Not sure why the reviews are so high here. The service was ungodly slow an we came around 5 on a Friday. It wasn’t busy at all. All I could taste with the food was salt. Very salty. It was to the point where my wedding band barely fit by the end of the meal. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I’m also 99% sure my dinner came with a desert, yet the waitress failed to tell me.

Last night four of us enjoyed a wonderful evening at Toasted Pheasant. The service was very friendly, yet professional. We have eaten at this establishment many times before and always really enjoyed it. The food was really delicious. We all started with French Onion Soup. It was done very traditional with the crock covered with cheese. It was perfect. We each ordered different entrees. An English guest of mine raved about the Fish and Chips. She said that it was the best that she had in the US since leaving England more than forty years ago. Even the coffee service done in individual French Presses was wonderful. The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere and is not at all noisey. This was once again a great dining experienc.

I went here bc of reviews on Unilocal but I really was not feeling it. I had the french onion soup, salad with balsamic dressing, seafood crêpe, and the tiramasu, while my friend had the same except she also had the shrimp bruschetta. The french onion soup was pretty good, as well as the tiramasu, but the rest did not show any oh my god, or heaven to my palatte. In fact the seafood crêpe tasted too fishy and it really turned me off. the inside of the place was nice, a bit empty but we were there at lunch, and the service was nice. This place doesn’t seem like anything special to me, as well as the other options on the menu.

Why 2 stars? Because it’s a lot of $$ for not a lot of :) :) — — — Visited last week because I’ve seen the place shooting up through the rankings. I don’t get it. I didn’t enjoy the french onion soup, the bread, the crêpe or the Crème Brulee. All this came to about $ 30 with tip and honestly none of it was enjoyable. It’s kind of far out on North Dale Mabry, so it’s not worth the drive from central Tampa. The staff was very friendly, which gave them an extra star. Maybe I was there on a bad night?

So we went here with high hopes only to have them crushed. We asked to see a wine list and the server replied«we are redoing it so it’s all messed up» we replied«but you still have wine right?» he said«yeah do you want red or white» my fiancé said«red» so he left a brought her a red(WTF). Ok so for the food we started with a baked brie salad and although the brie was nice the salad was just dry mixed greens, I flagged the server and asked if we could get some oil and vinegar or something, not sure if they forgot the dressing or it just comes dry but it was not good dry. I would have loved like a raspberry jam sauce or something with it, maybe some fruity sauce over the cheese, it was just boring. Next we had the bisque and it was ok but would have liked it to be a little thicker. Ok, for the entrée we shared was the chicken picatta ITWASHORRIBLE. I almost never send food back for just being bad, but I was going to until my other half convinced me to just suck it up, which I hate because they need to know how bad it was. The chicken breast was full sized about 1 inch thick and looked like it was broiled and put on a plate with a weak lemon burre blanc(no capers). The polenta was not hot just room temp and it was just ok. Pound that chicken out, sear it then finish cooking it in the sauce with capers so it absorbs some taste and stays nice and tender. Obviously I didn’t enjoy this visit but from all the other reviews maybe we just got unlucky.

Wait Staff = 5 stars Ambiance = 5 stars Food = 3.5 stars I had really high expectations due to the high ratings, but overall it’s not a bad restaurant, but I would not consider them the best in Tampa either. The She Crab Bisque was very salty almost inedible, but everything else was good. I ordered the vegetarian pasta, so fresh and flavorful and my husband ordered the steak and fries and he enoyed it. The bread & salads were also good. Unfortunately, we were too full for dessert. Overall I give the Toasted Pheasant 4 stars.

Such as cute and inviting place! The food was pretty good. The service was great. It is a 3.5 star restaurant. Lobster Mac & Cheese — Just ok, not amazing. Wasn’t a lot of lobster, so I think our expectations were higher. She Crab Soup — Very good! Almost an addictive quality to it. Grouper Niçoise — Very good and very light. A Good choice if you’re looking for a light meal. Seafood Medley Crêpe — Very tasty! Large chunks of seafood in a light sauce. Very good! Dessert Crêpe(Came with the crêpe dinner) — Tasty enough. Not a huge fan of dark chocolate, so it was just ok. Overall, a good experience. Glad we were able to try this restaurant. Would go back!

A little over rated. I was hoping for more from the beef bourginon but it was not much more than chunks of meat in brown sauce. My bf got the grouper noiciose and it was fantastic. I would have definitely enjoyed his dish. The service was good and you can tell the owners take pride in their restaurant. It was just a little disappointing.

Chef Peter is inspired. Went to Bastille Day Wine Dinner and he just nailed it. Five course French-inspired meal each paired with a fabulous wine. I’m afraid that by the time the dessert course came around I was simply too full and pleased to really appreciate it. The merlot braised beef short ribs were like butter! Loved the shrimp beignet, pulled duck salad and mushroom bisque too. Bought four bottles of the wine we sampled — the sparkling Blanquette de Limoux and the Dependable Pinot Noir were my favorites. I’ve actually been here several times and only once had slow service, and the food has always been very good but this really takes it. My other favorite time here was a 3 hour lunch with my mother and sister who were visiting from out of state. Chef Peter made it a special memory. Kudos also to Frank, who is an excellent server!

Ok, first the good points. The ambiance is very nice, the servers were friendly and attentive, the host generously arranged for us to be seated even though we arrived a full hour before our reservation, and none of the food tasted bad(except the coffee). So why only two stars? None of the food tasted that great either. Except the mashed potatoes. Those were some damn fine mashed potatoes. And the dinner rolls were very very good, served with seasoned olive oil, though they looked a little sad and lonely, those two tiny rolls, adrift on a big plate. But the rest of the food was unremarkable. Obviously, based on the other reviews of this restaurant, other people have had wonderful experiences there, maybe we just made unfortunate selections. My companion and I were enticed by their restaurant week menu($ 25 per person). He had the baked brie salad, coq au vin, and crème brûlée, I had the she-crab bisque, grouper, and an apple tart(the restaurant week special came with strawberry crepes, but we splurged on different desserts, wanting something more exciting). It all sounded lovely. But the baked brie salad was not exciting, and the pastry seemed a bit burned. The soup was alright, but not particularly rich or interesting. It tasted like something from Red Lobster. Still, we had high hopes for the main courses, which ended up being disappointing. My fish was bland. Maybe that’s the nature of grouper, but I’d hoped they could jazz it up a bit. It was well cooked, but overall, the side veggies and the aforementioned mashed potatoes were much, much better than the actual fish. The coq au vin was, again, well cooked, moist and tender, but with next to no flavor from the sauce. Dessert was passable. The crème brûlée was creamy, with a nice crisp sugar shell, but the apple tart was unappealing. You know those pastries that have been sitting all day in the dessert case at Starbucks? Yeah. Kinda like that. But at Starbucks, we’d at least have gotten real cream with our coffee. When our little French press pot of coffee came out with dessert, it was served with steamed whole milk, not the cream we’d asked for(the server told us what it was, I didn’t just assume that). Maybe this is just a me thing, but I don’t care for milk in normal brewed coffee, and was surprised that this was their default option(and that I wasn’t offered cream when I asked about it). The coffee tasted burnt. I’m not even sure how that’s possible with a French press. Though I did think it was funny that it was served to us still un-pressed. How are we supposed to know when it’s brewed long enough? At home, I use a timer. I don’t carry it with me when I go out to eat. By the end of the meal, our wine(two glasses of the«wine of the week», at $ 6 per glass), dessert substitutions, shared single press pot of coffee, and tip(hey, I don’t hold bland food against the server, they do their job with a smile, they’re getting at least 15% regardless of the food, and as mentioned, the staff were all very good) had pushed this pretty close triple digits, and honestly, the way the food tasted, I’d have still be sad at the end of this meal if it’d been half the price. Nothing was terrible(Except the coffee. Did I mention that already? Yes? That’s because I really care about coffee), but it just wasn’t exciting or exceptional on any level, and at that price point, I expect better.

My husband & I had dinner for the first time & we were impressed! Everyone in the staff was very nice & our waiter Frank was excellent! He was very helpful, genuinely friendly & attentive but not overdone! It’s a small restaurant with not many tables with plenty of space & privacy between you & the other guests. On a Friday night they had live music which was perfect. It wasn’t too loud or overbearing but very pleasant. My husband & I split two meals because so many things sounded good. First we had the mushroom risotto & shrimp. This dish was very good with just the right amount of flavor. Next we had the chicken picatta. The flavor was excellent! The only downside was that a few bites of the chicken were undercooked & still pretty pink. We avoided those bites but throughly enjoyed the rest! The portion sizes were plenty & though there were soups, salads & small plates I wanted to try, I had plenty of food with just an entrée. For dessert we had the crêpe & though it wasn’t up to Paris standards it was still good. The prices were very reasonable for what was offered on the menu. Before coming here I thought it was maybe super pricey due to the $$$ rating. I found there were many items on the menu for all budgets. I would definitely dine here again & I’m looking forward to trying more menu items!

Excellent food and excellent service! All around A+ My husband and I found this place through and decided to give it a try for a casual date night. We walked in the Friday before Valentine’s Day without a reservation(oopsies!) and were graciously offered a short wait for a table(whew!) We sat at the bar and ordered a bottle of wine and an appetizer of LobsterMac to pass the time. The bartender on staff that evening gave us such attentive and friendly service we decided to tell the hostess to give the table to someone else while we stayed at the bar!(I can’t remember his name– but he was a young bearded fellow with light hair) We ordered everything to share and noshed side by side at the bar exchanging witty banter with our new favorite bartender. It was a fun change– and made the experience even better than we’d hoped. The food was rich and amazing. The mushroom phyllo appetizer is a MUST order(we literally said YUM after every bite!) and the chocolate bread pudding dessert was a perfectly sweet ending. Great place! Already planning on making a trip back when the in-laws are in town!

Nice ambiance and the service is great! Our waitress checked on us frequently, but not obnoxiously so. The food is fabulous. The only thing I wasn’t a big fan of was the French Onion Soup, as it could have used a little more salt. Everything else we tried– mushroom risotto, lobster mac & cheese, beef bourguignon– all delicious! We’ll definitely be making a trip back!

Service was perfect and so was dinner. We had the French onion soup, lamb and ribeye. The lamb was the best part. Nice size rack of lamb, not small one bite pieces like many other places in tampa. We will definitely come back !!

Service was amazing from the first moment we sat down. constantly throughout our lunch the server checked up on us frequently but not obsessively … Their menu was short but they have a few of your«typicals».and some unique plates. My sister had a salad and some kind of slider combo… beef and fish I believe… the beef was good but she liked the fried fish slider the most. so I’m thinking their fish n chip plate would be amazing I had a chicken corn chowder soup and seared salmon sandwich with fries… the chicken in the soup was a little too dry. but the sandwich was wonderful. the salmon was a thin cut. but somehow it was nicely balance .It didn’t make the sandwich lacking even though it was thin. We also had a tiramisu and almond crème brûlée for dessert. both were thick and rich with flavor… the chef added some fresh raspberries concoction to our dessert plates since it was our first time there and that was yummy and broke up the sweetness and thickness of the desserts in between bites. Overall I enjoyed this place. service was awesome and you can tell each plate was carefully made. the atmosphere is nice and the food was good. I’ll definitely come back again.

Place is usually packed– so make a reservation. We went on a wild game night. Family and I shared rabbit, quail, elk, and one other red meat and frog legs. We all had the onion soup to start. It was good, almost as good as Bourdain’s in NYC. Son had the frog legs– We almost fought over them! My rabbit was wonderful, cooked in a white wine reduction. Great beer list as well. Check it out. They often offer a wine paring dinner mid-week for a great price.

This is a realtively new place. The chef is from Australia, I believe and really takes pride in what he serves and how it is done. Thre crepes are delicate and tasty, and the portions are right sized to a little light. If you really want to chow down – you might want to order an app or two. Wine is nice, and inexpensive. A positive experience.

This place is phenomenal! They did a great job with the build-out, its modern, clean, and comfortable. I’ve been here twice since it has opened for lunch and the food and service were outstanding. They have specials everyday and a great beer and wine selection. Check it out for lunch or dinner and you wont be disappointed!
