good thing I ate most of the charcuterie plate myself or I would have still been hungry. I would definitely like to come back and try more menu items, plus, the décor was both cozy and classy, perfect for the casual cocktail or a nice dinner.

Spent several hours at the bar on Saturday afternoon into the evening. Excellent drinks — with a bartender who takes great pride in her delicious old fashioneds. After a few of those we ordered the bruschetta(meh), the roasted corn(yummy), and the bone marrow(sinful!). Had a great time, and the staff were lovely. We’ll be back next time we’re in Syracuse!

The York recently opened for lunch and I visited to celebrate a co-workers birthday. The atmosphere is very upscale, mellow and quiet; great for a business meeting. The raw bar wasn’t open while we visited but the kitchen was more than accommodating, letting us know we were welcome to order oysters or clams. The menu selections are not vast during lunch, but are very well executed. In our party of four, we ordered two burgers, the lobster BLT and the house sandwich, all served with a side of house chips. The burgers were cooked perfectly and the sandwiches were huge. Food was served on wooden cutting boards, which the food safety person in me cringes at(sanitizing wood leaves a lot to be desired). Service was a touch spotty; we had to request side plates for our order of appetizers and when we ran low on water, we weren’t offered another bottle, but that was most likely due to the server also acting as bartender and host. The atmosphere, as I said is mellow and quiet. It was a bit strange in the most charming way to have such a modern atmosphere with early 2000’s hip-hop playing, but we all enjoyed it. Worth a recommendation; be aware that it is upscale and the prices will match.

Some places will not do take out because they feel it compromises the quality of the taste of the food. I now see why! When this place first opened I was their first take out order. Although they had not done take out before the owner was super accomodating and even helped me carry all my goodies to the car! When I got home my boyfriend and I chowed down but ultimately most of it was cold, pork chop and steak were a bit tougher by that point and the pizzaz had fizzled so we thought the food was just good/ok but really innovative. The mussels & bone marrow were tasty but I now see that sometimes good food needs to be devoured at the source! Last night we went back and boy was the food amazingggg. We were soooo stuffed. We walked in and darn near rolled out. We started with the raw bar. $ 1.00 oysters yum! Then went on to that amazing beet salad and the creamiest lobster bisque i’ve ever had. In addition to the huge chunks of lobster I think it had fresh churned butter as it was so velvety smooth. Damn that was good. Then the bone marrow was out of this friggin world! I even picked up my boyfriends to clean his out when he was done! Eating that and fresh out the broiler was much better. Wowzer! By this time we were so full but had to keep going. We finished the evening off with the seared scallops. That too was awesome. Sadly dessert would have caused us to explode! We’ll definitely be back. The food and atmosphere was wonderful. This is my fav spot in the Cuse now! Hands down this place is a 5 star plus! I am sorry i attempted to treat this gem like a chinese take out at first, but Never again. They are pricey so realize that before going in but so worth it. go!!!

A business dinner here suggests that this establishment is a good addition to the Syracuse dining scene. The food was well prepared and contained some innovative items such as the roasted corn starter. However the cocktails were unremarkable. While the service was friendly and attentive, it was a bit inexperienced. For example, the server had no idea what Rob Roy was. Also it might be worth considering a dress code or uniforms for employees. Staff were dressed every which way and it was difficult to tell them from the customers.

I went there last Wednesday due to an urgent craving for oysters. Personally, I thought the location of the host stand was a bit out of the way since it was at the back of the restaurant and I had to navigate my way through the crowd at the bar to get there. I was seated at one of the end booth tables on the raised platform. The seating arrangements was a bit tight and I had to squeeze my way past one table to get out. Anyway! To the food. I actually didn’t get any entrees at the York but I sampled their lobster bisque(a great change from the tomato soup I’m sure), a dozen oysters, the bone marrow appetizer, and a signature cocktail. The lobster bisque was good, it had good flavor and chunks of lobster meat at the bottom. The oysters were great as well. I got a mix batch of three different oysters and they served it on a platter of ice accompanied by a herbal mignonette, a strangely sweet cocktail sauce, and something else. I’m not sure what it is. I personally like to squeeze a spritz of lemon juice on my oysters but they didn’t provide any. When I asked for some, the waiter gave me three or four wedges, three of which were a bit dried up and weird looking. But I managed. The bone marrow appetizer was to die for! Oh my god, I can’t begin to tell you how succulent it was. The combination of bread, spreadable bone marrow, and a slightly zesty chutney was perfect. I was very sad when I finished that dish. But I must warn you if you’re not that big on fat, don’t get this. In addition to the appetizers, I also got the Mickey Finn. Honestly, it reminded me of cough syrup. With the oysters, the two appetizers, a drink, and a sandwich my boyfriend got(it’s meat and cheese and it was good, he says) the bill was around $ 100 minus tips. Overall, The York was good but it’s definitely for occasions where I want to splurge or when I have a desperate craving for the raw bar.

My husband and I went to the York for appetizers and I was very impressed with their new décor. BC used to be a favorite restaurant of ours but the York itself looks very modern and cosmopolitan. The service is impeccable and our waiter was really good and explaining the menu, giving us recommendations and brining the delicious pickled veggies. I wasn’t very impressed with their oysters but the rest to their sea food platter was amazing, especially the lobster which highly I recommend.

Went here on a Friday night for some birthday celebrations. It was the first time since they were formally BC. The look has changed a bit(not to mention you enter through the door on the left now ;) lol) it is touch of industrial modern, overall very nice. You walk into the lounge area and the bar is to your right. Full bar with lots of great cocktails. We were sat for dinner and ordered their Seafood Plateau(as described: A tower of assorted items from the raw bar– not described, price tag of $ 75) but well worth it! The five of us devoured the oysters, crab, lobster and clams. The wine selection was good too– we ordered a bottle of Kim Crawford(always happy when that’s on the menu and a bottle of Malbec.) For dinners a few ordered the Flat Iron Steak– it wasn’t anything fancy– looked fancy, but your normal flat iron steak. Then one ordered the lobster roll special(it was a cold, and mayonnaise tossed– not what was expected, but still good) and the other the sandwich comprised of meats from daily charcuterie board. Overall decent meals. The menu is limited though– only 7 dinner entrees so I really hope that they will be changing the menu seasonally. We finished with dessert and after dinner cocktails. Green tea crème brule and the apple fritter, both were good desserts. Overall it was a nice evening. Service was spot on and food was good… I know I keep saying ‘good’ I wasn’t blown away but then again there was nothing wrong with the food. I will definitely be back!

The remodel looks fantastic! My husband and I sat at the bar, the bartender was an attractive woman wearing almost no clothes. That would not have bothered me if she knew how to make a drink. My husband ordered a martini and I ordered a gimlet. The other bartender had to show her how to make the martini, and he made my drink. The menu was unique, however, there are no vegetarian items, so I ordered a soup and an appetizer as my dinner. Unfortunately, my food came out well before my husbands. The fire roasted tomato soup was extremely bitter and I couldn’t eat it. My husband has a $ 22 chicken breast. It was a small breast, overcooked, with nearly raw carrots and a few crispy potatoes. No salad, no bread. Our bill was $ 118.00 and I was still very hungry. The bartender had forgotten to take my soup off the check. I also noticed that there was a $ 2 up charge for ice cubes in my drink. That made my very small cocktail $ 13.

Yum. Yum. Yum. Great cocktails here(in order from favorite to least favorite of the ones I tried: Yellow Submarine, Bluemingdale, Have The Bees, Chin Music) Wine list by the bottle is far better than the selection by the glass. Friendly staff and friendly owner. The food was great. Pasta was simple but tasty. Ambiance: A little dark and the music is pretty loud. Definitely gives off a New York City vibe which is excellent. Menu needs more options for vegetarians. Waiter told me that lobster tails weren’t available but claws were. Will be back for some tails soon. Bottom line: Syracuse needs more places like this.

After hearing about their delicious cocktails and apps from a friend, my bf and I went there last night. It was PACKED as we went in, but as a party of two we landed the last open table. Lucky, lucky us. We were first brought a dish of their in-house pickled veggies. We. Ate. That. Sh*t. Up. There were normal dill pickles, but also dilly beans(my favorite), whole carrots, and sliced spicy carrots. Just a marvelous start. We each had a different cocktail, and he liked his better. Mine was awfully strong — but who’s going to complain about too much gin?! He had the Mickey Fin and it was delish. For a first course we went bold and ordered the Bone Marrow. This was superlative. As described on the menu, «Onion Compote, Gorgonzola, Cran-Apple Chutney, and Arugula Lemon Caper Salad» were served with the two long bones that had a lovely crunchy top layer of panko and some toasted baguette slices. To best describe how good this was, my bf said it was giving him a mouth orgasm and, I quote, «It’s the second best thing I’ve ever put in my mouth.» That’s no small compliment. We spent a decent amount of time just trying to get every last morsel from the bones. It really was that good. Although unable to top that culinary sensation, our main course of Cracked Pepper Fettuccini with spring vegetables was also just lovely. Freshly-made pasta tossed with olive oil, lemon, cracked pepper and the spring veggies is not terribly fancy — but when the ingredients are fresh and flavorful, it doesn’t need to be complicated. We were full after that, and were quite disappointed we couldn’t manage dessert! I had my eye on the Green Tea Crème Brûlée and I will DEFINITELY be back for that(and some more bone marrow!). I also want to note that even though this was only their third night, the service was fantastic. We had a nice talk with our waiter who was attentive and friendly. He even came chasing after us down the street when I left my cardigan in there! Now that’s great service! I can’t wait to go back(if only to see my bf squirm in his chair like that again)!
