Ok place. Not too clean but bang fit buck if you want to have quick south indian stuff.

Today, i finally was able to visit Dosa Hut for lunch buffet. I just want to say how delicious everything was. The collection of all veggie curries were of varying degrees of hotness and fully flavored with spices. The food had wonderful flavor! There was an assortment of desserts which included gulab jamun, halwa, and, payasam. All the desserts were fresh and well made. The gulab jamun could have been a little less dense but they were not overly cooked and were enjoyable. Unlimited access to gulab jamun is dangerous! The dosas, and uthapam(plain and onion/veg) were fresh and constantly refreshed by the staff, as were the bathuras. The buffet table also offered 4 kinds of chutney! I plan in visiting here again, whenever i can. The Dosa Hut only has one all pure veg competitor in Hillsborough County. If the Dosa Hut was able to produce a full menu of all veg curries etc in the evening their competitor would have trouble on their hands.

Love the lunch buffet, lots of dishes for such a cheap price. Most of the items are deliciously prepared by the team. It’s all self service with ample space for seating. The dinner time is a la carte. You can choose your own dishes and experiment with new flavors. One of my favorites was the Gobi Manchurian appetizer; an Indo Chinese spin on cauliflower florets. Most of the entrees are dosa(Indian crêpe) based with different kinds of fillings(usually Indian spiced mashed potatoes). If you want a new kind of dosa experience, I would recommend the Spinach dosa as a health alternative. Great food and great vibes overall!

Got some dosas on a Sunday afternoon. We tried the masala dosa and the spinach onion and cheese. Both were fantastic. Great prices too. Didn’t go for the buffet so can’t speak about that but if you’re in town and looking for good dosa, give this place a try! The place isn’t very fancy but it’s very spacious.

First of all this is a VEGETARIAN buffet, so don’t expect any meats. This place is bare bones, nothing fancy at all. We are talking paper plates, plasticware and styro cups. It does have quite a few items and even if you have eaten indian before there may be some things you have never tried before. However this just wasn’t my type of indian restaurant and I will probably never be back.

Lunch buffet is very good! Lots of different options with different flavors, and nothing was terribly heavy. I don’t think they offer anything other than dosas for dinner, which is a bummer because I’m not a dosa fan but would love to get the food they serve on the lunch buffet for dinner.

Just OK– went there on a Friday evening, and place was pretty much empty. Looks like they have long way to go to impress a south indian. Dosas were very stiff– and they were too sharp to be put into the mouth. had to soften them to dip into the sambar. Definitely not worth for dosa fans. Was told my coworkers that best day to go was when they have the buffet-(Wednesdays, I guess) and any other days are just about average. And that the temple nearby had better dosas on weekends!!! I will stick to their advice next time(if I have to go again!).

Great dosas! It is a quiet, clean atmosphere. The buffet was wonderful; just the right amount of spice for me. Plenty of things to choose from. I didn’t get to try everything but everything I did try was tasty. Convenient to the Tampa airport as well.

Yum! Amazing dosa and idli at a great price. You order at the counter and serve yourself sambar and coconut chutney, then they bring you your food. The ambiance is very casual – maybe it was previously an Irish pub? – better for friends or family than a date. I only wish they didn’t use styrofoam and offered recycling.

Sad to eat the dosa here. No flavor, fruit flies around. I went with family and we all felt puckish. I’m not going there ever. How can you serve such a bad food?

I grew up in Bangalore(Southern India) and living in the US for past 8 years. I gave that background info to make a point… I think I almost cried when I ate here. It was so authentic and delicious that I overate to the point I was uncomfortable. I just could not decide what to eat and what not to(from the lunch buffet). Two of my friends and I were on a road trip and we discussed this one lunch pretty much every day at least once for the rest of the trip. The true test of a south Indian restaurant is the coconut chutney — and it was the freshest and delicious I have had in a long long time. I wish I was a much better writer to express how much I loved and enjoyed the lunch to do justice to this restaurant.

Dosahut is a delicious vegetarian self serve buffet. I love vegetarian buffets. They do need some signage about what the food is and what the process is, but it is AMAZINGLY tasty, so who cares?

The food is 5 Stars, no doubt about it, but the rest of the experience is 3 Stars, so I averaged it to 4 Stars. I would love to tell you all about what I ate, but nothing, not one thing, was labeled on the buffet. It was all trial and error. In this day and age of computers, it seems like it wouldn’t be that difficult to print out what each item is, and if it is spicy or not. I really liked the chick pea dish(very spicy) and the veggies in sauce(not spicy) was delicious as well. The white pudding-ish dessert was surprisingly good too. I also really liked the dosa, and they were great about bringing fresh ones out to the buffet. I ordered a fountain soda to drink with my buffet, which I would not do again — there was no ice in the machine, so they brought me some on the side, but the soda was just warm and flat. Don’t do it. Next to the buffet are various size Styrofoam platters and containers that are to be used with the buffet, and plastic silverware. The plus is that you can keep everything separate in its own little compartment. The downside is that it makes me cringe to think how bad Styrofoam is for the environment, and this one little shop is contributing a LOT to it — ugh. There is essentially no charm to Dosahut, so don’t go for the atmosphere or experience, but definitely go for the food.

The food was really good and there was a very large selection on the buffet. I liked that they brought me a fresh dosa. Everything is vegetarian(but not vegan) and there were 2 desserts(hot noodles and the«fudge» type things). Everything was where it should’ve been temp-wise. The food is SPICY and I loved that! Sometimes buffets are bland. BUT. There is NOSERVICE. And no sign to indicate that you should«seat yourself, help yourself to food, water upstairs» so you just kind of stand there for 5 – 10 minutes and listen to staff yelling somewhere in the back. There’s no music, no greeting, no smiles, no nothing. I feel more welcomed at McDonald’s. Styrofoam plates, plastic forks, spoons, and knives, styrofoam cups. I’m so glad that the evidence of this meal will be lingering on our planet for the next 100+ years. I LOATHE using petroleum-based single-use things. The pictures Unilocal shows indicate ceramic plates and mugs, which are nowhere to be found. I think they’re stock photos uploaded by the restaurant. None of the food is marked as to what it is. That’s fine for me or the 6 Indian guys who I shared the space with, because we know what everything is. But if someone isn’t familiar with Indian food… or with South Indian food? Good luck! Indian food is my ultimate comfort food, usually I leave a restaurant with a spring in my step, feeling elated. I left here feeling kinda depressed because it was so dismal inside. I may eventually return but there’s another spot equi-distant from my work where the servers are much friendlier and actually serve you and use real plates and silverware for only $ 1 more cost added to the buffet price. The other place has nice décor and music too. I understand this is supposed to be «Indian fast food» but to me that doesn’t mean«sullen employee cashes you out saying as little as possible.»

The food seemed very authentic. Good flavors and a lot of food for the price. Not a five star rating because the place lacks authentic atmosphere. $ 10 credit card minimum

Came here on a weekend as we were craving Indian food. A little confusing when you walk in because your not really greeted by a hostess or anything and its kind of quiet inside as there was not music or TVs playing. Our entire experience was pretty much just find a seat, go to the fixings bar, get your food then pay at the end. I don’t think anyone even came to our table, checked on us or even talked to us. So we just helped ourselves to the fixings bar, got our food, ate, drank the water they provided in the coolers, paid, then left. The food though was not bad. There is a waiter who just keeps replenishing the items when they get low on the fixings bar and a scramble to get the hot fresh dosas as soon as there ready. Filled with potato’s, they had a very nice tasty crisp and I easily had about 4 of these. My favorite was the tamarind sauce when paired with the dosa made a great meal. They also had other bread like items that you can dip with other Curry’s and sauces they had at the fixings bar but I had no idea what I was eating at all because there really was no one to ask. Oh and if you are looking for any type of meat here your out of luck. Its a veggie place only

This place is a hidden gem in a mostly deserted strip mall. Rumor has it that the owner used to cook for the local temple and cooks traditional south Indian food. This is some of the most authentic food in TBA, and worth every penny. The prices are actually very modest. It seems that they keep their cost low by using disposable serving dishes and no table service. At the end of the day, it’s not needed because the food is that good. The buffet has a wide number of dishes that all taste very different, but all south Indian. It’s all vegetarian and possibly vegan. The only probably with their buffet is that they always run out of bread, which is every buffet ever. If you love this place, come on Wednesday nights for UNLIMITEDDOSAS! For $ 9.99, you can order however many Dosas that you want from their selected menu. My favorite is Mysore Masala by far, but everything is delicious. We have gotten their mixed masala snacks and they are delicious. They taste a little different every time, but it’s like what Indian mom’s make their families. So delicious as a snack.

Very nice place with alot of room. I ordered the buffet and a diet come for 10 bucks. The plateware is disposable and the buffet is all vegan. Very good flavors and some dishes that had good spice. Be prepared to do your homework on the food. If you know nothing about indian food no one will explain what stuff is. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a different place other than your normal run a of the mill indian place. Would be 5 stars if the buffet was stocked alittle better had to ask for fresh bread because some was stuck to the bottom.

I have been meaning to check out the Dosa Hut for months since I live less than 5 minutes away and after my second visit all I can say is shame on me for not making it there earlier. Dosa Hut is in a shopping center on Hillbourogh Ave where the Beef o’ Brady’s was close to the Neighborhood Walmart. The staff is friendly and the shop is clean both a plus. The samosas are excellent! I got some for my sister and I and we love them. They are served with a spicy green sauce or sweet and sour chutney both very good. Im looking foward to trying more things on the menu.

Surprisingly, Dosahut is turning into one of my go-to lunch restaurants in Tampa. It’s cheap and every order comes with as much delicious sambarr soup as you can handle. Consider me sold! I wish I could say exactly what type of dosa I’ve ordered the two times I’ve been here but I can’t due to my friend ordering for me everytime. One day I got the flaky crust with potato in the middle and today I got the soft Spring dosa with vegetables on top. Both were equally good and the two sauces puts it over the edge. I’ve always liked Indian fusion type but this is authentic, real South-Indian food that will have you begging for more. Great for vegetarians and vegans because very few menu items have dairy, cheese, eggs or meat in them.
