I met with some family there that were driving thru Tallahassee and wanted to so for lunch. Great atmosphere, we got a really nice waitress, and the seating was just right, one of my party uses a wheelchair and they were very accommodating. The food was tasty, a little smaller portions than we have had there before, but still just as good. We ordered from the lunch menu and added the salad bar to each of our entrees, nice variety.

Not much to say here, except I don’t think Sonny’s is targeting vegetarians. Amazing service, lots of space, great for the family. But– the sides I use to order, and still do, seem to be going down hill. I understand they aren’t the focus, but I feel like they could be much better– and once were.

As a frequent visitor to Tallahassee, I make it a point to stop by Sonny’s each time I am in town. I really enjoy slow cooked meat and Sonny’s has all the choices you would expect. I have had every type of meat they offer and they have all been good. Service has also always been prompt and friendly. Yes it is a chain but still offers a quality product at a fair price. I especially like that it is possible to order the turkey here and put together a pretty healthy meal too if I am so inclined.

I ordered the pulled pork(platter, not sandwich) with cornbread and sides. When I got home, the order had garlic bread and not cornbread. But the real strike against this location was the pitiful amount of pulled pork that came in my entrée. It is, at most, a cup of meat. It would barely fill the palm of my hand. There’s so little meat here that it’s crammed up against one side of the black styrofoam box and the remaining 90% of the box is just empty and pitiful. I paid over $ 11 for this? I’m attaching a photo of the entrée. I normally go to another location in town, and after this experience, I’ll keep doing that, at least until I find a BBQ source that comes close to satisfying this Kansas City native. At least the other Sonny’s locations in town aren’t this laughably stingy with their meat.

We stopped in 45 minutes before closing January 1st. My chopped beef sandwich was full of fat, cold, and filled only 2/3rds of the toast. The wait staff was very nice and the manager took it off our bill. Hopefully, it was just due to being there at the wrong time.

This is by far the best Sonnys I have ever been in to. Although over all Sonnys is very consistent store to store. I love the fact that it has a full bar. Love my martinis. The core staff is amazing! Victoria Harris is a precious employee. And my daughter. Lol. The bartender Casey is awesome and has perfected my martini. I love the super clean salad bar here. Doesn’t even start to make me nervous. Actually everything I’ve has here has been well prepared and presented nicely. I’ll be coming back over and over.

I have been to all three locations in Tallahassee and several around the state and in Georgia. It is easy food, with an easy atmosphere, but the food is nothing extraordinary. Cooking and judging BBQ myself, I know mass production of this food-type can be difficult, but this is really just pumped out with little attention past palatable BBQ. Service has always been good, at any location I go to.

The location on Dick Wilson is newer and replaced the location previously on the Apalachee Parkway. The addition of the bar area is nice and can be helpful if you want to run in and out on a lunch break as the wait for seating is non-existent(as long as it isn’t full, as well). Sliced pork, beef brisket and smoked turkey are my usuals and it’s rare to get a poor cut of meat(occasionally I’ll end up with a plate of brisket or pork comprised mostly of fat). But the staff are friendly and they rarely hesitate to take something back and make it right if you’re unhappy with what’s on your plate for any good reason. The portions are always more than enough to fill the average person up and I’ve never felt that they skimp in that regard. Their coleslaw is some of the best I’ve ever had and their giant glasses of tea rarely require a refill for me(though I usually get one to go, too). The sauces are a high point, for me. Service has always been excellent in my experience and I eat here A LOT. I’d go so far as to say in my 15 years of eating at Sonny’s I’ve never had genuinely bad service. The food usually comes out very fast and I can make a trip on a 1-hour lunch break with time to spare.

The food is pretty good, but the service here is the wo0o00o0orst! Been here a couple times and they always take forever. My bf loves the all-you-can-eat plates, but they(prob purposely) take ages to bring you a new serving. I feel like you’re paying for it, they should at least give you the food in a decent amount of time. Today our waitress seemed to forget about us for a while at a time, didn’t give refills to drinks on time, and didn’t clear off the empty plates either. They also seated us next to a bunch of really loud kids… blergh. I think maybe next time I’ll just try the drive-thru cuz I can’t handle their service.
