Short wait time — unless it’s in the 15 or so minutes before classes. Good service, but sometimes they are a bit understaffed(& sometimes they have four people just standing there). Coffee is very weak. Do not order an extra shot — the baristas do not understand how to properly blend the extra shot into the rest of the drink. Mochas typically taste more espresso-ish than chocolatey. Lattes and Americanos typically well done.

Café on the University of Puget Sound campus. Visited while attending a conference, and though classes were not yet back in session, this place was hopping! Average wait the two times I stopped in was 10 minutes. Coffee was good, and staff(3 people when I was here) were courteous. There are also some grab and go items but I didn’t try those.

For a college coffee shop it is pretty damn good.

Although typically patronized only by students, staff, and faculty of UPS, it gets crowded on weekday mornings. The coffee is some of the cheapest in Tacoma, with bring-your-own-mug discounts. All fair trade and locally roasted(Caffe Vita). They make a killer Duke of Earl(Earl Grey, steamed milk, and vanilla). Their caramel and chocolate are vegan, so nice options for mochas and macchiatos. The drip is super-hot, so be prepared. Sadly, no almond milk. Breakfast bars, Umpqua Oats, and pastries are also available — I hear great things about the pesto roll, available on select Thursdays. It’s a great option for folks who live in the North End or are visiting UPS for a walk or a conference, and it’s student-run, so help support some college kids.
