Not many choices in Taylor. The oil that the chips are fried in was old. You could smell the stale oil before he set down the chips. The tortilla soup was really good. My husband said his steak tacos would have been good if the oil the tortillas were fried in hadn’t been stale. We also had a silver fish on our napkin. The service was very friendly.

We’ve lived in Taylor for about a year and just found out about this place. My husband and I went on our anniversary, which fell on a Tuesday. We were very pleasantly surprised. The salsa is good and spicy. I had the house specialty, which I can’t spell without looking at their menu, and he had the fajitas. Both were delicious. I’m glad we found this restaurant because Taylor’s restaurant scene is pretty bare bones.

I had the Enchiladas Del Mar they were good but the rice wasn’t. My boyfriend had the Chicken Mole and he didn’t like it at all! I tried the Mole and I don’t even like Mole and I know what Mole tastes like. The Mole was not spicy it had no flavor what so ever! Never again, really disappointed!

Terrible service, soggy food, and the most pathetic excuse for a Margarita I’ve ever had.

This place is a gem! I was taken by surprise given it’s location(hidden on a side street in Taylor). Delicious food, great service, and pleasant atmosphere.

A most excellent meal! This is a quirky little side street café, with friendly team service, which is slow, but in a leisurely way. We didn’t mind-why rush? The cabbage-jalapeño ‘salsa’ was unique and excellent. The steak fajitas, while a little heavy on the onions and peppers-were terrific. As was the enchiladas suiza. But the biggest prize was the FLAN. Absolutely fabulous. We will go back here frequently, and highly recommend it.

This place almost does it right. Settled in a small downtown building in Taylor, Tx, Ricoco’s Latin Grill is a small family run organization. The service can be painfully slow. Slow to the point to where you’ll order an appetizer, and be completely ready to go when the food comes out. The service however, is fast to accommodate your needs while you wait. All the people here seem to be very nice. I’ve had the Molcajete here twice, both in chicken and combination. The flavors are very unique. Props to «Chef Armando» for this specialty concoction. I’m very glad I found this place. I’ve lived out here for a year and just found this gem. Just goes to show that good food can be found in small places.

We decided to do take out here and try something different. I wasn’t impressed at all and they even left some things out. First we had the appetizer platter. By the time we got everything home the nachos from this platter were mashed potatoes. They werent any good but that could be my fault for getting something with nachos to go. The other parts of this were taquitos and a quesadilla. Each were pretty good but nothing stood out. My wife and I got fajitas. Generally you get tortillas with your fajitas and they even asked me what type of tortillas i wanted, yet we didnt get any. The fajitas themselves were a bit chewy but had an ok flavor. The onion to meat ratio was ridiculous. There were what seemed like 20 lbs of onions left. They tasted ok but there were so much it felt like thats all we had. Between the onion tortillaless fajitas and the mashed potato nachos it wasnt a great experience. We couldve done better by sticking to Rio Grande or something but maybe ill give this a try when we can go inside.

I tried this joint after a few years. I wasn’t disgusted this time but underwhelmed. For a group of folks who know food, even a culinary expert — don’t you think you can do better? Is it that you stopped caring? You know that Austin has food worth driving for. The service was better this time. I wasn’t charged for water. I ate my food.

I tried the Chicken Mole Poblano. I had never had mole before. I thought it would be sweet and spicy but it was more salty and flavorful. It was pretty good. I went with a large group(16) and the service was pretty good. We all got our food at about the same time, drinks and chips were refilled. And I got to try an interesting dip with cabbage and jalapeños. I liked it! Anyway, a good place to eat and excellent Mexican style food.

This is certainly a hidden gem in Taylor. Service is great and food is even better. Spicy but not too spicy. One of my favorite places in town to eat.

Latin food at its best! Been eating here for a while and haven’t had a bad dish yet! Ceviche, moljete, enchiladas, fajitas, key lime pasta, etc makes my mouth water! You may have to wait a few extra minutes because they are making your order FRESH. No preheating meat. Chef Armando cuts it all himself and cooks it fresh for each order. Lots of fantastic shrimp dishes. If you don’t like spicy ask them to tame it down since he seasons your dish only as he makes it. If you like spicy then try some of their spicier dishes– shrimp or chicken elimenado or a moljete. Richard makes yummy drinks also. His signature Mexican martini is a favorite. Don’t expect the tex-mex flavors here. You get so much better flavors that make you come back for more. They can cater and host parties also!

We were really excited to go here after seeing the reviews, but never again. To sum things up, the steak was tough on the carne asada and my wife’s burrito was mediocre. So we order flan for desert. My wife takes our youngest to get a gumball and sees the daughter or one of the daughters scraping the Flan out with a knife. She pulls the knife out of the flan, licks the knife and then sticks it back into the flan to finish getting it out. Yeah we sent the flan back and left. Gross.

My honey has been trying to bring me here for 5YEARS. Now I realize that I have lost 5 years of my life in which I could have been enjoying this, albeit infrequently because I live in Dallas. We split a Molcajete. Fajitas in steroids is how owner Ricardo described this dish. And it was so amazingly seasoned that I only wish I came hungrier. Do yourself a favor and make the jaunt of 35 to come to taste a part if Texas you won’t forget.

Ricoco’s is one of my favorite restaurants. Period. I’ll be a snob, too, and pull the«I’ve traveled to sooo many places» card and still admit that I love this place. I was pleasantly surprised when they opened such a classy restaurant in such a small town.(I’m originally from here, so I’m allowed to say that, right?). Here’s my opinion: The food: It’s mostly Latin American, people. Not your standard Tex-Mex fair, so it’s mostly fish and shrimp, light to the taste and oh so very fresh. I’ve had several dishes here, and the Tacos del Mar stand out in my memory as being very flavorful. That being said, they *do* have some Tex-Mex standards that you can choose from, my favorite being a fajita beef Taco Salad. The beef is to die for. I usually judge a restaurant by its chips & salsa, and this one passes the test. Both types of salsa/dip are amazing(and very spicy!). The service: Every time I go here, the service has been fantastic. Everyone is friendly and oftentimes the actual owner will serve you. You do have to wait a bit for your food, but that’s because THEY’REMAKINGITFRESHFORYOU. So calm down if it takes a little more than 10 minutes for them to get your chow. It’s worth it. The drinks: I haven’t drank too much here, but I did have my very first legal drink at this restaurant. The owner(or manager?) actually made it for me — a Hurricane, since I wasn’t quite sold on the taste of alcohol yet. It was DELICIOUS. Just thinking about it now is making my mouth water. The atmosphere: Smallish but cozy restaurant in old, historic Taylor. I love it. It feels hidden but in a good way, like I know an awesome secret. I also love that they usually play Spanish pop music. Cool bar. The price/portion size: This is the only reason I don’t give Ricoco’s 5 stars. It *is* a bit pricey, especially for the portions you are given. Some dishes have«normal»(i.e. large) portions for a restaurant that serves chips & salsa, such as the Taco Salad. Yet for some dishes the portions are a bit small, such as the Tacos del Mar.(This comes with the standard Spanish rice and refried beans, along with two shrimp tacos, which are tasty but not stuffed with a whole lot of… stuff.) I will say, though, anything Tex-Mexy like the Taco Salad is priced average(I think around $ 8?) while the entrees are more expensive($ 10 – 15, depending). Just a guess, but this is probably because everything(really good) is seafood, which is expensive to process and ship. However, it’s a classy joint, and to me it’s totally worth spending a few extra bucks to get a quality meal in a town that has mostly gross fast food joints. TL;DR: Give it a try. It has great quality food, good people and a delightful atmosphere. It is pricey for some entrees, but there are cheaper options if you’re not up for it.

Two places in Taylor in just 2 weeks… Small, clean and friendly… Start off with the Salsa, and wow some of the best I have had… It just tasted«fresh» and with a nice kick. Chips were chips… Queso fell a little on the flat side of flavor, and the fact were not fans of cheese that hardens back to its former self. Wife went with the lunch special. pulled pork, sauce on the side… although the wife didn’t like the sauce, I always make sure to try them, and this was really good… pulled pork was superb and the option of them served in a fresh corn or flour tortilla is nice… rice was fresh and fluffy, better than most we have had. OK I have had a few Enchilada with«Suiza Sauce» before, but none quiet like this… I think its the splash of wine they put in the sauce that sets it off… and hands down the moistest moist made chicken enchiladas EVER… Black beans were good… sad to see that the dont serve the poblano rice any longer… Our food did take a bit to come out, but well worth the wait… the staff works together to ensure things stay full. well worth the Adventure…

I went here with the kennel family for a Christmas dinner. The food was awesome. The Mexican martini’s were even more so! I had the Taco’s del Mar with fish and those were some of the best tacos I’ve ever had. The fish is cooked in a garlic butter sauce that is to die for. Next time I will try the mocjete. Someone at the table had it and I was so fascinated with it. It looked amazing. This is a small town restaurant. Nothing fancy about it but the menu. Rick was our waiter and he was very attentive. So if you ever find yourself in Taylor, be sure to stop for the mocjete… and the martini’s!
