Absolutely love this restaurant, the food is amazing! The owner is a great chef and I appreciate that she care so much about what she cooks that it is always fresh. Please don’t be in a rush when you visit this authentic place, she preps all food in the moment, so your food is always fresh and delicious!

I had read all of the reviews before going to this place. I decided to go anyway because I was craving Thai spices(basil, peppers, cilantro, garlic, galanga, etc.) I ordered one of the spicy noodle dishes and just like every other place in S. Oregon, except for Sunflower, it was covered with sweet gravy and old tasting garlic. So, the food wasn’t really great and didn’t satisfy my craving. I also ordered spring rolls as an appetizer. I made my order to go. While I was waiting on my food, a couple had been patiently waiting on their main dish after having had egg rolls, not finding them to their liking and putting them on the bar to be removed. The owner came out to talk to the couple. She was incredibly rude to them. When the conversation started going sideways, the guy tried to stop her by saying something to the affect of «I like you; I like your food…». She jumped down his throat and told him she wouldn’t cook anything else for him, she was tired of his complaining and for the two of them to just leave. What he complained about was that the egg rolls were empty inside. She insisted that is the way they were made. He calmly told her that other egg rolls he had elsewhere were filled with meat and veggies. She told him, that is not the way they are made there. After calming down, the couple left without further incident. It was quite the drama and I was embarrassed. After I got home, I understood what the guy was talking about. Eventhough I had ordered spring rolls and not egg rolls, my rolls were practically empty inside. They had NO meat, a couple of slivers of carrots(literally a couple!) and some anemic, raw tofu. It was the most bizarre thing I’ve ever experienced. I threw them in the trash. won’t be going back. Way too much drama and the food is NOT great despite the couple of good reviews here. Still remains that SunFlower Thai in Grants Pass is the only decent Thai food in S. Oregon, in my book.

If you can look beyond the extreme rudeness of the staff… OR better yet — I recommend to call in your order for take out. I simply was flabbergasted by their lack of customer service… serious lack! But I did enjoy green curry that had lots of brussel sprouts and corn(which I’ve never experienced before in a curry). It was delicious!!! Next time I will bring a blanket and enjoy the curry at the nearby park for a more romantic setting. My friend is vegan and they could NOT accommodate :(they would only repeat«i don’t understand. We only have what is on the menu.» My friend just kindly kept asking if this dish had fish sauce in it. The waitress would just repeat her mantra… i don’t understand… in a very rude manner. Sad, they lost a paying customer for not knowing what is in their food. I asked for a plastic spoon to enjoy my take out in the park — she huffed at me, and handed me a spoon with her thumb right on the spoon. Customer service people —- and word of mouth is everything! I’ll head to House of Thai(Ashland) for Yellow Curry and super nice people next time…

This is by far the best Thai food I’ve ever had, at least in the US. Perhaps only going to Thailand would offer a more authentic experience & even that is a maybe. Every dish is rich with perfectly well balanced flavors that will instantly transport you on a mini-vacation to Bangkok. My favorites are the green curry #15(spicy) and #13(a great way to satisfy the sweet & salty craving). Atchara is very methodical & meticulous; she makes everything from scratch including the sauces, so be prepared to wait –or call ahead & show up late. However much time you spend waiting, you’ll forget that time exists once you take your first bite. Some places are hit or miss, but in my experience, this is a hit every time. The cultural difference in regards to customer service may be challenging for some folks to overcome, but if you are able to get beyond this & show kindness with a side of gratitude, you will quickly find yourself one of her favorite customers who gets served off-menu specialties.

Love this place. It’s nice and small, the staff is always professional and friendly, the food is delicious and made in front of you FRESH! The hours vary depending on season, but the place is amazing! Always have leftovers.

I used to rant and rave about the food here. And it *IS* good. The service, however, is seriously lacking. For one, they make you feel guilty for even ordering and then warn you that it will take 20 mins or more to serve you!(At least they are honest) And it usually takes a half hour. The woman Chef,(the Owner) I used to think her eccentricity was charming, then I started to notice how rude she was. She is not nice in general and sometimes very rude. To her employees and customers alike. Similar attitude as Seinfelds«No Soup for YOU» guy. She could really care less, and it really shows. It’s truly unfortunate, because it is totally unpalatable to me now, no matter how good the food is, I do not want to support such a sour attitude.

The food here is pretty good and that is where they earn their 3 stars. The general vibe and atmosphere is just plain odd. If you are not getting take out then prepare to feel awkward. It’s like hanging out in somebodies living room. Literally. It’s one lady that cooks all of the food and her young daughter that is the server. They service is pretty slow. They are sitting there watching tv, usually the news. It says they close at 8:30 but they pretty much close whenever they want. Sometimes over an hour early. We have lived in talent for 2 years now and have only eaten there 4 – 5 times because of this fact. Would be twice that amount if they were open when they said they were going to be

By far the best Thai food I’ve had in Jackson county! The atmosphere in the restaurant is well thought out, with happy Buddhas and flowers and a nice array of colors, and the owner is genuinely happy to see you. She takes her time preparing the food and you can see and taste the loving energy she gives it; the meals are sumptuous and flavorful. I loved how«seasonal vegetables» were an option, instead of the standard choice of meat or tofu, and the vegetables included asparagus, which is rare and delightful. I’ll definitely be frequenting this restaurant when I need a fix of thai food!

I make Thai food at home, meaning I am more harsh when judging Thai food since I know what goes into it. I also have a binder at home from my boyfriend when he took a Thai cooking class, filled with authentic recipes. I simply don’t understand the appeal of this restaurant. Yes, it has a charming interior, but the food was a bit ridiculous. We ordered the green curry and pad see eww. They didn’t have brown rice, the green curry was really oily and the oil had separated from the rest of the dish. It was also really creamy in a weird way. I’ve made curry countless times at home and trust me, that is not how Thai curry is supposed to be. We ate all of the pad see eww, but this is mainly because of the pathetic amount of rice they gave us. We would have been really hungry if we hadn’t. Rice, it usually comes in a bowl, or on a plate in the shape of the bowl it just came out of and the quantity for one person is usually a very sizable 1 cup portion. The rice from Bangkok’s Atchara came on a plate and was literally 1⁄3 cup’s worth for both of us. Looking at the plate, you could see space between all the grains of rice. It’s like they spread it out on the plate to make it look like there was more than there actually was. I didn’t get a picture of this unfortunately because we were in a hurry to get to a play, so once the food came, we ate what we could and had to leave in a hurry. The food did take a long time to come out, but yes, we were warned about that from the numerous signs posted. There was pretty decent stream of take out orders coming in and one girl even came in to pick up her order and stated«I just tried Thai food for the first time last month and now I’m addicted!» I understand this is probably one of the few Thai options in the area, but I hope people don’t think this is what Thai food really is because it was just a really odd and pretty bad experience.

Save your time and money and head to Thai House in Jacksonville… or even Tasty Thai on Riverside… The only things this place has going for it is(1) its charm — the place is adorable and very homey — and(2) its one of the few places in the valley open on Mondays. The place is filled with signs and disclaimers that«perfection takes time» and«there’s only one cook» yada yada but they need to add one that says«the waitress will be on facetime the whole time and ignore you…» Finding a more attentive, helpful waitress would be a great start. We were fully prepared to wait if the service was good(expectation not high) and food was great… but neither was the case. Beer selection was meh, water was room temp w/no ice and soda was flat. No refills and 40 minutes later… spring rolls were average(peanut sauce was actually pretty good) and the entrees(phad thai and pangea) were ok. Pangea was much tastier than the phad thai… but thats not saying much. Won’t be back.

It feels like I am eating at home when I am here. Duey is always smiling and the food is always amazing. I love to come early or late just so I can sit with here and listen to her stories. She started as a carry out trailer on the highway but there are so many people that love her she built a custom home that works as a restaurant to feed her clients. Thank you for coming to America Duey!

I’ve lived in Talent for 3 years, now, and Khumsap’s Panaeng Curry is a staple food in my household. She is not only a beautifully wholesome person and a world-class Thai chef, she provides a personal experience for your foodie obsession. She hand-picks all her groceries from fresh, local markets. She personally prepares every dish and every condiment that accompanies it. She runs a one-woman kitchen, having never found a prep cook that can meet her standards. Be prepared for a little wait, but I promise you, it is worth it. This restaurant deserves an even higher rating than that which is allowed on this site,

Simply great Thai food. The couple that runs it are sweet and kind and the food is delicious. I’ve tried 6 or 7 dishes now(my favorite is #13) and everything is full of flavor and excellent. Another reviewer slams take out — but have no fear. That review is just plain wrong. Take out, eat in, it’s all the same and all tasty and cooked to perfection. If your local or just passing through, it’s worth a detour to stop here.

Surprising find in Talent, OR, while on an Applegate Valley winery and Ashland food tour. Really enjoyed the service, portions were the right size and the owner was happy to provide us with some chili sauce to spice up our dishes. Pretty darn authentic, too.

This place is the bomb for Thai food. It’s become the only place I will go for Thai, and I spend about a third of my time in Portland. Atchara buys fresh vegetables, hand picking them all herself. She won’t buy anything pre-cut. The cleanliness is immaculate. I just looked up their health department scores and they are straight 100’s on every inspection. I don’t think any other restaurant in Jackson County has accomplished that. She even makes her own peanut sauce. If you want Thai food from a perfectionist, this is the place. It does take a little while to get your meal, because it’s all cooked as you order it. Ps– They do take credit cards at last!

Bangkok’s Atchara is the New Sammy’s of Thai cuisine in the Rogue Valley. Located in a small storefront restaurant in downtown Talent, it is hard to find, as New Sammy’s was. Also, like New Sammy’s everything is prepared to order and only the freshest ingredients are used. Each dish has its own distinctive taste and every dish is delicious. The chef/owner Atchara learned how to cook from her mother, and man can she cook. She is also completely charming. Having lived in San Francisco for 18 years, I know good Thai food, and Atchara can hold its own with the best of them. My personal favorite is the #25, clams with silver noodles in a spicy sauce.
