We went here for a birthday party with 8 people and overall, it wasn’t great. The rolls were really small, gyoza was burnt(I know it’s supposed to be crispy, but it was borderline shoe leather), fish was dry and the wait staff, although very friendly, had to be called almost every time to the table for refills, more sushi and the check. Maybe it was just an off day, however it was a Friday night, so you’d think they’d bring their A game. The pictures other Unilocalers posted of their sushi looked NOTHING like what we were served. I’m kinda jealous.

Definitely some of the tastiest sushi in Tampa. I’ve been enjoying Jeff’s creations since he worked at his mom’s place, Yoko’s, on MacDill. Love it when they feature craft beers. A few months ago, they had Dogfish Head’s Higher Math, one of the biggest beers you can buy at like 18% ABV! Always a nice crowd, so be prepared to wait a bit at the bar on the weekend. Wish their parking lot was bigger, but it’s never deterred me!

Yum. First sushi place I’ve tried in Tampa and it was awesome! The atmosphere was fun and relaxing. I went for lunch with a friend and the attire ranged from suits to gym clothes. I’ll definitely be back.

AMAZING! My son & I absolutely love sushi. Since moving to the Tampa area I have been hesitant to try just any place. I was so impressed with the chef’s cleanliness and the temperature of the fish was very chilled. Presentation was great!

So I came back here wanting to try somewhere different for sushi outside of our usual spot, and that calls for an update. I originally wasn’t too impressed with here when we came over 2 years ago, but we were pleased after last night. My wife and I got a craving for some late night sushi and called here. I selected 3 rolls after going over their online menu which had several choices. I will say that last time we came for lunch and the selection/options were different, which was mostly what I didn’t like. I recall complaining about the lack of rolls without salmon, which wasn’t an issue yesterday. We got the ring of fire, blazin, and candy cane rolls. They were all very good. The quality and freshness of the fish was very pleasing, and all of the combinations were tasty! What really blew me away was the customer service. The gentleman who took my order over the phone was VERY courteous, ensured he got everything correct, and was just as courteous in person. I also like their carryout, where they come to you and you don’t have to get out of the car(it’s in the back). All that said, I’m raising my opinion of this spot up one star and will gladly recommend here to others.

What a great deal! You get your choice of soup or salad and 2 rolls(8 pieces each) from a list of 16 items for $ 10. I had the Eel Roll and the Salmon Avocado Roll. I was really impressed with the quality(and freshness) of the sushi as well as the way the roll was constructed. They were rolled out to perfection. Both rolls had avocado(which I love). The miso soup was nice & hot when we received it. It was full of flavor. We didn’t have to wait too long for our meals. The service was quick & friendly. This is definitely my new favorite sushi restaurant in the Westshore area. Now, I can see why it’s so popular. I can’t wait to go back so that I can try their specialty rolls. They look unique & yummy! Keep in mind that it opens at 11:30. Make sure you arrive early for lunch. There are 2 rows of parking in the front of the plaza but it fills up very quickly. I did notice that there is also some parking around the back of the building(perhaps for valet or curbside pickup).

Went there with some coworkers for happy hour(which starts at 5pm) and they did not disappoint. I read some reviews on Unilocal before I got there so I can be prepared lol. I ordered the Plum Wine along with another wine that was served in a mason jar with sliced cucumbers– both were delicious! The place got filled up pretty quickly so make reservations if you can. My appetizer was«on point» which made my trip there so worth it!

So I’m in Tampa, came through for a wedding. I arrived late-ish afternoon and wasn’t terribly starving. So I go straight to the hotel and check in. As with any hotel, there’s books and pamphlets and directories for everything from local hot spots to in house restaurants and room service. I take my time to review these options… Then, as I always end up doing, I «asked» Unilocal(if ya don’t know, now ya know. Mayne) Currently, unfortunately, because of work, most of you know I live in the desert of El Paso. Now then, by sheer luck, there’s an AMAZING sushi spot there with amazing management/owner. But still, I’m literally 1 block away from the freaking ocean, so I decide I NEED to check out sushi, if fish ain’t fresh HERE, then it ain’t fresh anywhere. And NOT to my surprise, there’s over 100 sushi places listed(on Unilocal) in the Tampa area. Now I didn’t wanna stay so close to the hotel, I wanted to get out and see the town… So I’m purposely looking for places that are 10 miles away or more… But I kept being drawn back to this certain spot. 330+ persons took the time to review this spot on Unilocal, making it the highest(in number) reviewed sushi place in Tampa, in Unilocal. Now we know Unilocalers can be picky, but dang Mayne. 4.5 stars after 300+?! Ughhhh, how can I NOT go there? I say ughhh because it’s literally on the same street as the hotel, 2.1 miles away lol. I could run there in 15 minutes flat. Anyways… So I roll up … Circle the joint(not because I’m casing it for a strong armed robbery, but because parking is a mess). Walked in, party of 1, seated immediately at the sushi bar. Perfect, as I got to watch/interact with sushi chef. Who, IS Japanese by the way. And yes, that is a big deal to me. I prefer my Japanese food at Japanese restaurants to be prepared by Japanese chefs. But anyways. Food was GREAT! Fast and friendly service(even though the place was packed. It’s recommend to get a reservation here) and it’s awesome. The fish was fresh, menu was plentiful. Prices were very fair. Sake nigiri was very thick and fatty. Mmmm, and again, Japanese chef is important. It’s NOT found on the menu, but in Japanese I asked if he could do sake nigiri Aburi. He knew exactly what to do and was more than happy to interact and oblige. So good. I’m glad I just caved in and trusted Unilocal. If in Tampa again, regardless of where I’m staying, I’ll surely go back. Sushi Mayne

WHAT a surprise — what perfect seasoning texture lightness in their cooking! Yes, my family has been in the USA since 1886 from Japan. I grew up on beef teriyaki and fresh baked fr scratch apple pie. Thanks to Unilocal and after studying the reviews slowly we decided to try Soho Sushi. Truly. Truly a huge surprise . Shrimp tempura cooked perfectly — light batter no grease succulent vegetables and excellent fresh shrimp that popped in your mouth, not over cooked. Best was the dashi sauce — just like moms. We sat at the sushi bar All four gentleman were extremely well and classically trained super meticulous extremely concentrated fast. Ingredients are excellent. Their sauces a 5 star, artistic flair maybe a 3 – 4. But I prefer flavor to showmanship. Pricing extremely reasonable for the quality. Rice perfect and amazing as I bit into the sushi pieces they did not collapse onto my plate = very frustrating. Very very well constructed and made. Intricate touches with spices roe sauces layering. Truly unique. I ate the candy cane tuna roll. Excellent. Also liked ring of fire, red dragon tuna fresh, MANY others. Great great flavors skillfully perfectly executed at very fair rare prices Lucky Tampa.

Was driving down Kennedy and noticed there was a free parking space in front of Soho Sushi today! YAY! I’ve been dying to try this sushi due to the raving reviews. and I’d have to agree with them! I was pretty lucky to stop in here during their daily happy hour between 5 – 7PM! I ordered the 4 sushi rolls(The Anjin, Bourbon Street, The Tokoro, The Hachi) on their Happy Hour menu… and ¾ were superb! The BOURBONSTREETROLLWASAMAZING! A MUSTORDER! Both the Tokoro and Hachi were swell as well, but did not compare to the Bourbon. The Anjin was alright. kind of reminded me of a California roll(not that I don’t like them, but it’s pretty basic). I’m not a huge fan of spinach, so that might have been why. I will definitely be back for more! I would say the only real negative to this restaurant is the parking… but they offer curbside if you want to avoid the parking ordeal.

Please be warned that this place is hard to find because the sign it’s lit up and the parking lot is very small. When I stepped into this place I was very surprised! It was packed, lively crowd, efficient staff. I sat at the sushi bar since I was by myself. I really wanted to try food off their regular dinner menu but I couldn’t turn down their seasonal sushi menu. I wasn’t disappointed at all. I ordered the Neptune which had tempura shrimp as well as raw tuna on top. I throughly enjoyed the sushi. I also ordered the dynamite scallops which were average. They didn’t really have any flavor to them beyond the natural flavor of scallops and the cooked mayonnaise on top. All in all good experience. I hope to come back to order a dinner entrée off their menu.

Always enjoy the food when I come here. The sushi here is great, the fish always taste fresh. For an appetizer, we got the Geso, which is fried squid with ponzu sauce over cucumbers. it was crisp, slightly sweet and savory. We also had the tuna tartare and candy cane roll, both delicious. The tuna tartare tasted well prepared, fresh, good flavor. Usually I’m not too much about the sauces placed onto sushi rolls, but the candy cane roll had a nice topping with its spicy sesame oil, mixed with green onion, red and white tuna. Mouth is watering as I am typing this out. The service here is great. Servers here are quick, attentive, and friendly. Even though this place gets incredibly packed, I have never felt rushed to finish my meal. The parking situation could be better. It is hard to find parking, there is a lot next door, but getting in and out of this place is a bit of a hassle. Overall I enjoy definitely recommend this place, I would say one of the top places to grab sushi here in Tampa.

Wow! This was by far one of the best sushi restaurants we have been to in the Tampa area! I will say first, as others have said too, that the parking situation sucks but worth the hassle. We arrived around 730 and were immediately seated even though they were super busy. Diana was our server and took great care of us. We started with the crab rangoon which was the best I have ever had! Seriously, so fresh and could actually taste the crab unlike other sushi places where it usually tastes like fried cream cheese. We also had the shrimp tempura appetizer which was good too. We shared the Florida roll, red dragon roll and the Neptune roll which was on a special menu. They were all amazing but the red dragon roll was by far my favorite. The service was awesome, cute(clean) little place. Definitely recommend and will for sure be back again in the near future!

My experience here couldn’t have been any better than it was. My fellow trusted Unilocalers were right on the money. It was a little chilly out the day we stopped in otherwise we would have sat at the cute outdoor patio for lunch. It is complete with quaint seating and lighting and a privacy fence. Parking could be a little messy if you arrive at key time as it is located in a tiny strip mall but considering how good the main course was, I wouldn’t mind walking a couple blocks if I had to. We were promptly greeted and sat at a private booth and our server was quick to appear with menus, water, and saki recommendations. We had a hot saki, an unfiltered saki with milk, and we shared the sushi/sushimi combo which included a plentiful assortment of ridiculously fresh cuts of sushimi and a California roll which came with a miso soup and a salad. All were amazing. I was especially impressed by the salmon sushimi which was extra buttery and delicious!

It’s been quite awhile since ive been here. I remember having to try sushi here and it was pretty good. I noticed this place has been remodeled from the last time I’ve been. Came here for lunch with my fiancé’, sister, and I. Gave a few items a try. –Hitashimono(fresh steamed spinach, chilled and topped with imitation crab and finished with ponzu sauce and sesame seeds.) –Ramen(very nice savory clear pork broth. noodles were okay. not much toppings. kinda expensive for $ 12) –Ring of Fire(fresh taste. good quality. 12 pieces) Service was great! Attentive, waters always filled. friendly and fast. I’m glad i was able to try this place out again and will remember that they have ramen and good sushi to try.

Quick Read: Perfect takeout for a night of Netflix and blanket on the couch. Best sushi I’ve had in Tampa, and large variety. I’ve been coming here regularly for about two years, have tried other sushi places in Tampa, and still come back to this one. Aside from some kick butt sushi, great service, and fast takeout service, they have a really great interior that is perfect for the start to a night out on the town with friends. Any of your standard fare is absolutely beautiful, and the Americanized rolls are good too — try the spider or volcano rolls. Crab rangoons are pretty delicious for an appetizer.

I was hoping to try Ramen in Tampa however, majority of their restaurants were closed on a Monday. So my fiancée had suggested to try this place out. Sushi was the next best thing for my craving however, looking at their menu they had one ramen to try out. Atmosphere/Location: A hole in the wall place right off the main street. Small parking area. Upon entering seemed like this place had been renovated. Came here about noon for lunch. This place has TV’s as well. Food: Started off with Hitashimono the fresh steamed spinach, chilled and topped with imitation crab and finished with ponzu sauce and sesame seeds. Great flavor, awesome appetizer to start with. Only one type of ramen broth(pork) traditional japanese noodles in broth with bean sprout, carrot, egg, scallion, cabbage. Vegetable $ 10, Chicken $ 11, Shrimp $ 12, Pork $ 12 Chose the Ramen with pork. The pork was perfectly cooked. buttery. thick slice. The broth was amazing. The waiter said it was a pork broth. It was clear. Usually pork broth i try is creamy. But this was great. Savory flavor. very comforting. As for the noodles. They were okay. Presentation looked very authentic. As for the portion; it was not worth $ 12 Sushi: RINGOFFIRE Marinated Tuna, Tempura Shrimp, Asparagus and Cucumber topped with Salmon, Avocado, Sweet & Spicy Sauce, Wasabi Mayo, Scallion and Flying Fish Roe. Very good quality. about 12 decent sized rolls. Fish tasted fresh. Service: Awesome! no complaints. Waiter very nice and courteous. Always refilled water without asking. Very attentive. Waitress knew how to take care of a table. Overall: Wanted to give this place 5 stars but was disappointed with the ramen portion for what you are paying for. However, will definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for authentic great quality sushi/Japanese food.

I am blown away as to how good this sushi is. Got there at almost 9pm and there was a 20 minute wait!!! And it was worth it. What I liked about this place and it’s a what makes a good sushi spot: The pieces of sushi were healthy, they weren’t stingy, and you can tell that is fresh high quality sushi. The prices were good, you can spend less than 20 and feel full. The food was amazing!!! Got some unagi, salmon, and a fire crab roll and it was all good. Might have to come back tomorrow while I’m still in town lol. Customer Service was decent, I Highly recommend this place!
