Amazingly delicious sushi at a super reasonable price. Definitely will be coming back to this spot. So Eat roll and So Crunchy roll are best. The place can use a remodel of the space, but the sushi is delish none the less!

My boyfriend and I moved to Tarzana 4 months ago and still haven’t found a new sushi spot until last night. We tried this place last night and it is now our new go to sushi spot! It’s a very small place but those are always the best. We sat at the sushi bar infront of the owners who are super fun and amazing chefs. We started with a large bottle of cold sake and a large Sapporo which were cheaper than our old spot so we were happy. For food here’s what we ordered: * Popcorn Shrimp: it was not deep fried like most places. Now my FAVORITE popcorn shrimp in LA * Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice: really good. My boyfriend doesn’t like sauces on his so this was perfect since they don’t put any on it here. They are big pieces; we ordered 3 orders which is 6 pieces and only finished 4. * Yellowtail Belly: ABSOLUTELYAMAZING. We had two orders but I could have eaten this all night long. * Albacore Belly: it was good but the yellowtail was wayyyyyy better. I suggest ordering this before the yellowtail belly. * Albacore with crispy onion: they have this listed as seared but we wanted it raw. It was SOOOO good. Basically everything was amazingly delicious. The staff is fun, nice and on top of everything. Definitely happy to have found our new spot. Can’t wait to go back next week!

We have literally tried every sushi restaurant in the valley and we keep coming back for more here. Ryo is one of the owners and he’s the bomb! He remembers people’s orders off the top of his head. The sushi is always fresh. The rolls are freakin awesome and i have never left disappointed. It is small in there, so Be prepared to wait. Reservations are accepted as well. Definite must in the valley! This updated review is about the customer service only. We have frequented this spot for YEARS! WE have become quite friendly with the owner Ryu and some of the servers. They know are order and all! BUT on our LAST visit, there was a new server I have never seen before. There was some conflict with going back and forth about our seating. They kept trying to o Put us in 5 seats when we were 4 adults and 2 kids. I guess implying one of the kids should stand??? Who knows. Meanwhile, the bar was pretty open and the hostess places a party of 2RIGHT in the middle. Confused, we waited patiently. Again they came back and said«we only have the 5 seats together on the end of the bar» Puzzled, I said BUTWEARE6! she kept saying«ok 1 minute» we were all so confused. She came back with some young looking server and he said to me“we can’t do anything about it take it or leave it“ Me:” I understand that BUT you guys just places these two people in the middle. They have one chair available on each side. We can nicely ask them to move over and I’m sure they will“ No joke! The guy put his hand in my face and said“I’m not dealing with you“ Omg!!! My husband just about turned white and I can see the vein coming out of his forehead. My friends husband took him outside to prevent something. My friend went up to ryo and explained the situation and he sided with the waiter!!! I said but ryo we come here all the time, we never have problems! The cherry on top for me was«we have a lot of return customers» In other words… I can careless about your loyalty. We left and haven’t been back and everyone else I’ve told the story to has not been back. I’m so upset about it because normally I’m not a complainer it a confrontational person. I was just stating common sense and the obvious! I’m actually hurt that ryo didn’t defend us knowing how loyal we have been. Sharing our drinks with him, laughing and joking with him all the time and just to throw us shade like that. Wow. I have found another spot just as amazing and me and all my fiends go there now!

So sushi is hands down the best QUALITY sushi your going to find in the san fernando valley. It is delicious, fresh, and the portions of fish to rice is incredible. The sushi chefs will go out of their way to make you something you desire even if it’s not listed on the menu. Be sure to get there early to secure a spot or even call ahead of time to make a reservation. Lastly I highly recommend you try the cupcake roll and the garlic shrimp roll!

Arrived at 11:50 am and there was already a line up people waiting! Since there was so many people, I had high expectations for this place! This restaurant is tiny and gives off a «hole-in-the-wall» vibe. Everyone seems to get the lunch special. I got the hand roll special, which comes with 3 hand rolls. I also got the SO Crispy roll. The hand rolls are huge! The sushi tasted very fresh and I can see why people really enjoy this restaurant. The price is a little pricey, but overall definitely a great place to have lunch.

I was still on my mission to find a great sushi spot… & I think I did! With some of the reviews I was a little reluctant but then a few were cracking me up so I thought good food is good food so… I believe we sat in front of Ryo. I didn’t want to ask but was very observant of the whole place. He was funny, talked about how busy it gets & how people get mad. It was crowded & a little wait but that was a positive indication to me. Food was awesome! Great rice/sushi portions, fresh, service was just fine & the prices were reasonable. I’m always busy but when I get to treat myself, sushi is my shiz! It’s a little farther than I’d hope for sushi, but when you have an overall good review from me you bet your sweet patootie I will be back!

Was there tonight with my girl. I saw two couples in front of me waiting but I was like na fuck that, so I slipped a 20 dollar to the waitress and passed the two couples and sat in front of the chef. Think his name is rio. That fool was so funny talking about«fuck this shit motherfucker if you don’t like my food I cut you with a knife» I then noticed the couples we passed were sitting really mad and frustrated especially one couple who stormed out and went to zankou next door. Whatever the case we had a great time spending money and trying the food for the first time. I recommend slipping a 20 and cutting in line cuz fuck waiting you feel me? Haha. G unit.

Awful service! After waiting for 30 minutes to be seated the waitress blatantly sat another couple ahead of us, when I said we were next she completely ignored me. I’m very disappointed especially as a regular customer. I hope Ryo sees this because my husband and I were his regulars, we ate there once a week but not anymore.

I have been a regular at So Sushi since it opened about 3 years ago, but after tonight I’ve had enough. My wife and I were the only people waiting to be seated at the bar and had been waiting for almost 30 minutes until a spot opened up at the bar. Just before the waitress cleaned up the two spots, a couple strolled in who were clearly friends of Ryo, and were immediately seated before us. The waitress knew we were next and that we had been waiting for 30 minutes but she kept ignoring me when I asked her why they are being seated before. The service here is terrible and the sushi quality is definitely not worth the wait.

SO is the BEST sushi spot in the valley by far. Sushi is always fresh and very generous portions. Taka and Ryo will go out of their way to make anything you ask for. I asked for a special sea-bass roll and I now get it every time. Great lunch specials as well. SO Good!

Finally writing my review after a few weeks. This place is pretty good. Was my first time coming here with my girlfriend. The first thing you’ll notice is that the place is small which I kind of like to be honest because you get a little more personal with the staff. As you enter there’s a cool chalkboard where you can write little messages.(Girlfriend and I did :)) the sushi was good. Everything was fresh and spot on, the only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because there were no raw fish options. And when I say raw I mean ALIVE! Other than that it’s a pretty cool spot. Give it a shot. You won’t be disappointed.

Best sushi rolls in the valley. This is the real thing, I’ve tried so many places in the valley area. One of the best places for nigiri sushis and sashimis, but without a doubt the best sushi rolls I’ve ever had. Hats off to master chef Ryo.

So Sushi, SOOOOOOAMMAAZZZINNGG!!! I have been going to So Sushi for a few years now. All the Sushi chefs Ryo in particular are just the best I’ve seen in Los Angeles. The fish is the best I’ve had so far and their rolls and creations are unique and creative. They always have some special fish depending on the season so make sure to ask what unique stuff they have in that day. I’ve recently moved over 3 hours away and I still make my way back to So Sushi as often as I possibly can. It is a little bit on the pricier side but it is worth every penny. This place will be my #1 spot for a long time!

Came her for my daughters birthday. 8 of us scores ranged from 3 stars to 5. I would lean more towards the 3 or 4 range. Food was ok not great. We were a large party so be aware it’s a small place that probably couldn’t accommodate a larger size. And they got the order wrong several times It’s ok. Just not great.

I’ve only had the pleasure of enjoying So Sushi at lunch time, but from what I’ve had, I’ve really liked everything I’ve eaten. My appetite is on the much smaller side, so I generally order their sushi sampler(for lack of a better word), that showcases the fresh selection of fish and a small spicy tuna roll. With the exception of the egg sushi, which I just don’t like anywhere, I’m always impressed by the quality of their ingredients. The rice is more loosely packed, the fish just excellent. The unagi here is also very good, slightly sweet, perfect as a dessert at the end. The prices during lunch are really fair and I’ve always left satisfied. The ambience is slightly dated, but it works for the restaurant. When my fiancé and I have come at lunch, it usually dies down early on, so the wait time is never long. Seating along the sushi bar is generally filled first, with tables taking up the rest of the smaller sized restaurant. It’s fun watching the sushi chefs, because they do converse with the regulars, and while you enjoy their little creations, they check up to see how everything is tasting. The service from behind the counter is always pleasant and warm. The servers themselves are slightly awkward, but it’s never uncomfortable, just kind of off.

I’m so glad that I found this place in the Valley. I would say this place by it’s way better than other sushi places in the Valley Area. It’s a bit small restaurant with lots of customers. I personally like the sushi bar Area, My Favorite dish its their Sashimi Salad, die for !!! Their sushi quality it’s good and it’s fresh and it’s not smelly, their Chefs are really Friendly and they will recognize you when you go in for the second time. At nights get a bit crowded which you have to wait to be seated ! But I think it’s worth it

So Sushi is located in a shopping center off of Ventura Blvd(next to Zankou Chicken). There is a big parking lot but most of the parking spots are for compact cars. If you are around this area and you are a sushi lover you should definitely try this place; it is one of the best sushi places in the valley. So Sushi is a casual and small place but the food portion is pretty big, delicious and fresh. «So just eat roll A.» was my favorite from my last visit. The service is not great but it’s not disappointing either, if you sit by the bar. I would definitely come back here to try different fishes.
