Acropolis Pizza House

Pro: This place is opened late.
Otherwise, slow service. Their pizza is super oily and the environment is unpleasant especially late night when its populated by hungry, obnoxious college students. Save your time. This place is not worth a stop, in my opinion.

Horrible horrible service. I ordered delivery from them at 11:00pm on a Thursday using grubhub. They indicated that it would be there by 11:45 at 01:15am I called them to politely ask where my food was and they put me on hold and never picked up the phone. Since they close at 1:30am I called grubhub to see it they could tell me why my food wasn’t delivered. They said it would be here by 1:35am. At 2:05am they finally arrived. I ordered baked Ziti and a piece of baklava for dessert. The food was totally bland and flavorless and the baklava tasted horrible. I will never ever order from them again and I suggest that you don’t bother.

I usually write pretty good reviews because I conduct research about the restaurants I’m interested. Let’s just say that in this instance, I went here on a drunken whim at about 2am. One of the bigger mistakes I’ve made.
First off, this is more well-​known as a pizza house; when I went here I ordered a Gyro because I wanted one and it was the only place were it was available at that time (I didn’t think of Pita Pit for some reason). It was not a gryo; instead of using pita bread they used a flour tortilla that was toasted and cut into chips, so that gyro was more like nachos. It was an interesting idea, but not a tasty one. I’ve heard mixed things about the pizza, but I don’t want to return to find out.
Granted I came here at around 2am, but even then, the service wasn’t so great. The staff kept mixing up orders, and the line of drunken college students kept getting bigger and bigger because the staff couldn’t find their orders. Not to mention the place is dirty; the tables weren’t very clean, as they weren’t wiped down.
I wouldn’t come back, nor would I recommend anyone come here…

We went here after the game to get slices. The food was out quickly and pizza was tasty. Definitely not a NYC slice but was pretty good!

Pizza was weird tasting and not good. Dirty restaurant and rude staff. I would not eat here again.

Atrocious service and terribly long wait time. Watched several other patrons be subjected to verbal abuse and a combative attitude from the woman running register before I became the victim of it myself for trying to politely reason with her. Waited 35 minutes for food (a few orders of fries and a falafel sandwich) I tipped 50% on. Felt bad for the cooks in the back who were making decent food. I will not bring my business here again, and I strongly recommend others trying to satiate their late-​night pizza and Greek cravings to go elsewhere.

Great customer service friendly staff the food is okay for it being on the university

First ever order with them was great. Huge order of fried mushrooms for only $ 4!!! The calzone was exactly as I ordered, pepperoni, mushroom and extra ricotta. It was ordered online so I’m not sure about their customer service but I know that the manager was very pleasant on the phone when he thought he was getting a complaint. Will order again!

Normally I ignore reviews that say the service is poor because many times it’s just sour grapes. The service here would have to get much better just to reach the terrible level. The food was even worse. Got the gyro platter: the meat looked and tasted like gyro flavored Bologna. The salad was standing in about ½ inch deep dressing. The pita was dry. The cucumber sauce wasn’t too bad. It you want crappy food and rude service, this is your kind of place. All students and neighbors should boycott it until they are run out of town. It is just pathetic. ZERO STARS

The Italian sub is to die for, excellent! His restaurant is across the street from the Sheraton on University Ave, Syracuse New York.

Most foods seem to lack any flavor. Unless you have been drinking a lot and it is later in the evening. this is not worth a stop. Bland foods and no atmosphere.

They are rude but they’re chicken cutlet subs will not let you down. Also they’re gyros are delicious. It does take a long time to come out though

Grabbed a quick meal with my family when we were moving my sister into her dorm. The falafels seemed hard and not fresh, the pizza was generic but not bad, and the chicken gyro was ok. The taziki sauce saved it. Probably wouldn’t come here again.

One star is too much but I can’t post on Unilocal without giving it a star The best thing about the gyro platter was that it was easy to throw in the trash. Four of us went there for lunch and all agreed it was a mistake.

CHEAPSKATES who will not give you a Pizza box to carry your LEFTOVER PIZZA !!!
We stopped at this place while visiting Syracuse University campus enroute Niagara falls. At 6pm on a Saturday this place was empty. I should have used my better judgement and checked this place out on Unilocal which I did not do.
We ordered the following :
— Medium Acropolis special aka Meat lovers pizza: This pizza has enough Grease that you will need a BYPASS surgery by the time you are done eating it. I had to dab their thin-​ass napkins against the pizza to get the grease out. BELOW AVERAGE pizza. If this is their special; I wonder how their other pizzas are !!
— Sweet potato fries: OVERDONE and FRIED TO DEATH. The worst looking and tasting fries you can be possibly served; to such an extent that you cannot taste the sweet potato at all.
To top this is their LOUSY and RUDE staff. I asked for the remaining pizza to-​go [expecting to get it in a pizza box as in any pizzeria]. I was handed the remaining slices of pizza sandwiched between 2 thin-​ass paper plates. When i pointed to the waitress that it’s raining outside and I need a PIZZA BOX. she looks at me dead in the eye and puts the pizza slices in a plastic bag and hands it back to me. I just walked away in disgust.
How CHEAP are you seriously that you cannot give your patrons PIZZA BOXES to take their leftover pizza.??

We will never be back. Rude service, bad food.

Man, this place sucks.
I’ve been here probably 5 – 6 times, dragged by my friends when I was an SU student. The food is garbage, the service is awful, and the environment is… well a few students got stabbed there last year. That’s all you need to know.
1^st time there, I ordered a calzone. Took 45 minutes to make (not exaggerating) and it tasted like it was reheated from a freezer. Not impressed. I got pizza the next two times I went there. Buffalo chicken was edible, but the regular was burnt. I’ve also ordered a cheesesteak and buffalo tenders — the cheesesteak took 30 minutes to cook, and the steak has zero flavor. The tenders were ok, but tasted like straight vinegar.
The people who work the counter are some of the rudest I’ve met in a restaurant — just a heads up. Unless you like terrible food, atrocious service, and internal bleeding interfering with your digestion, I would avoid this place.

Wow, so I promised I wouldn’t go back here and then I unfortunately did. Came in for a slice of pizza or something quick one night and was met with the worst service I’ve faced in a while. When I approached the cash register, I asked what might be ready quickly and we ended up ordering some wings which should have been ready in 10 minutes. When we added that we would have a 2 cups of tap water to accompany our order, the guy behind the register started giving us attitude about it. When he continued to berate us about our request for water, I asked for my money back. This place is horrible. Don’t bother. You can find plenty better other food places on Marshall Street and should patronize their restaurants instead.

Acropolis is a depressing establishment that feels like an inner-​city joint, if that makes any sense.
The inside looks like it hasn’t been renovated in decades, with poor, yellow lighting along with disgusting looking booths. Basically the entire interior looks old and hideous.
Service here is pretty bad, the owner here is very rude and intimidating. He yells out the orders and gives you attitude when you don’t walk up and get your order quickly enough.
The food from here comes out piping hot. Despite that, the pizza here is really cheap and is covered in oil. All the other items, including the cajun fries and calzones are pretty good though!
If you don’t care about the quality of service or the environment you’re eating in and just want the food, you won’t mind Acropolis. Just don’t order the pizza.

Best pizza. thin crust doesn’t flop downwards and the cheese slide off onto Marshall st unlike a couple others pizza.
The taste is sweet goodness!
