Great food excellent service enjoy coming here with my family when I can would recommend this place to everyone I’ve never had a bad experience since I’ve been coming here

Efficient and friendly service. Generous portions. Café type atmosphere. Favorite of locals because of good value. Not fancy but consistent quality.

Just finished a very disappointing dinner here. I tried to overlook the mess as you walk in, like someone’s living room that hasn’t been picked up and vacuumed for awhile.
Then the food-​omg! I ordered liver and onions with mashed potatoes and beef gravy. I don’t know what kind of gravy it was, no color, no taste. The piece of garlic toast almost had some color to it. Basically, it was a piece of barely warmed dry bread. The veggies– the worst! I hate soggy, limp canned green beans. Why bother?
My fiancé ordered the special, ribeye, medium rare. How do they get liver and ribeye steaks soooo thin? The steak had absolutely NO seasoning! Served cold, most of it was medium, except for a hunk that was attached that was rare, or not cooked. I think if we’d met the cook, we’d have slapped him. No pride in anything and the owners let them serve food this way? Never going back. Save your money and eat a bad meal at home.

Friend and I went up for lunch after leaving the bakersfield National Cemetery from our friend funeral sone decided to stop try this village grill it was cute little place. Sat down as soon as we arrive looked the menu over.
I ordered the tuna melt sandwhich with fries. (had the steak fries) Debbie had the Patty Melt with a side salad (salad was a good size curtons we great) meat on the patty melt was thick just the way she liked it.
Definitely would eat here again!!!

Wow! Sat quickly ! Ann the waitress was right there to take our drink orders. Gave us a few to check out the menu. I ordered the Belgium waffle and really wanted strawberries but hate the gel ones. Nope theirs is fresh but the cut them and soak them with s but if sugar. Love it! Probably the lightest Belgium waffle I have had! Son loved his favorite… French toast!

Where to begin? I didn’t really have a great opinion of the place upon driving up to it. There was some shady looking guy in the patio area playing some really loud, crappy music. I figured maybe it was because they were only open for another hour and he was trying to drive away customers? I ordered a steak… Medium Rare! What I got was something steak sized, but almost the thickness of lunch meat and it was well done. Booo! Basically anything over Med. Rare is just ruined.,…I ate the salad, which was obviously a bagged salad mix with some croutons thrown on top and the potato which had a gigantic topping of margarine and sour cream on top that actually eclipsed the potato. I told them that I couldn’t eat the steak because it was overcooked and they asked if I wanted another steak or if I wanted something else. I said no, First because we were in kind of a rush and I didn’t feel like waiting and secondly because they convinced me that I didn’t want to try anything else they had to offer here. They still charged Me 7.00 for their mistake, Awesome. Never coming back to this Sh*thole diner again that is for sure. Another thing that annoyed me here was that they have these little signs on the tables saying they will give you water upon request because of the severe drought. okay, fair enough., However, when they give you water, it is in a giant cup that is almost impossible to drink it all, especially when you are on a road trip… And I went to use the bathroom before leaving to find this person cleaning the bathroom, running the faucet and wasting water just to clean the counter top and just let the water run for no good reason, This disgusted me. If I ever find Myself in this place again, I will avoid this restaurant like the plague.

Great service… warm and friendly small town diner experience. I ordered eggs, hash browns, and biscuits ’ n gravy. I love has browns and these were perfect. Crispy golden crust and soft delicious center. Yum! Eggs were cooked perfect and biscuits were fresh. I only dinged them down a star because the gravy tasted like pre-​made, not made from scratch (which those great biscuits deserve!!).

Went for a drive up to Hart Flat for a visit so we decided to go on in to Tehachapi for lunch. We’ve been here before but it was many years ago so we thought we’d give it another try because as memory severed us it was pretty good.
When we walked in we were promptly greeted and seated by a friendly host in a clean well stocked booth of condiments, gave us menus that also had the daily specials. For lunch time on a Saturday it wasn’t very crowded.
Our server promptly arrived to take our beverage orders and recite the daily special of Salisbury steak and the soups of vegetable beef and creamy chicken noodle. Upon returning with our drinks she took our orders and three of us ordered the special of the Salisbury steak and my husband ordered the pork chops. We all opted for mashed potatoes and it came with veggies. My husband said his pork chops were good. Our Salisbury steak was too came with you typical dark gravy and it no way looked like a Swanson dinner sometimes they can replicate.
Actually the portion size was huge. No one ate all their food and the other couple with us shared their meal. We just have to remember this place because it was some really great diner type food at reasonable price. Clean and friendly service.

This is a great little diner. I got the steak sandwich with seasoned fries and it was amazing. I didn’t know if I should eat it or marry it and have little baby steak sliders with it. I ordered it medium, and they actually cooked it medium. Most diners cook everything well done even if you order it rare. If you’re ever in the little town of tehachapi, you should stop here and get something. They also have Mexican options on the menu that looked really good.

A clean family restaurant. Consistently good food at a reasonable price. More affordable than the place across the street. Nice employees. Their Mexican Skillet breakfast will hold you well past lunch.

Great service, and even better food. They were super busy, not an empty seat in the place. It was great.

This is a coo spot. I’ve been wanting to try it, when we got there it smelt bad and kinda like pinesol in the whole place to the point where we almost left. Wasn’t sure what to think but the service was good and when our food came it was actually really good. I’d come back.

Handsome server (Ivan) was the fastest/​funniest person. Recommend the chile verde omelette which hit the spot with someone with a morning apatite! Good old fashion home food, nothing more, since I’m always a comfort food eater.

Another disappointing restaurant. Came here for dinner tonight with my mother and my son. We got sat and ordered our drinks looked at the menu then ordered. It was busy but most of everyone had food. We ordered our food. I ordered chicken fried steak my mom ordered chicken strips and we ordered a plain cheeseburger for my son. All the meals came with French fries and my mom and I got salads. We got our salads right away. Basic salads from a bag I’m assuming then dressing on the side. We finished our salads and waited patiently for our food our waitress came by after 30 minutes and said there’s a couple tickets ahead of you then yours will be up we said okay. Finally after an hour of waiting I called the waitress over and asked if she could check on our food. She checked on our food came back and told us he was going to start it in 2 minutes at this point we are starving and have an angry toddler we told her to cancel everything and we got up and left. Can’t even tell if the food was worth the wait or not.

The food was fairly good. I didn’t had a complaint on the food, the only down fall was that the staff were a little slow. Despite that fact, food was good.

Just another aging diner… definitely wound’t call it a classic, but it’s not decaying too bad either.
Four stars because the service is reasonably zippy and friendly. If you are into diner food, you’ll do OK here (nothing special). Probably only a three star place, but the other options we’ve experienced in Tehachapi have been so poor that this place shines in comparison. Price was reasonable.

⁷⁄₁₂ on the way to San Diego. Read the reviews, saw the (A) grade in the window, ok let’s try it. Good food, typical small town diner. It was kinda eerie quiet when we first walked in, the majority of patrons were seniors. Service was good with a smile, if in the area we could possibly stop by again, quaint little town.

Coming here is tradition for our family when traveling to Las Vegas from Hanford. The food is always great an the service as well. This country style restaurant has great food every time an we love it.

On a recent motorcycle ride to Las Vegas, our group of seven needed a warm, clean, friendly place to eat — and we got it here. The food was good, too! Everyone’s food came at once, our coffee cups were never empty and the portions were very satisfying. This placed was so good, we even added it in on our return trip. The food is diner fair, but very tasty and enjoyable. The one standout — in both stops, the staff seemed very happy we came in. A lot of smiles, how are you’s and ride safe’s for us. I can’t see us making this trek again, but if we do, Village Grill will be on our stop list. Kudos to the Tahachapi Chamber of Commerce for this suggestion.

Ive been coming here since I was little. I Live in cal city but every time me and my mom go shopping in tehachapi villiage grill is are number one choice. The service is great the food is good its just all around good! I usually just get a ceaser salad. Ill try things from everyones plate though and its all YUM! everything (to me) seems reasonabley priced! So if your looking to have a small salad. (regular sized to me) and have four bucks on you go for it! afterwards when we go to pay they always have a bowl of these delicious mints you can use the little spoon and grab a handful to eat (FREE) they also have some jewelry up from you can buy! ive never bought anything but theres cute hello kitty necklaces ect… Reccomended =))))
