A couple of my friends live in Tarrytown and told me about trivia nights The Tapp hosts every Tuesday — I love trivia so I decided to meet them here last night. The Tapp looks like a typical bar — dark, loud, music playing, etc. They have a large selection of beer which is definitely a standout, and they host weekly events which keeps the atmosphere fun. There are a few tables along one of the walls for seating — they have a full menu so technically you can sit and have a meal here. The menu is pretty basic — typical bar snacks plus some sandwiches and salads. We were seated at the bar so we decided to share some small stuff — nachos, potato wedges, a margherita pizza, and hummus. Nothing was drop dead delicious — but it’s not the focal point of The Tap so it wasn’t disappointing. Two standouts were the nachos which were made with potato chips(strange but it worked — was that done on purpose?) and the hummus which was chunky and presented nicely — they didn’t skimp on portion either. I wouldn’t come back for the food but I would for the atmosphere overall — a fun place in Tarrytown to get together with friends(we got 2nd place in trivia by the way ;-).

Went for dinner before going to the Music Hall for a show. We were seated quickly and our waitress was very nice. Beer menu was interesting, had the Old Dog, very good and reasonably priced. My wife had a tequila cocktail that she did not like. We had the pretzels, hot and tasty for an appetizer, then the turkey chili along with the margerita pizza for dinner. Chili was tasty, pizza had no taste. Atmosphere was very loud as the 4 woman sitting next to us was quite inebriated and squawking like a bunch of chickens. Overall, not bad, would I go back, No.

Summative: excellent This place is known for the beer. There is a good reason as their beer selection is excellent. They have some unique brews out there. The food was also well prepared. The bartender provided excellent service. Pricing was fair. We had the baked ziti and Gnocchi. Both tasted great. We hope to be back soon.

Quaint tavern near the river in downtown Tarrytown. Excellent specials, a cut above bar food. Very hearty white turkey chili. The place has a low key atmosphere a definite place to go when you want a beer(full bar) or really good food.

Great place for a beer and bar bite. I really enjoyed the Elysium pumpkin beer(complete with the sugar rim). The bartender was very attentive and friendly, and helped my hubby out by charging his phone for him.

I really liked this place and I thought it was a pretty fun place to spend an hour hanging out. Talked with the bartender for a bit and got a small appetizer. I just tried the pretzels, which were pretty solid. You might think«how can you have a bad pretzel???». Well, with my luck, I have been exposed to bad pretzels. Luckily for me(and believe me, I’m not a lucky person), this was not one of those times. Great stuff. I tried a couple of their beers as well. They had a pretty decent selection. Most of their beers were fairly run of the mill local craft that you could get at most places, but it was still a nice to have choices. This place and bridge view are my favorite watering holes in Tarrytown.

Margherita pizza was delightful, really hit the spot. Espresso cocktail was strong, knocked me on my ass. If all bars made food like this, ‘bar food’ wouldn’t be an insult.

We like it here, we caught some live music last night and enjoyed it with some local beers. This place could be come our new local go to… Summer update: Get central air or close on hot nights. The place smells!

Five stars for the beer. Then, subtract 4 stars for the food. Been going to The Tapp, and coming back, since it opened. This was my habit, because it was a fun, casual environment with a great selection of revolving beers and fresh tasty food. What changed? Today our«chili lime» edamame tasted like the plain microwave stuff from Stop n Shop and our pizza«margherita» was the size of a saucer plate and with the look and taste of a Tony’s frozen pizza. Major letdown from what we came to expect as a rotating variety of fresh, delicious food. I truly hope that the new chef, new management, or whatever has lead to this mess decides to clean up their act quickly. For there are new acts coming to town(main street) and people will speak with their money and go elsewhere. If I want to replicate the experience today, I will save my money and head to Mrs. Green’s for some beer, grab a pizza from Mr. Nick’s, and enjoy my meal at home.

Stopped in late on a Sunday night for a quick bite to eat. Great little pub. Brendan is a great barman and kept our group of three fed and watered. Best pizza on the planet! Cozy little snug for a relaxing chat and bevy.

A no-brainer for dinner with a beer. I came here with clients around 6:30 on a Wednesday and ordered a great local beer and the bolognaise with a house salad. Delicious, and not giant«American» portions, so I was actually able to clean my plate. We started with the house-made hummus, which was good but I would maybe order it without the balsamic glaze next time — the pita triangles were messy to handle. My colleagues had the sausage roll(giant sandwich, and delicious), and the chicken quesadillas(easily polished off). Quick service with a decent, wide-ranging beer selection. Recommended.

If you really truly love food you may experience moments like the one I’m about to describe, one that The Tapp delivers on… Sometimes when I’m eating something truly amazing I have this moment when all I can think is «all there is in this world is me and this food». I don’t want to be talked to because I’m in a moment. I’m indulging in this experience. Maybe that makes me weird but then I don’t want to be normal. Anyway back to the tapp. Their grilled cheese is one of those moments. There is nothing more to say. Just go there now and eat it. If they’re closed wait outside until they’re open. Go now.

I wanted to love The Tapp so much, and if I had gone for only beer, I probably would have. My friend and I came on a Saturday night at 6ish for dinner and a few beers. When we first arrived, the place was pretty empty. The ambiance of the place alone is great — it’s small and cozy, with great lighting and a decent amount of seating for a smaller place. The craft beer menu is also fantastic — they had a ton of varieties on the board. We started with the hummus to go along with our beers, which was fantastic. The balsamic reduction on it was a delicious treat, and it made us very excited about the food that we had ordered. Sadly, our excitement was preemptive. The service was pretty awful — a lot of gaps in between placing an order and things actually arriving. Plates and drinks were dropped and then our server disappeared, not noticing if we needed water refills or waiting to see if we had a question on anything. I ordered the Humdinger sandwich with avocado, since it was vegan and sounded fantastic. My friend ordered the pizza with extra cheese. Both were awful — my sandwich bread was tooth-chipping hard; I get toasting bread so it’s a little crunchy, but this was rock hard and charred. It said it would arrive toasted, but this was burnt in so many places and unappetizing. My friend is notorious for going on and on about something he’s eating when he’s enjoying it(I heard about how good the hummus was about 5x while we were eating it). As I asked him how his pizza was, he muttered, «Yeah, it’s pretty good.» He didn’t even finish it — and he said he would have preferred Ellio’s frozen pizza — it was that disappointing. We both agreed that we would possibly return for drinks, but not before getting food somewhere else — this is not the place to go to on an empty stomach. The food and service were so incredibly disappointing that I’d almost prefer to just go somewhere with a less impressive beer menu, just so I could experience good food and service.
