Coil, An Aveda Concept Salon

Super friendly, kind, and do a great job. I am super picky, and always have been. I don’t get bashed for the stupid things I do between cuts, and (Nicole) they always fix whatever junk I’ve done :)

First, you should know that this business no longer exists– but if you book an appointment through StyleSeat thinking it is, you will be charged the full price plus a 20% tip like I did yesterday and have to begin the process of trying to get refunded. To begin, I have used StyleSeat for three years to find stylists without a problem so I thought it would be fine. It told me I would be charged 50% for no-​show if I didn’t cancel within 24hrs. Fine. I got three texts. One confirmed my appointment with an address and phone number for the business. I showed up 40 minutes early and saw a sign in the window of the business that the space was available for lease. Shelves still remained, labeled where product used to be. Tried calling the number in the text thinking they’d moved but a message comes on saying it’s been disconnected. No Facebook or website. Chamber of Commerce for Temecula has them as being a business but no mention if it’s been closed. Tried getting online to cancel my card but wasn’t able to. I go get lunch and two hours later I find I had a text saying I had 30 minutes to alter the tip amount. What? And then another text comes saying that I had paid the FULL amount plus a 20% tip. This comes after a text saying that after my haircut, I will be able to pay via phone– an option I was never given– it just charged me. Didn’t have me as a no-​show, but as having been there and received a haircut! So, now I’m in conversation with my bank, having filed a claim to get my money back. Very angry. I hope that my review saves others from making the same mistake. I’m stunned that this even happened.

Tried to make an appointment with Connie for over a week now. No one answers the phone and no one responds to emails, voicemails or appointment requests made online. What’s up with this place? Is it still open? If not, they should be… a customer shouldn’t have to beg for an appointment. But that’s ok, there’s plenty more great Aveda Salons in Temecula who will gladly accommodate!

I have been going to Nicole for about 7 years now and I am always happy with the results! I have gone through several colors, red, dark brown, blond etc and have loved each and every one! That’s me in the their profile pic! I am loving this color and cut. I live in Orange County and still I drive out to have Nicole do my hair! I love that Aveda products are natural and not full of bad chemicals. The neck and shoulder massages are pretty awesome too.

Thank goodness for Unilocal I would have never known about this hidden gem! Absolutely best salon around, there staff is extremely professional and the environment is relaxing! They were able to accomplish exactly what I asked for and in extremely short notice, I won’t be going any where but here from now on!

I have been here about 3 times. Connie is extremely talented. Always pay attention to how your stylist looks. She is always put together, fab hair! She really listens and takes her time. I trusted her to go short with my hair! Ah! I loved it. I especially love how its growing out. The color is beautiful as well… Finally got some purple which I have always wanted. I always look to go to an Aveda salon because I love their products and their services. Oh. Did I mention the two mini massages you get? One when you walk in and sit at the chair, you get to chose your scent… So relaxing. The next one is when your hair is being washed. Nice arm massage. I recommend Connie to anyone looking for a change and positive results! Thank you!!!

DO NOT LET THE RECEPTIONIST TOUCH YOUR HAIR. I’ll get into that later but just thought I’d point that out first. Not sure if she’s the only receptionist, and I can’t remember her name, but don’t let her touch it.
This was the first time I’d ever gone here. I came here because I decided last minute on a Saturday that I wanted to get my hair done, and the only time I could do it was the next day since I was starting school and working full time, so I wouldn’t have time to get it done after Sunday. They were able to get me in the next day and I was really excited since most salons are closed on Sunday (the girl I normally go to, her salon is closed Sundays). I got there and when I sat down, the woman who did my hair (Connie) quoted me the price of the services I wanted right away, which I liked. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she got to work on my hair and it seemed to be going okay, until she had to work on another customer. The other customer only got a trim and blow dry so it was no biggie, she was only with the customer for about 20 minutes, so in the meantime she asked the receptionist/​assistant to condition my hair. Pretty simple task, right? WRONG. She «conditioned» my hair, and when Connie came back to work on me, my hair was in the biggest knot it’s ever been in, the knot was literally the size of a potato! Connie was in somewhat of a panic since she knew I was on a time constraint and was at a loss for words about how bad the assistant, who claims to have her cosmetology license, knotted my hair up. The knot was so bad, I honestly thought I was going to have to chop off all of my hair, but Connie refused to do that. So after about 40 minutes of Connie diligently working through the knot, she was able to get it out. She profusely apologized and gave me a free haircut and took an additional $ 30 off the total, but not once did the assistant apologize to me, she pretty much just stayed hidden in the back. Connie finished with my hair, I paid, and left to go pick up my son. When I got home and really looked at my hair, I saw that my hair looked nothing like the picture I showed Connie. All I wanted was an ombré, but she ended up making it streaky toward the top of my head and making it look like I had grown out highlights in my hair after I only agreed for her to lighten around the frame of my face. This was honestly one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a salon. I rated it 2 stars since Connie spent the time carefully untangling my hair without breaking it or having to cut it off, but other than that it was horrible. I will not be back.

I am growing out my hair from a mohawk; it had gotten to an awkward stage and had gone way too long since I’d last had it cut. My stylist was friendly and did a good job cutting my hair into a style that would allow me to grow it out while keeping it decent-​looking. However, there was nothing special about this place. Anywhere with moderately good hairstylists could do the same thing.
I did not get as special a treatment as advertised (on their website they promise, «Haircut pricing includes a spa shampoo, blow-​dry style, complimentary stress-​relieving head, neck and shoulder massage; hand massage featuring Aveda Hand Relief.») and I’m disappointed! I specifically went to this salon so that I could relax while being cared for. My stylist was Alexa (Artistic Director) and I did not get a neck, shoulder or hand massage unless you count fifteen seconds of pressure on my shoulders and neck. I certainly don’t.
I paid $ 60 with tip ($ 50 without) and it wasn’t worth it. I will be getting my hair cut elsewhere.

Love it. Always been a fan of Aveda products. Their tea tastes like home! The chakra smells and had and shoulder massages never disappoint. Aveda provides only the best service, stylists, products, and enviornment experience

Great place! Connie made my hair feel healthy again. The atmosphere was relaxing and clean. I definitely found my new salon.

I followed Melise over here from another salon. She always does such an amazing job on my hair and she always makes me feel so relaxed.

Went and redeemed my groupon for a wash cut botanical treatment and blowout. No issues redeeming (which is always nice!). Salon is very modern? I almost think it needs to look less bare. I only had 90 minutes before I needed to go to work so they skipped the massages but we ended up finishing in 45 minutes so I kinda wish they didn’t. But better safe than sorry so I understand. My only con is my stylist Connie needs to use more styling products. She only used volume spray and I asked for smoothing serum because my hair was super staticky. Overall, the service was worth the amount I paid on groupon ($ 29).

Alexa did my hair when I was out there for a wedding, she is absolutely amazing ! She turned out to be one of the coolest girls I’ve ever met, and I got tons of compliments on my hair! She does BEAUTIFUL color, edgy cuts and the formal do she did was exactly what I wanted!

I got my hair done with Nicole, ahe did an amazing job after having hair done so many times and never 100%satisfied, today i can say im extremley happy and excited about my hair. Nicole took the time and patience to listen to me. Thank you so much to Nicloe ur awesome. I highly recommend Coil Salon. :-):-)

I had to come to the salon because there was a cancellation at my other salon last minute. The staff were incredibly friendly and were able to fit me in last minute. The service was superb and I loved my hairstyle. I highly recommend this place. It was an amazing experience!

Alexa has been doing my hair for years now and I won’t trust anyone else with my blonde! I’m following her here and will continue to follow her where ever else. They also use great natural products that won’t damage your hair.

GO TO SAL!!! I was super late to my spot and not only is the staff so incredibly sweet but they are an amazing new salon and I HIGHLY RECCOMEND everyone comes in. They do makeup, aroma therapy and wonders with hair! Thank you sooooo much Sal you are a godsend!!! :) :) :)

A winery isn’t the only place in Temecula where you can relax and walk away feeling great… get pampered at Coil like I did!
When I woke up this morning for my appointment, I was nervous about how my super-​sensitive skin would react to Aveda products; and a little embarrassed that my hair was so frizzy and split-ended…you could tell I didn’t take care of it. The great news is Nicole put me right at ease from the moment I walked in.
She made me feel comfortable and didn’t judge me for not taking better care of my hair. I can’t stress how much that meant to me as a Mom of three who usually hides under a hat. Getting my hair done at Coil was the start of me taking better care of myself now that my kids are out of diapers and sippy cups; and Nicole helped motivate me by making me feel beautiful.
She tamed my rough waves and after the haircut, you would never know I had split ends. Also, my sensitive skin didn’t react badly to the Aveda makeup she used-​this was a shocker since I usually have bad luck with makeup. What a great discovery! Two worries solved just like that. The Aveda products (and Nicole) are amazing!
Nicole spent just enough time trying to understand what I wanted out of our appointment and what my hair care needs were. The highlights are beautiful… I can’t believe I was thinking of not getting them. Good thing I did! She also recommended a hair care régime that works with my busy lifestyle and within my budget.
You will get what you pay for at Coil, and then some. It was by far the best Aveda salon I’ve been to in terms of talent, knowledge, service, and attention to detail. The highlights and cut-​superior!
