Great local bar, talking old school. All they need is Heidelberg H-bombs or Oly stubbies to make it legit.

The best«Cheers» type experience. It is such a relief to be able to have a place where I could get away from all the hipsters. You will definitely learn something new if you go to Parkys. Reminds me of the 60’s. All the regulars are there. The best old fashioned bar around!!! Will definitely be a regular my self. Good convos, good beer, and not just a «fad».

Hallelujah! Hail to the Temple of Authenticity and Joy! The Parky is a rare oasis. My lady and I left a jacked up U.S. Open I-5 on Sunday just trying to get away and what should we find, but exactly what we needed. I too am a divenheimer so the giant TAVERN sign was an irresistible beacon. It did not disappoint. After i was done blinking at my good fortune of ambiance… I resumed blinking at the amount of change I received when I ordered two beers, and … two complementary pickled eggs.($ 3.50 total) My girlfriend gave me a sly smile because she loves when i step in it, so I downed the eggs as Cool Hand Luke as you please and thanked the kind, bearded giant tending bar. The place is genuine, weird, and wonderful. A fine foil to the swank-tank one block North. Stop in for a smile…

Too Legit to Quit. Let’s start with a Big Brother moment: You don’t see 4 stars. OK. You DO see 4 stars, but most people would not give Parky’s 4 stars. Uh, some people would give it 1. We are treading on Barfly territory here, hipsters. Don’t come here just to be cute. I’m a Diner Diver; that means old places of sometimes questionable character float my boat.( ) Parky’s is lovely to me because: It has its original neon lines still running the ceiling.( ) It has a 60+ year old giant amateur painting of Mt. Rainier in front of the pool table.( ) They sell cans of Vienna Sausages for a buck behind the bar.( ) They have rules posted for receiving phone calls at the bar.( ) They carry one Elysian on tap and everything else is Hamms, Rainier, Bud. etc… You want variety? Choose between a bottle or draft pint of Bud Light. After being closed for some time due to licensing issues, the new Parky’s is back to business. Parky’s has been slightly refurbished by the previous owner’s(Maury) son. He’s kept business running pretty much the same as it has been for decades, and the same clientele are still stumbling in. You can get your drink on from 10AM to 2AM here. If you like: old bars with their original fixtures cheap beer characters If you are comfortable with the occasional sketchy moment/person Go here. If you don’t like: drunken behaviour culled from hours spent sipping on beer pull tabs potato chips or pickled eggs from a jar as snack of choice spontaneous bouts of old school karaōke with the juke box DONOT go here. A real, old school tavern for the real people of the East Side. Totally Legit, but not for everyone. 37⁄30
