Pretty decent and cheap place to grab lunch in the afternoon. It is right by the SU and Upstate campuses. I have numerous items from their menu which have all been good but certainly not the best that I have ever had. In terms of their pizza, I believe the M street pizza is much better than varsity but that is my opinion. Come here for a bite to eat… especially nice in the summer when you can sit outside.

The only reason its not 5 stars is because the size of the slice. Pizza is wonderful! Very spacious too.

The food here is actually pretty good. I’ve tried their pizza, hot sandwiches, chicken wings, mozzarella sticks and even the new england clam chowder. I always feel satisfied after every meal.

Okay folks, this place is actually really good. They don’t try to put themselves out to be a place where you get«gourmet pizzas.» You get in line, pick out your pizza slices, and sit down. You’re done within a couple minutes, give or take the minutes you need to garnish it with parmesan, garlic powder, oregano, chili flakes. Thing about the pizza is that they are solid on their flavors. I love when the pizza is on the crispy side, particularly when they’re NY style. I come from Chicago, so anything that’s really different from the deep-dish, I’m down with; but it’s gotta be different, namely being crispy. The only thing keeping it from becoming a 5-star is the crust and how it’s a little«cardboard-like.» But STOP. Don’t dismiss it from being bad. The crust is just so firm that you can lift up the pizza on the crust end and it’ll lift up the whole thing. That just means it’s got a lot of dough or it’s a bit over-baked… or it’s been sitting out in the serving display shielded area. 7⁄10

I guess if you are drunk and on your way to a Syracuse university sporting event this fast food restaurant is an okay place to go. Very very crowded on game day

Delicous fast food joint in syracuse university campus area. I personally adore the fried chicken ceaser salad wrap. A crowded atmosphere with every type of folk. Cafeteria line style ordering and payment.

I’ve only been there twice and they have good pizza. Wings are ok. There are places to sit down and eat. They are very busy since its on a college campus.

Not much to say about Varsity that hasn’t been said already on here. The pizza is good but nothing to write home about. A good variety helps the cause. If you want cheap pizza that’s good enough, Varsity has you covered. The best thing you can probably get there is the burgers. Very fresh and juicy. Prices recently went up but still worth it. Pretty good salad selection if that’s your fancy Greek one in particular has some nice character to it. One surprise that I enjoyed is the humdinger. It’s a chicken patty dipped in the hot barbecue wing sauce on a bun. Pretty delicious.

I had Varsity pizza a couple weeks ago for the 1st tie in a decade or more. I don’t know how they stay open, serving such forgettable pizza. Very bland, boring pizza. Boring sauce, cheese & dough not doughy & fresh and not floppy and new yorkish at all. No identity to it at all. It’s an utter disappointment, and barely worth the calories.

Come to Varsity for QUICK, delicious pizza! You can get two large slices and a drink all for under $ 6. Their quick and nice service really distinguishes them from other spots in Syracuse. Personally, the barbecue pizza is my favorite. Of course, they have a LOT of other items on their menu, but I have only had experience with their pizza so far. They bus the tables, which again adds to the QUICK, to-go factor that they are so good at. UPDATE10÷11÷15: Varsity Special Steak. Get it, or you’ll regret it. Need some more convincing? Go look at my picture.

Could be the best cheesesteaks on the planet! Best I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a lot! Strange to find such a great sandwich in upstate NY, but it’s amazing!

I really like the pizza here and would often pick up a slice to-go after work when I worked nearby. The slices are generally fresh, warm, and delicious. There is also always an array of types of slices to choose from. I have enjoyed any kind of pizza here that I have tried, and I love the flavor of their sauce and cheese. They also have a great salad station with lots of fresh veggies and other options. I was really impressed the first time I got a salad here. I haven’t tried any of their other food. In addition to picking up food to-go, I’ve met friends here for lunch during the week. It gets very, very busy over the lunch hour with people on their lunch break from work. However, they do an excellent job of keeping the place clean even during busy times. Service is always fast and friendly. They do deliver, but it is limited to a close vicinity. The food set-up confused me the first time I came in here. The counter by the front door is where you order slices and pay for them; the counter at the back is where the salad station is and where you order and pay for any food aside from slices. They do serve beer, though I’ve never gotten any here. Overall, Varsity is my favorite pizza place in Syracuse and I really wish they delivered to where I live.

pizzaaaaaa! the tomato and feta(which everyone else has already raved about) is super tasty and the very greasy plain slice was… very greasy(we’re talking 3 – 4 sopping napkins full of oil). totally dig the hefty crust– makes for a more substantial meal. prices are phenomenal which is such a gift given that these guys are in a prime location and could total charge more. looking forward to many more trips to varsity in the near future!

Just your average wings. Nothing too special about this place, but I really did appreciate them listening to my order and making the wings less-saucy. The people are all really nice. Watch out during lunch hours. It can be super busy and a bit hectic at times.

I never ate here, but a lot of events hosted at Upstate get pizza from this place. Doesn’t taste any special to me. In fact, I find this pizza very greasy. The more meat you put on, the more greasy it is. Have to wipe off some of that oil because it is borderline gross…

The star rating is somewhat sentimental for this ’88SU grad that hits it up when I return to campus. The drill: get in line for a pitcher of Labatt’s. Order up some of the wings. Go to table. Drop off pitcher for friends and get in line for a slice. Eat slice while walking back to main food counter to the sounds of «Shawn, your wings are ready, Shawn». Get wings and devour. They’ve done a nice job adding subs and breakfast over the years. Love all the memorabilia on the wall. I know the guy in the bands photo. I miss this place!
