I called around to find a new shop in Tacoma to do my 90K maintenance. Lloyd and Wilson was able to send me a PDF quote the same day after getting my VIN over the phone! No games, no hassle of having to take my car in for a quote and again to be worked on.
Easy experience, and I thought the prices were fair. Glad I found a new shop!

Went in to have a diagnostic test run on my car and get an oil change. They charged over $ 150 for that test which is the most I have ever been charged. It showed I needed to replace a cam sensor.
BUT with my oil change, I was told I only had a quart at most left, which is a lie because I had checked my oil level roughly a week before and it was full. The front desk person, Amber I believe, admitted that her tech can exaggerate sometimes and she would check with him about the oil level again. They said my car had no oil leak and I haven’t noticed a loss in oil pressure or black smoke, therefore I wasn’t going to allow them to attempt to fix my car. They said the loss of oil was from the cam sensor issue.
SO when I went to pick my car up, the tech proceeded to assume I had no idea how to check my oil properly and insulted me.
NOW about week later, with driving to Seattle a few times, my oil is still full and no problems with my car.
I will never visit this shop again.

Fantastic experience with Lloyd & Wilson this week!

My husband has been a loyal customer at Lloyd and Wilson’s for over 10 years now and we are both very happy with their service and knowledge regarding all types of cars. He has a BMW and I have a Toyota SUV– both have been serviced there. The last time we took our car in there was a misunderstanding (turns out it was on our end!) and L & W’s was more than fair in making things right and keeping us happy. We are loyal customers for life and highly recommend them to friends and family (and anyone else!)

We had some rear suspension work done here a couple of months ago. After a few weeks the creaking came back. I was out of town at the time, so my wife brought the car back to them. They gave her a ride back home, and heard the creaking we’d described. They fixed the problem the same day, and tightened up other possible noise offenders. My wife said they we’re helpful, friendly, and fixed the job for zero dollars. So a big thank you to Lloyd and Wilson for standing by their work!

I have been looking for a great mechanic and dealt with some not so good ones in Seattle. Happy to be back in Tacoma and found them after looking on Unilocal.Kyle was great helping set up the appointment via email and I showed up for my appointment time for an oil change and maintenance check up. Did end up spending a little bit more than I normally do for that service, but was pleased I only waited about 35 minutes and they were super friendly. I am willing to spend the extra cash for great customer service! Will definitely be coming back.

These guys are friendly, and professional! They helped me out with an oil change. And because I don’t know anything about cars, they explained how often I should routinely do this and it didn’t feel like he was trying to get one over on me. My go to spot from now on for any of my car troubles. It’s nice to have found a local owned, family friendly business that is trustworthy!

We recently relocated from Maine and are fortunate to have this gem conveniently located near us.
Everyone is friendly, honest, and accommodating. They were able to squeeze me in for a routine oil and filter change due to a cancelation. Previous oil change back in ME told me I needed new brakes amongst other issues but not here. They were very honest and found out I do not need additional maintenance.
I felt extremely comfortable and trusting of this place, I’ll definitely be back!

These people are great! They’re a friendly family owned business and they’re really good at what they do. I had numerous problems with another company misdiagnosing problems my car, and doing a bad job of repairing it. Lloyd & Wilson managed to undo the damage they had caused and then diagnose everything else that was wrong, and fix it correclty! I feel very lucky to have found a good mechanic in Tacoma. Lloyd & Wilson is highly recommended.

I had a very pleasant experience at Lloyd and Wilson. I had my car serviced there last week, and was very pleased with the high level of customer service. When I removed my back seats to move furniture and couldn’t get them back in, I took it to this shop, where they straightened it out in 10 minutes flat. Very friendly, laid back atmosphere, and reasonably priced.

I think this place is just OK at best. Unilocal brought me here for a timing belt change. It cost $ 1000 plus. There was other work done at the time (regular maint).
My issue, the vehicle has never performed as well since their work. It lacks the umph it used to have. I brought it back and they said the timing was fine, etc, but I KNOW it’s not the same as it was.
Secondly, there are two hose leaks. One at the radiator, the other below that. I know because my Toyota antifreeze is is red so there is pink build up both places.
I would not recommend nor will I come back.

Friendly, reliable service. They stand by their work, too. I had some big repairs earlier this fall (older car that’s been through tough Midwest winters), and I’ve brought my car in twice since then for follow-​up looks. The first was for a suspected leak that turned out to be my paranoia, not an actual leak. The second was an odd noise with my newly repaired brakes, which was due to a manufacturing flaw in the brakes (nothing to do with their work). I wasn’t charged a dime for either of the follow-​up visits, even though they involved time and labor, and they were able to look at my car even though I was a drop-​in without an appointment. I’m very happy to support this local business, and I regularly recommend them to my friends and coworkers.

After having multiple problems with my 2005 Chevy Cavalier (and letting the problems pile up — I’m the same way with my doctor), I decided to give this place a try. I explained to Bob (one of the mechanics) that I had car-​anxiety when people are messing with my car. He put my troubles at ease and took me through the steps involved with my repairs. He even let me look over some of the parts to show me where it needed repairs. My bill was high, but that’s probably my fault for letting the issues snowball, but my car is running very well (the best it has in a long time) and I promised Bob that I would get regular maintenance done to my car (like oil changes — which my oil leaked so I would just always refill it and never change it) and tire rotations, but when I do the car maintenance, I know where I will be taking it — Lloyd & Wilson!!!

I was looking for a mechanic near my workplace where I could drop my car in the morning and pick it up in the evening. Found Llyod & Wilson after an Internet search. Good people, family owned. They explain the issues well, and fix it the right way. A lot cheaper than dealerships. I have never had any problems with them. I would highly recommend them.

Twice I’ve showed up with odd ball issues and they’ve nailed it. After going to several shops for diagnosis this crew was the only one that figured out I had an axle bent by a few hundredths of an inch. Top notch work.

This is a family owned and operated business that definitely, definitely provides great customer service.
I drive a lexus IS 250 AWD and I have taken it in several times for diagnostic purposes. At one point I could hear a squeaking coming from the motor and by the time I brought it in, the noise disappeared. Nonetheless, they did a thorough check of my car without charge.
The following week, the noise came back relentlessly and I drove straight over without an appt. They squeezed me into their already busy schedule and found the problem. Apparently the accessory belt idler pulley needed a replacement. They were able to squeeze me in, yet again, two days later for repair.
They do a really good job of explaining the issue in understandable terms. And most of the time, they will even dig out a part to give you a visual of what actually is the issue in your car. (Which is great! I’m a visual learner.)
Honest, dependable, and reliable. All the characteristics that you want in a mechanic!
I would highly, highly recommend them to all of my friends and family. (That is, if my family lived here. hehe)

Horrible experience!
I’m not sure why there are so many good reviews about this place but I got shoddy service and they’re refusing to refund my money after determining that their diagnosis was incorrect. Basically they misdiagnosed what was wrong with my car, gave me a quote for over $ 3K to fix it (the fix turned out to be about $ 0.05!), and they now refuse to reimburse me for the (faulty) diagnosis work.
Perhaps I didn’t get their «A» team. Initially I talked directly to a mechanic who seemed to be very open and helpful. Later when I talked to the lady who communicates the quotes, etc. I was told «the mechanic isn’t supposed to talk to the customers». This was after I commented on how she was contradicting what the mechanic had told me. Also who ever worked on my car was clueless on how my flywheel works, so maybe they gave me a trainee I don’t know, but I would recommend never taking a Volkswagen here… actually I will never bring any car to this place again.

Lloyd & Wilson is friendly, professional, honest, and reliable. I have been there several times over the last couple years, and they have never tried to upsell me. They’ve always given me a list of options and helped me weigh them to keep my cost down.
I’ve never had a problem or complaint with them, and that’s exceedingly rare, especially in an auto service business. They get the job done: maybe not always the fastest, but they will always try to squeeze you into their schedule as soon as possible. They’re also the most thorough and honest. And definitely the most affordable, so far as I’ve seen.

I have only lived in the Northwest for 5 years now, but there is one thing I know for sure– without functioning windshield wipers you are screwed! I live in Portland, so when my wipers crapped out on me unexpectedly while working in Tacoma I nearly shat myself.
After checking the fuse and finding it ok, speaking with an employee of an auto parts storel who tried to get me to order $ 200 in parts, and realizing I wasn’t going to be able to drive all the way back to Portland directly to my usual mechanic, I realized I needed some good local help.
I Unilocaled «auto repair» in Tacoma and found Lloyd & Wilson to appear to be the most reputable place. After my experience I can see why. They got my car in almost immediately to check it out, and called me to let me know that the entire repair would be only $ 130. They picked up the part I needed at a local dealer, brought it back to their shop, and had it repaired for me by the end of the day.
