ACTUALLY — -ZERO STARSFORLUBY’S TEMPLE, TEXASONGENERALBRUCEDRIVE!!! I’m not even sure where to begin. The servers in this restaurant need a BOOTCAMP!!! We went yesterday(Sunday after church). So, yes, I have already taken into consideration it was a busy time. But MYGOODNESS!!! EVERYSINGLESERVER(EXPCEPTONE!!!) WASDISGRUNTLEDANDMEAN!!! I stood in the food line with my daughters(ages 15 and 11-who are VERYPOLITEANDGRACIOUS) – starting at the salad(first server) he mumbled as he spoke and seemed super annoyed that we wanted more than 3 items on our salad(keep in mind they only have a small selection of salad add-ons). The server next him(VERYBITTERWOMAN) mumbled a complaint to him and he gave her a dirty look and rolled his eyes(all of us saw this!!!). If these two can’t play nice, they should not be next to each other. That BITTERWOMAN was the entrée lady and OHMYGOODNESS, if you took longer than 30 seconds to decide between the fried chicken, catfish or meatloaf she looked like she was about to BLOWHERTOP!!! Like it was an INCONVENIENCE that we did not know the meat choices as we waited on our salads. The side dish lady was alright. Once we got to the front, there were NOCUPS for beverages. I inquired on cups and GOTDIRTYLOOKS and then a rude«we’re gonna get them ma’am. Hold on». The cashier was obviously angry WITHUS because THEYRANOUTOFCUPS!!! My daughters and I were INSUCHSHOCKBYEACHOFTHEIRATTITUDESTHATWECOULDN’T HELPBUTLAUGH! We took our food to our table. Keep in mind there are about 10 in our party. So we go back to retrieve silverware and there is again, NOSILVERWARE(again, OBVIOUSLYOURFAULTWHENWEINQUIRE). The cashier(again, the Prison Kitchen Supervisor) asked«How many?» As in silverware(we have 10 in our party). I say 7, she gave me a «are freaking serious glare» and asks«SEVEN???» As if I’m asking for something obscene and unheard of! «Yes ma’am 7. We have a large party». She says«Ugh. Well, you’re gonna have to hold on. We’re very busy». OHHHHHMYGOD!!! REALLY??? I can’t even remember if I even liked the food, all I thought about during lunch was this BITTERANDUNHAPPYANDDISGRUNTLEDSTAFF. Please manager make them smile. Make them gracious. Make them take the phrase«HOLDON» out of their vocabulary. Make them understand it is not the fault of the PAYINGCUSTOMER if they run out of silverware of cups. Make them realize that it takes longer than 30 seconds to decide on an entrée that we cannot read on a menu but we have to see as we approach the buffet. ORMAYBEYOUSHOULDJUSTWIPETHISSTAFFCLEAN and start with people who TRULYWANTTOWORKANDVALUETHEIRJOBS.

Having just moved to TX, we’ve been hearing Luby’s, Luby’s, Luby’s! So we went. Big mistake. Overpriced and underwhelmed. Folks serving food down the line had zero personality and the waitress was no better. Food all tasted the same. I actually think we were overcharged by about 5 bucks, but we couldn’t make heads or tails of the receipt as nothing we ordered was on it. They said they just do generic pricing as everything is the same? How do they do inventory??? WHAT? Overall, not worth the effort to even pull in the parking lot. But the #1 Reason we will NEVER return??? Fox News blaring on every TV!!! We moved to the Austin area for it’s progressiveness. Obviously, Temple hasn’t got the message.

$ 35.00 for 2 people? Really? Deceptive signage, rude servers, snotty cashiers. $ 3.00 for a «side salad«that signage stated was«69 cents to upgrade your platter.» What it does NOT say is that you only get 1 side if you get the«upgrade.» Plus the servers on the line don’t tell you this either. And I can get a side salad at Pappadeaux for less than $ 3. Add to that a server who asks what you want then does the opposite and a snotty cashier who treats you like you are stupid and all in all, your appetite is ruined before you even taste the food ! Sad when the best thing about your dining experience is the lady who patrols the dining room to refill drinks. I have loved Luby’s since I was a kid, but I won’t be back to this one and will discourage others from dining here as well.

My son and I come here regularly. I didn’t realize until the 4th time that they have a children’s plate, but you have to ask for it or they will just put everything on an adults plate and charge you for an adult meal. My son loves the Mac and cheese and the chicken strips. He also likes the broccoli. I like the Mac and cheese, it is very creamy. The spiral ham is good and the chicken fried steak is great. Big portion and the breading is very crunchy. I did not care for the boneless turkey breast. It just tasted strange. Also, kids eat free after 4pm on Tuesdays and after 11am on Saturdays!

Recently had a bad experience due to the cashier, Michelle, having an attitude with my mother. Not sure if she was having a bad day, but she definitely did not need to take it out on customers — especially my mom. It all started when I noticed a bunch of flies crawling and flying around the pies and cakes in the dessert section, so I notified the nearest employee, which happened to be the disgruntled cashier. She appeared to grudgingly remove the affected desserts topped off with an eye roll. Then, when my mother was paying for our meal, the cashier miscalculated the money given and shortchanged her. There was a short dispute exchanged and when the cashier realized her mistake, she handed the change back and dropped a few coins while picking it up with grumbling and loud teeth-sucking as if annoyed. Immediately, we notified the manager on duty. If you’re reading this, thank you so much Edward R. for your understanding and willingness to rectify the situation. The gift card was not necessary, but is greatly appreciated. Not sure if we will be returning to Luby’s after this incident, especially if the cashier is still employed here — which is a shame, because we really liked the food.

We came in and it didn’t seem very inviting. There was only one lady on the line serving. She had to call for some help and workers came from the back to help her out.

Good fresh food, I kind of like the cafeteria feel(getting your food first in an assembly line). Then paying for it all. It’s almost like eating @ a fast food place, getting your food NOW!

Answer: Luby’s Question: What’s the only thing the Pappa’s chain ever screwed up? Yes, I know its a cafeteria, but depending on the date and time, you should not be served different quality food. I’d rather wait a few minutes for fresh food than for you to hand me a ½ of a piece of fried fish that had been sitting there for an hour or two or twelve. My parents and I ate here today after attending a family birthday party. Dad had fried chicken(mixed veggies and black-eyed peas), mom had fried fish(spinach and macaroni and cheese) and I had the chopped steak. Mom’s fish was fresh because she ordered a whole portion just so they wouldn’t give her the half that had been sitting there. Dad’s fried chicken was good, he said. My chop steak was luke warm, at best. My broccoli was petrified and the mixed veggies were cooked to a pulp. My mom’s macaroni and cheese was cheese colored macaroni that had no moisture left to it at all. And would it be so darn hard to have a single piece of bread hot enough to melt the butter? Part of the reason why they have no clue when and how many vegetables to prepare is that their cashiers are so clueless-ly lazy… that our receipt said that all three of us had«mashed potatoes and corn», and this is their consistent practice not to identify the vegetables*. Their excuse was, all the veggies are the same price. Well, if that is your reasoning, all the luann platters are the same price so why bother entering which meat item we chose? Poor management, poor training, and lazy staff… equals a steam table worth of 2 hour old dried out food when a small rush walks in at 430pm. *My parents ate at this same location three weeks ago and their receipt didn’t match anything they ordered except for the meat. They called the manager over to ask what was going on and he was LESS than interested.
