I believe this is a franchise or something. i think I have seen 3 or 4 of these around tacoma. Luckily when we moved into this neighborhood we became within walking distance of this location. My appetite loves this… my thighs and diet do not… We have been there a handful of times. Mostly for the street tacos, but we have grabbed various other dishes, ie chalupa, pork platter, etc. The food is always spot on… well except once where the tacos were super greasy. I mean the food was still great… but there was a small pool of grease on the plate afterwords and that kind of grossed us out. Our favorite aspect of this place is the salsa bar. The salsas and pickled peppers/carrots are amazing. When we wait I grab a small plate of chips and go to town on those salsa. My wife absolutely loves the Tomitillo sauce and could eat an entire bowl of that alone. We will definitely be making more trips here in the future! I honestly dont know how authentic it is, but I often see multiple Hispanic people in there so that probably means something right? Also the price is great. Usually spend less than $ 15/trip.

Came here after a long flight and just wanted something solid and quick. Judging the outside appearance I was a bit skeptical. Walked in and was pleasantly surprised by the authenticity of the menu. The menu selection is pretty diverse for a little taco shop. I ordered the fish tacos while my companions ordered the chicken enchiladas and carne asada tacos. I was thrilled to see that they offered«aguas frescas», and went with the horchata. They had free chips and a salsa bar. The chips were somewhat lacking and bland, I doubt they were fresh and they needed salt. The salsa bar was great though! We tried them all. The food came out very fast and the presentation was impressive for only having paid $ 6. The tortillas were delicious, fresh and tasted homemade. Everyone else seemed content with their food too. We plan on returning before heading back to SC.

I get breakfast here very frequently! It’s consistently good and I LOVE their fresh corn tortilla. I get the same thing every time, but I probably should get a little more adventurous the next time I go in! Their salsa bar is clean and has tasty items. Service is friendly. Parking can be very tough in the evenings, but in the mornings, it’s usually quite easy to get in and out!

We stopped in with a large family — ages 2 – 18. It was excellent! Totally legit food. Best I’ve had since I left Cali. Everyone loved what they ordered. Quesadillas Burritos Enchiladas Free chips and several types of salsas available. Very nice staff. Will come again for sure.

Great place to meet people and eat genuine Tijuana style food. The staff is always polite, the service good, and the cleanliness good. The parking flat out sucks and you should be aware that if you drive a larger vehicle you will want to park on the street.

I had to lower my rating on this place, maybe it’s me Not the quality has started to go down hill, last time my wife and I were there for breakfast order the chilaquiles… when I got them as soon as I taste them I knew there was something wrong, and told the server, to what she said this is the way we make them, I tried to explain that the sauce for the chilaquiles was turning bad as it had a vinegar taste and she refuse to accept it was bad, I invited her to taste or at least smell and she refuse, I don’t know maybe it the new management or what but I had to keep insisting finally she told me would I like something else(I will give her that) but by then my appetite was gone. Needless to say I will not be coming back not because of the one experience it’s because when the management is so stubborn on even looking into that what I was saying had some merit them it may be because they no longer care and it may be just the profit that’s important. My husband and I are regulars at this mom and pop shop. We love everything! My husband always orders a shrimp/ceviche mix tostada, with a carnitas torta. I love tacos, and they have an amazing deal. You get to order 8 tacos and two drinks for $ 10!!! Wow, that’s like the best price I’ve ever seen for tacos and drinks. They have a number of fruit waters, horchata, mango, Jamaica, And two other flavors. They also have a soda fountain with coke products. A major plus is the chips and salsa bar. They literally have about five different salsa choices, anywhere from the regular red and green salsa to Chile de árbol salsa. The salsa bar also includes lemon slices, onion, jalapeños, radishes etc. I do have to mention that they are super fast, we never wait more than ten minutes after ordering our food. Their menudo bowl is only $ 6.99 and there’s fresh made tortillas that come along with it. I love this place!

Don’t go here. Food is disgusting. Taco trucks have better food.

Their Papusas are pretty good. I normally go to tropicos to get them, however it’s quite a drive up North. Their fish tacos are pretty good though, would highly recommend.

Incredibly quick service. Food is the typical quality. Not fresh, but not bland or as bad as some other places. Will return.

El antojo, what can I say. Cheap ass margaritas are hard to beat. Food was above average, but only slightly. El sabor still gets my vote for best Mexican in Tacoma. We come to El antojo for the cheap margaritas though.

We went on a Sunday afternoon on a whim for Mexican food and had a great experience. The Staff was friendly The food was prepared very fast and tasted great! The prices are very reasonable. The only problem is parking, they are next to a fantastic burger joint and both share a small parking lot. Its worth the time to park down the road a bit and walk to it. We will be back!

Been here a few times I always order the carne asada tacos. My boyfriend orders enchiladas usually and he likes it as well. It’s a good place. The meat was kind of gristley the last couple of visits. Only thing that I’m skeptical about is the salsa bar. It’s always surrounded by little kids who drop whatever into the open containers, so you never quite KNOW what will be added into your salsa. Chips are kept in a heater but doesn’t keep them too hot. Those are self serve. I also wish the dishes for the salsa were bigger. You can’t even dip a whole chip into the tiny cups. If they had bigger cups available you wouldn’t have to stock up and dirty so many cups of salsas! I took a picture this last time because I literally ALWAYS say ‘next time I’m bringing my own bowl for salsa!’ It’s usually spur of the moment when we stop in but other than that staff is very friendly, they keep the tables clean, they come around often to check on you. There are always a lot of people inside. I will go back, with a bigger bowl for my salsa!!! Keep in mind, parking is absolutely HORRIBLE at this location!!! Smallest, most ridiculous parking lot EVER!

I love this place. Go there all the time. The staff is friendly. The prices are right and most importantly the food is delicious. They have authentic Mexican street tacos horchata and sopitas. My friends joke I bought my house just to be near this restaurant!

It was $ 8 for a very average asada burrito not even a plate with rice and beans. There are far better Mexican trucks and restaurants in the area. Try Vuelva a la Vida.

In search of finding the best Mexican food in Tacoma, my husband and I came across this place. Got home and realized my husband had left his smartphone on the table. He called Antojo’s and the man said«Oh yes, you were the couple sitting by the door! Yes, we have your phone.» Customer service gets 5 stars! Very clean, new place. This is a self service joint – nothing fancy. We continue to go, some dishes are definitely better than others. I wouldn’t order the fajitas again(compared to other restaurants they are pricey and you barely get any meat). Overall good experience!

Not being from Tacoma I read some reviews and decided to give it a try. When I pulled up I wasn’t sure if I made the right choice. Then I walked in and thought I was in a to go place. After being greeted by the cashier, and telling her this was my first time her; my attitude changed and I was warming up to the place. Lots of families eating in, you can see them cooking behind the counter and good prices. When the food came, wow, really good, tasty, and plentiful. Everyone at my table was full. Being from California and living in San Diego and San Fransico, I can say it isn’t the best Mexican food I’ve ever had but it’s a solid Mexican restaurant. I’ll keep it on my places to go

Wish we had these up where I live! The $ 3.99 specials are especially awesome. Had the chipotle enchilada plate for lunch and it was just delicious. Love the self serve drink selection along with free warm chips and open salsa bar. Super clean and very friendly service.
