Food is sooooo american! Your in a hurry? You gotta wait till the waitress & server are done eating in order to pay. Just horrible service !!!

I went here over the weekend, I was disgusted and not impressed with the service provided by the waitress. It took 10 minutes to get our drinks, the chips were stale and to top it off I had to remove the beef taco that I ordered from my plate and on to a napkin because there was so much grease. They plated it on top of my rice which in the end made the rice soggy and not appetizing what so ever. The waitress sat herself in a booth across from us and sat there on her phone the entire time she was not waiting on us which was very uncomfortable. When the waitress finally came over she did not even mention or ask about the taco until her second trip over. She asked what the problem was and when I told her it was far too greasy she said«well, you did order a ground beef taco.» As if this is at all my fault. She offered to have the kitchen cook another taco or something else and I told her I was fine and didn’t want to order anything as a replacement. In the end she did not apologize or discount my order. The food was terrible, the service was even worse. I will never go back and suggest ANYOTHER mexican restaurant in the area over this place.

Went into Josefinas for the second time after a few years(the first time was right after it opened) and I was impressed by the décor. The food? Alright overall though a bit overpriced. I had a pork and chicken enchilada plate, which was average for a Mexican restaurant in this neck of the woods. I must mention the traditional margarita I got, however. That thing was STRONG! It had more tequila than any four matgaritas from anyplace else. I had to ask the server for more margarita mix, or else I would’ve had to take a cab home.

Came to dinner with my brother and sister, and we all really enjoyed it. Food is on the pricier side, like most Mexican food, but are portions were huge. I ordered the paella, and I got full pretty quickly, and it didn’t even look like I ate anything. And they gave us two sides of salsa and two sides of bean dip for the chips before our dinner. Most Mexican restaurants give you one cup of salsa and you have to reach across the table to dip and always end up running out of salsa. The paella came with so much meat, you can actually have meat in every bite. Some places aren’t as generous. Service was friendly but slow(it was only the owner, I think, there), and we were the only ones there. I would have liked my glass of water refilled, but he was still nice, and the food was still good. Looks like I will be having paella for the next couple days.

Standard fare Mexican food and atmosphere. The menu was complete and they have a stocked bar. I had enchilada’s which were served with rice beans. Everything was ordinary. The servers were pleasant.

They have very good soups. A lot of effort has gone into the preparation to make them available, even during week days, which most Mexican restaurants only offer soups on the weekends. Which means they need to prepare them to make them ready, per order. Which they to marvelously. I ordered the Tortilla soup, on a Wednesday and it came as if it was freshly made, with great chicken stock and a red salsa consistency that hit it out of the park. They have their own«signature» style on each soup. I always bulk at paying $ 10 to $ 12 dollars for soup, but it is a meal(plus) and it is a home run if you are looking for soup.

The food is good. The service is good. This is a great place for date night or dinner with the family. We always have leftovers because the portions are large. They can accommodate very large families. If you haven’t been here yet., give it a try. You won’t be sorry.

That have a great look to the place and a great atmosphere. The chips, salsa comes with bean dip which is great. And the margaritas are taste not just the stock big market mixer. We’d come back again

Arroz con pollo was disgusting. Made me gag almost with every bite. Chips were cheap quality and not a good texture. Seemed old. Salsa was HORRIBLE! I’ve bought Wal-Mart brand cheap salsa that tasted better. They forgot to give me my tortillas and they were extremely expensive with small quantities. I go to Mexican food very regularly and I’ve never spent that much money on such small portions. Will never come here again. I usually don’t take the time to leave reviews but I had to on this one.

Loved this place! First thing that caught my attention was when they brought out bean dip with our chips and salsa!!! WHAT!!! Nobody does this! I ordered the chicken enchiladas, and they were excellent! Very attentive wait staff also! I will definitely be going back!

My husband and I have been going to Josefina’s for several years, and every single time, it’s a treat. We’re always treated extremely well, and always have been. Last night we went there for dinner, and it was fantastic! Our hostess/server, Elaina(I hope I’m spelling that right!) was sweet as always, and very fast. She recognized my husband and me as soon as we came in, and showed us to a booth. A minute later, she came back with their complimentary warmed tortilla chips, bean dip, and fresh pico de gallo, and took our drink orders. Within a couple minutes, she came back with them, and we were ready to order our entrees. My husband had the Paella a la Mexicana, which was fabulous and nicely spiced(and in *huge* portions!). My mother-in-law had the chicken fajitas, which she said were absolutely delicious. And I had the Pollo a la Tropicana, which is my favorite dish. All three were very hot, very fresh, and absolutely delicious. There was enough food that all three of us had plenty left-over for lunch today, and believe me when I say that they were all delicious on the second go-round as well! It also wasn’t that expensive either; for the three of us, with our three entrees and two margaritas and a soda, it came to under $ 85, including a 20% tip, which our server/hostess definitely earned! Any time my friends want to know where to find delicious, authentic Mexican food in Tacoma, I always tell them about Josefina’s. This place is fantastic, and so far, we have never once had food or service that was anything less than amazing!

I hate it when retards come on here and say, «Ah ust ta liv in Texas, and ah kno what mex food should taste like, and this ain’t it.» Listen, stupid. Please don’t show your ignorance by comparing authentic mex food to tex mex food. Big difference. if you haven’t lived or traveled in Mexico you don’t have a clue what mex food should be like. And Texas ain’t it. And L.A. ain’t it. These people are Mexicans from old Mexico and this food is good! Mexico is a big country and has incredible variety. You might like the mex food in Ensenada and hate it in some neighborhoods in sprawling Mexico City. Different flavors and spices all over Mexico. And they are all ‘authentic’, and all taste different. The ambience is good. The service is good. The food is great. I have eaten mex food all over Mexico. And this is authentic. I would suggest you find a mex restaurant you like and go there. You will find that on different ocassions, the food will be radically different. they change cooks, suppliers, etc, all the time. No restaurant has the same fare from month to month. Usually. I have eaten here for years. Sometimes the food is better than other times. but the service is always good, and if you don’t like it on the ocassion you go there, just take a few bites and tell the manager. You will usually not have to pay for it if you have not eaten it. The next time you might love it. Please don’t write a bad troll review just to show folks how clever you are and what tex mex food expert you are, just to get some attention.

Josefina’s has great food & awesome service. We are treated as if we are family every time we eat here. The food portions are large and we always have a second meal from our left overs. They also make great drinks. We have a special needs teen age daughter that can make dining out hard. We have always had caring service. They never make judgement about my daughter’s autistic behaviors and sometimes«odd» special requests to change up the menu items she orders. This accommodating service makes for a «melt down» free dining experience for us.

As far as generic tex-mex food goes, this place is pretty much the same as any of them. Although I do have to give the chef a little bit of props for doing something different with the fajitas. The meat had a sweet quality to it, apparently pineapple and orange juice marinated. So that was different. The hostess/waitress was nice too, as I just love being asked what high school I go to(I’m 21).

Great food. Great service. The owner is great and so nice. I’ve never ever been treated so well as I do by the owner here. I can’t say enough great things other than giving my word and five stars to this fine establishment. They cook the food the way I like it and take care of me. AMAZINGFOODTRUCKSASWELL!

The service was an A+ the margaritas was great and that was about it. I came in with a group of family members, I was very dis-pleased with the food chips and some bean dip that tasted like burnt smoke and had some type of meat in it, when I tried the«salsa» I gaged it tasted like Tabasco overload. It was terrible, not authentic and I couldn’t stand to eat it. I’m from Los Angeles and I KNOW what Mexican food should look and taste like. This was not it sadly.

Dropped in for a quick lunch between business meetings, and lured into this place because of the unusual name(NOT a chain?). Well, the food is very much like the chains. Right away the chips were served with a red salsa and bean dip! Nice touch. Chips were warm and salsa/bean dip were good. Service was quick and efficient. I ordered a standard lunch combo — cheese enchilada and shredded beef taco with beans and rice. Within maybe five minutes, I got my lunch, YES! Lots of cheese in the enchilada, with ok sauce, but lacking onions(always dissappointing, for me, at least). The shredded beef was soupy with sauce — just too runny for me – not what I would expect in a good taco. The rice was particularly good. The restaurant is located on Pacific Avenue, AKA Mexican restaurant row with lots of competition, but service was great for lunch(FAST!). However, there are many more options that look much better a little further up Pacific Ave.(see map above, keep going up from the marker). So keep driving if you want something more authentic, and you’ll find it. Plenty of it. PROS: Excellent, efficient, quick service. Bean dip with chips. CONS: Standard chain-type Mexican food, in an area where there are lots of much more authentic Mexican restaurants.
