My wife and I stayed at this hotel and had lunch in the Chop House dining room. For me, the big attraction was the storefront-style restaurant space: historic and ornate décor, beautiful light fixtures, great windows and natural light, and a clear view of all the sidewalk action. Gorgeous appearance aside, we enjoyed our food very much. The oatmeal was served in a huge bowl and had all the best fixins. Fantastic oatmeal. The chili is very very good with small chunks of meat and beans, not big chunks. The dessert, Flourless Chocolate Cake with ice cream, was wonderful. Our lunch tab came to $ 50. We loved this restaurant and we highly recommend it.

Food was super mediocre especially for the price. The eggs were overdone and basically inedible in my $ 20 omelette. Took way too long to get coffee/water refills.

If you’re ever in the charming and majestic town of Telluride, it’s an absolute must to hit the New Sheridan Chop House. Year after year, the Chop House continues to deliver excellent food and service in a lively, hip après-ski atmosphere! While best known for its«cooked to perfection» grilled prime steaks, they also serve up some of the best seafood, chicken and daily specials we’ve ever tasted! Got nitrogen? The Chop House does, and it’s the only nitrogen wine bar in Telluride! So, eat, drink and be merry!

Went for brunch to kick off St Patricks Day and had a delicious corned beef hash breakfast. I consider myself a corned beef hash conossiour and these guys know what they are doing. Only complaint was the eggs were over medium instead of over easy. French toast was good but nothing special. Mimosa and Bloody May were delicious! Bartender was awesome. Totally had the St Pats spirit. Even gave us a free shot to start off our St Pattys Day!

The New Sheridan Chop House was as good as it gets! We celebrated my birthday there in the past week and I was impressed. We had a goat cheese salad, the fillet and the sea bass. All selections were very fresh and very tasted. Then the bread pudding for desert was unbelievable. The service was excellent and the wine list was also very good! I would recommend this restaurant to all couples or singles visiting Telluride. Not kid friendly but I wouldn’t want to take my kids here…

Among the best steak houses out there. I agree with another poster: If you only have budget for one upscale meal while you’re here, this is the place. It’s priced like any other ‘best steakhouse ever’, so prepare for that. Amazing char on the steak, great wine list, enough bourbon, and great atmosphere. If you want, you can even stay at this place. Apparently, it’s a hotel as well.

I felt it high priced for the value. Food was good, not great. Had a very good server.

Came here for dinner with a group of 7 last week, and it was just perfect. Terrific setting, the French onion soup and filet I had were absolutely delicious(as were the truffle fries). It was just a really nice way to cap off the perfect day skiing. Highly recommend.

Everything was top notch from the people, to the food, and great atmosphere. Will be going back a this February and will give a much more up to date review. For now it is one of my favorite places I have ever eaten! Only draw back in $$$$. But that is normal for most resort ski town!

Ever have a steak that you just want to keep eating and hope it never ends? THIS is the place! I eat steak at least once per week. I have rarely had a better cut, cook, and experience. I would have given six(6) stars, but they don’t have it. The single drawback here is the wine list — expensive! Be prepared to penny(or dollar) up.

We came here for brunch on a Sunday morning and we were able to be seated right away in the lobby of the hotel. The ambiance is quaint and cute, though sitting in the lobby was a bit of a bust, as every time guests checked out there would be gusts of freezing cold air despite the foyer. The waiter was extremely friendly and helpful which I definitley enjoyed. I think the 3 star rating really comes for the food. I got the eggs Benedict which was okay. It wasn’t amazing though which was kind of a bummer, maybe because Telluride sets you up with all these great expectations. Same thing with my boo’s juevos rancheros. Again the food was okay! But it was just a little bland and not exciting. Also their breakfast menu seemed pretty limited to me, there was maybe 5 – 6 items. All very standard stuff. Ahh well you can’t win them all. Maybe their dinner/steak side is preferable?

The service was excellent. Food was amazing. Our group ordered many things. You can’t go wrong with these particular menu items(even though we ordered many items): Lamb chops Mussels Elk Oysters New York strip Chop Salad This is by far the best restaurant in Telluride.

Excellent food always. But you do pay for it – I think I paid $ 17 for a hamburger. Eggs Benedict wee excellent. Staff always great and there is a little bar as well. Never stayed at the hotel the review is just for the restaurant.

We were in Telluride for the Film Fest and I ate at the Chop House at least 3 times. They were centrally located and incredibly accommodating(only have 40 minutes till your next film and 5 minutes to close? Yes, we’ll seat you). The food was excellent at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff was very well trained and effortless. Visit if you’re in Telluride.

Great dark wood elegance. Had mountain trout over local spinach as a lunch salad. Service can be spotty, but was attentive on my most recent visit. Windows on Colorado Ave make for great people watching, too.

I chose New Sheridan for my birthday dinner, and I was not disappointed. I felt slightly bad for selecting the halibut, as the steaks looked amazing. My husband grills a mean steak, though, and I am not as proficient with fish cookery. The halibut was amazing, tender, flavorful, and swimming in a nice broth. I was very happy with this dish. Since it was my birthday, we got chocolate cake. The cake was delicious! The wine list is amazing. We had a Justin cab, one of our faves. We extended our visit in the bar, and had great service there, too. Great splurge restaurant in the mountains!

This restaurant has a classic feel in the lobby floor of a hotel on the main street of downtown Telluride. The firs thing to impress me about the restaurant was the wine list. While other restaurants of comparable philosophies in the area tout lists of wines aiming to triple check averages, New Sheridan provided a really eclectic selection with a range of prices. I’m not referring to a bottle of Welch’s grape juice for $ 30, but rather some very good bottles at very reasonable prices. I had a mixed greens salad, but not in a traditional sense. It was donned with purple cauliflower and haricot vert with lightly dressed vinaigrette which complemented the greens perfectly. It was tough not to go with a steak at New Sheridan, but the description of the elk wouldn’t have forgiven me if I didn’t take full advantage. It was prepared with a brussel sprout«hash» and topped with a blackberry butterscotch sort of reduction, which was very, very good. For sides, we had mac ‘n cheese, asparagus, and truffle fries… all again, very good. Dessert time. Vanilla crème brûlée, apple tart, and housemade donuts which disappeared faster than I could lift my spoon. Next time, I’ll have to come alone to eliminate the competition. Very good food, the service was too. I’d return.

We found this restaurant in town. Very convenient on the Gondola ride from our hotel and the ski slopes. Definitely a mining town feel. Tasteful rustic. Classy. Food was excellent. I recommend the Elk and Bison ribeye. It’s an excellent place for experimenting with game meat. Mushroom sides and creamed spinach were the perfect side.

Hands down my favorite meal in Telluride! I went here with 3 girlfriends while in town for a holiday ski vacation based on the recommendation of a friend, who is a Telluride local. We went on a busy Saturday night(Sat after Christmas) and were not disappointed. The food was incredible start to finish, not a single complaint of any kind at our table! — Cheese plate — nice selection of cheeses, including a few Cali faves(mt tam!) — Lobster bisque — insanely rich, but amazing. Best I’ve had in a long time — Foie Gras — loved — Elk Loin — preparation was so perfect. Medium rare, phenomenal sauce & veggies — Other folks had the Colorado Bass and a steak, which they loved as well — Apple tart for dessert came with homemade marshmallows… toasted and tender, so good! Even the bread basket had amazing, perfect crusty yet chewy bread. All of this, plus a beautifully light pinot noir made for a perfect first night in town. If you have time or money for only 1 upscale meal in town, this is the place. It was around $ 90/pp including tax and tip and the 4 of us sharing 1 bottle of wine.
