Very funky coffee shop! I like how it is located on the corner and you take a short staircase and small door to enter the place. This place would be cool to chill during summer time out on the balcony. But the inside is very limited and is cramped. One Small bathroom and max 7 seatings. Coffee was good. Guys working there seemed chill. Small parking space by the building.

It was ten minutes til 8 and the guy said he was already closed. Not cool. If you’re going to post hours of business the minimum requirement is that you are open for posted hours. This is a poor customer service and not cool.

I live in the neighborhood and come here when I am lazy and want good coffee. The vibe can be weird at times and due to the small size you feel like you’re in everyone else’s business. But I’ve always had great service and coffee. One time I was 1 having a hard time deciding what to order 2 waiting for the busyness to calm down and 3 having a bad day. The barista kept checking in with me to see if I was ready to order. When I finally did order he didn’t charge me, and the drink was delicious. Get the iced toddy it’s day making.

This place is now known as Cosmonaut coffee. +1 for the Uppity Hipster reference. Although our barista was more hipster than uppity. As for the coffee, meh for sure. As has been my experience at almost every upscale coffee place in Tacoma(and Seattle), my latte was WEAKWEAKWEAK. Creamy, yes, but I could barely taste the coffee. Is this a cost-cutting measure or was I just weaned on too-strong lattes so that’s what I developed a taste for? IMO, if I’m paying nearly 5 bucks for a 12-oz coffee bev, I damn well ought to be able to taste the coffee in it. As a matter of fact, that should be the dominant part of the flavor profile, should it not? And yeah, that price. At least if I want a weak latte, I can pay less for it at Valhalla, Metronome, or Bluebeard.

I miss the one that was in Masa. I didn’t realize it was gone until I went there to get coffee one day and it wasn’t there! This is my favorite coffee in Tacoma. It is simply divine coffee. I only buy it about once a month because It isn’t cheap, but boy is it GOOD. They don’t serve white chocolate anything(YAY! get off your damn white chocolate kick people. Don’t you want to taste your delicious coffee?!) The inside is tiny and cute. I love all the rocket/space themed industrial stuff. Also across the street from Wright Park.

I’ve tried to like this place. All three visits have been mediocre at best. The owner thinks he is the only person in Washington state that knows how to make espresso. His attitude stinks along with the luke warm latte. The attitude by the staff and sub par coffee has left me never to spend another cent at this establishment.

Great coffee and close to work at TG, I love that they use the Stumptown coffee that I fell in love with in Portland and is a great reminder of home. The mochas are good, but I really just prefer the brewed coffee and I usually don’t drink sweetened drinks.

Tried this little place today for the first time and I loved it! It has a different name now, but is the same place as before(so I am told.) I got a hemp late and it was so delightful! My friend got a cookie and said it was unique and delicious. Nate was our barista and was very friendly and cool. Everything in the shop is very sleek, and has an industrial chic feel. Very cute, and satisfying, I will definitely be back!

The Satellite Coffee location that I went to off of 6th in the MASA building left. When I went to ask the MASA hostess about what happened to them she said that this location closed but that there was another location around downtown but the name changed and she did not remember what it was called. Well it took a couple of months to figure it out but this place is no longer called Satellite Coffee but Cosmonaut Coffee. It is located in the same building and all and from going off of previous pictures pretty much looks the same. The coffee shop is on top of another building. The space of the establishment is still pretty small but better than the one on 6th where there was no place to sit. This place has some benches and is decorated Space Race fabulous with a hint of 1960’s modern art love from the lamp in there. The tables are fun as they have the solar system and various satellites on them. To make the fun yet simple décor even more exciting they sell Soviet symboled shirts and hoodies! Yay! The coffee is just as good as when they were under the Satellite Coffee moniker. The mochas and the lattes are great! They have a small pastry case which contains delicious items! I really enjoy the Squash Bread that they have here! Even coffee snobs seems to like this place because as I sit enjoying my coffee and bread I overhear terms and just a certain kind of talk that only coffee aficionados would use! I’m thinking this is my «go to» coffee shop for Tacoma!

Uneven service. I’ve been here four times. Two times were great, two times were awful. The other reviews that love this place are spot on: for the two times I went, the coffee is excellent and the service is friendly and helpful. This is where you go when you want a superior cup. The other reviews that hate this place are also spot on: for the other two times I went, the coffee was weak, the service was all uppity hipster and there was a dude on a laptop hogging the only good seat in this tiny little shack. I want to come back and like it. I really do. But I can go to Tully’s up the street and get a *consistently* decent cup with *consistently* decent service. And that’s what matters to me.

The Shell gas station bathroom next door is larger, cleaner and offers better coffee. A gritty sanctuary for Tacoma hipsters to discuss skinny jeans, iPod playlists, Xbox games and day dream of someday moving out of their girlfriend’s parents basement. I guess old, dirty, cramp and slow service is defined as cool at the Cosmonaut

I left my wallet in here a few weeks ago and was thrilled that they returned it, thanks so much for being so honest. The coffee was great too, my kids still ask for the tree house coffee shop, even though they don’t order anything, they just like being here!

Their cold toddy is about as good as it gets. The baristas are always friendly, and though it is pretty tiny, they make it work. Go grab a coffee to go and take a walk at the park across the street.

One of the flagship coffee houses in Tacoma serving Stumptown Coffee. Iconic. Their cappuccinos(whole milk and dry) are about as good as they get anywhere. Check out the pictures.

I wanted to love this place, but I thought their latte was ok — more on the creamy side if that is your style. The baristas however, are quite knowledgeable and helpful. Tip: 1) I think they’re going to change their name soon? 2) It’s tiny. Only one good place to sit. However, there is a park near by so you can try to find a bench or grassy knoll to perch on over there.

A tiny coffee shop on top of another building. While not big enough to hang out in, or very convenient to park and grab a coffee from, they do make a good cup of Joe! The coffee is 5-stars, the building/location is 3. So overall they get a 4-star rating in my book.

Any talk of Stumptown and you know it is going to be good. Don’t be put off by the hipster vibe and coffee snobs, it is worth it! I have been to the 6th location, Division, the Children’s Museum and the previous Market Street location. You will receive an excellent cup of coffee by a knowledgeable barista. However, you must know this is not a one-button Starbuck’s Coffee machine. Your coffee will come out in a reasonable time but this is not fast coffee. I personally enjoy that they carry locally sourced coffee, drinks and snacks. At the museum I have purchased sandwiches made by STINK! Get there and drink a cup of anything.

I like this place and I LOVE Stumptown coffee, but the last couple times I was in there, I was served by a female that works there who acted as if I was causing her a serious inconvenience to make me a few shots of espresso. I have been helped by a young guy and the owner who were both really nice and super knowledgable, but this female who has been helping me recently is rather unpleasant and has been causing me to avoid my favorite coffee place in town. I would otherwise love to give them 4 or 5 stars! Update: I have updated to a 5 star review. Over the last year or so going to satellite(now cosmonaut) their service has increased by leaps and bounds. I regularly have excellent and often educational(with regards to coffee) conversations at that! The service and product are second to none in Tacoma. Well deserved 5 stars.

This is our local coffee shop — we live a few blocks from here and stop in pretty regularly. Even the so-so baristas pull some pretty good coffee and the great ones pull some great coffee. They’ve completely converted me to Stumptown beans, which I wasn’t sure of before. Rarely over-roasted, consistently good. If you have dairy allergies, this is the place to go. They always have rice milk available for me(and I’m apparently not the only person that orders it because I frequently get the end of the container) and the menu boasts soy, almond, coconut, and rice milk. They frequently have a gluten-free, dairy-free treat available if that’s a thing you need. Why only four stars, then? I wish there was more seating — there’s always one person camping the table near the door with a laptop — leaving a tall bar(no good for kids) and the one table by the retail sales section. It’s nice to be able to carry my coffee over to Wright Park but sometimes I’d like to sit in a warm, dry place with a cup that’s not paper. Parking is also quite an issue — they have a lot but I’ve witnessed many near-accidents in it, three cars at most.

The BEST coffee in Tacoma. The BEST. Excellent Stumptown coffee, prepared better by the Satellite baristas than some of Stumptown’s own.(had a lousy latte at the Stumptown on Division in PDX just a few weeks ago), Coke made with real sugar, an Americano with honey, insanely well crafted syrups and the best atmosphere(albeit tiny). Feel good about supporting local business and drinking Fair Trade beans, if I have to pay a little more for quality & to support these things — so be it. However, the prices for drinks aren’t out of line with better establishments: a 16 oz. latte is $ 3.75(granted, it’s one shot). A small drip is $ 1.75 — a 16 oz drip is 2.75. You add some of their excellent syrup for the usual .50 cents. Considering that a shitty(or decent) cup of drip coffee in any restaurant is usually $ 2.00 anymore… I don’t think that’s too bad. The baked goods, when they aren’t sold out, are delicious and well priced — $ 2 for a big blueberry scone. One quibble might be they should carry a wee bit more for us fatties. VIVASATELLITE!
