I had the Spicy Beef for lunch. It was pretty good. I liked the atmosphere and the service was nice.

Had dinner here with a friend. Ordered spring rolls and lemongrass soup and my friend ordered phở. This place is kind of a fusion restaurant rather than vietnamese. The spring roll was«Americanized» version– it was lacking the fragrant herbal tastes that I prefer. There was a teeny bit of mint in there. Soup was good and creamy. My friend didn’t like the phở she thought it was too sweet. Overall a good experience. We went there pretty early so I can’t comment much on service.

We love coming here for a good bowl of spicy jerk beef phở! It’s pretty good although sometimes may be on the sweet side. Think it’s the overwhelming taste of anise in the broth, but ass some Siracha and it will balance out the taste. We love yeh Vietnamese spring rolls and bahn mi sandwich. Overall great little place.

You want decent vietmese food in Tenafly area come here. Don’t expect authentic vietnamese food though. Service is ok, could be better.

One of the best Vietnamese places I’ve been too! Food here is great, always consistent with the flavor of most plates on the menu. The service as well is great, I’ve never encountered a problem dining in and out. My favorite thing to order here during lunch hours is the«Vegetable House Noodles». Several of my coworkers love the same dish as well. While seated and waiting for your food you are served some Shrimp Crackers with a nice sauce to add for a hint of spice, serves like a nice appetizer. The vibe of the location is very relaxing, probably due to the décor and setup they have as the interior of the place. They have limited seating available outside during nice weather, can’t wait to give that a try soon.

Pretty good place for Vietnamese food, defiantly not the best . No liqueurs so you have to bring your own . Service not so good, that the downside of this place really.

Good, fresh food, but very overpriced and small portions. Also, this location(and the previous one in Englewood) is small and usually very crowded… not a terribly inviting space. Service is slow and lackluster as well. As a result we only get take out from Simply Vietnamese and are thrilled to go to other cities to patronize better Vietnamese options. I think Simply Vietnamese is ruling the roost around here due to lack of competition.

Lunch menu is definitely cheaper so worth the money more! Love the noodle salad here and portion is so big! Also the rice chips that they give you before the food comes out is definitely a plus

Simply Vietnamese is my favorite spot for Vietnamese food. It’s like 20 minutes from my house but I can’t resist. In fact I once drove home early from a night in NY just to come here. Things to definitely try are the Phở(my favorite), Lemongrass Soup, and the Spicy Beef. The Phở is incredible; it has a complex flavor that is perfectly balanced.

The Phở was good. The satay was also fine. The portions are really huge.

Visited this place with my family for dinner. The first thing I noticed was that the restaurant did not have its own customer parking area — there is only street parking(the lot to the side of the restaurant belongs to a farmer’s market/grocery store). When we entered, I was pleasantly surprised at the ambiance and how quickly we were seated — staff was courteous and professional. Akin to getting bread at some casual American restaurants, we received shrimp crackers and sweet chili dipping sauce shortly after our menus were placed in front of us — that was a nice touch. Now onto the ordered food: we got our meals within 10 mins of ordering — not bad eh? My brother and I got the phở, which we agreed was delicious. The broth was much sweeter than phos I’ve tried at other Viet places. On the other hand, my parents thought their food was so-so. Mom had the Pad Thai(yes, a Thai dish at a Viet place) which she said was missing the typical tofu. Dad got some lemongrass chicken dish, which he said was missing the lemongrass element — it was a peanut paradise and apparently more like a curry. All in all, food was alright. The staff was attentive and always filled our glasses with water. We also questioned the authenticity of the food and place in general — we noticed that we were the only Asians during our entire 1+ hour dinner, which to us, was a sign that maybe local Asians neither consider this restaurant as a place to frequent nor a place to recommend to their other friends and families. As one Unilocaler also mentioned, the condiments did not seem homemade — they were in bottles you could find at a grocery store(I’m looking at you, Lee Kum Kee Hoisin sauce).

This is my new go-to! Went lastnight and it was very busy for Sunday, they say is right away though! Service was excellent and I love the ambiance, very warm and cozy feeling. For appetizer we had the pork buns, spring rolls and dumplings amazing! I ordered the spicy lemongrass soup with chicken. It had so much flavor and filled with Asian greens, noodles and chicken. I will definitely be back! Best part is its BYOB !!

I love love love the pad thai here! I always ask for extra spicy but its never really spicy. But I could deal bu asking for extra chili sauce. I love the chips they give you before your meal to snack on. We often come in hungry for lunch, and it helps the excessive hunger and wait for food. They have a lunch special which is the several dinner items at a slightly lower price. The noodle soup however. I ordered twice and will never order again. The soup is really really sweet compared to any other phở/viet noodle soup places. Even my friends think it is too sweet for thei tastes. So if you dont like sweet soup, I would just stick to the other dishes on the menu.

Solid place for Vietnamese food. One thing that was surprising, though, was the dinner price for phở. I’m accustomed to ~$ 10 bowls of phở, but this place was ~$ 15. However, the first time I visited this place years ago, I ordered extra noodles(maybe the discontent was written on my face), and the owner gave me them for free! Since then, I’ve been back a handful of times and have always enjoyed my experiences there. I’ve had their banh mi sandwiches, as well as some of the appetizers and phở. Haven’t really had anything that I didn’t enjoy there.

I would give them 5 stars, if not for the casual atmosphere. The food is great. We had the ribs, summer a Squash ravioli and spicy peanut noodles. All great. For dinner we had the Bassa in a soy ginger(my wife likes the healthier version), then the duck and curry shrimp. We eat a lot and we took home some bassa and curry shrimp. All for inly 80 dollars

I went for lunch with a craving for Vietnamese spring rolls. We ordered the miniature spring rolls which comes with lettuce for wrapping and Vietnamese sauce for dipping. The rolls were very good, served hot and crispy. I definitely recommend ordering those for appetizers. For lunch, I ordered the Saigon chicken dish. It was simply chicken served with rice and vegetables such as green beans, onions, peppers, etc. It was good but it wasn’t anything special. It kinda reminded me of something I would get from an americanized asian cuisine. It was pretty sweet. Otherwise, it was not bad. Overall, the service was good and spring rolls are a must try!

Good olé Vietnamese food that is ALMOST as good as my momma’s homemade Viet food! I recommend the«Banh Mi Sliders» for apps, «Phở Ga» for entrée, and Café Sua Da(Vietnamese iced coffee) for dessert. There’s a few outdoor tables for when the weather is nice. As a Vietnamese person, I am pleased with the authenticity of the food and have came back here several times with friends to show them what my people’s food taste like ;-)

Very good and«simple Vietnamese» food. The steak salad is delicious. The spicy beef, not so much. Chicken and vegetable spring rolls are great and light. Pretty large restaurant but not very noisy. Good service! The soups are delicious. I’ll be back for more! But keeping it at lunch since it doesn’t feel like a dinner restaurant.

So my family and I stopped by here after seeing the reviews, and I have to say compared to the reviews it was okay. Maybe my expectations were too high, but it was okay, their broth was good but compared to Bistro Du Saigon, which also another authentic Viet-Phở place, it was just average. I also ordered the garlic noodle dish and it was a bit too saucy and salty for my taste, my kids on the other hand completely enjoyed it. The fried spring rolls were definitely different and tasty, and I would definitely recommend that as one of the appetizers at this place. This place is definitely good for kids, not only cuz they have kid friendly cups, but because they have chips and sauce to keep the kids distracted before the food is ordered and served. Overall, I would go if I was in the area, but it would not be something that I would be craving normally.

After having a horrible experience at the last Vietnamese place I went to, I was super excited to try Simply Vietnamese because I’ve had my eye on it for a while. My only disappointment was not being able to dine in as I was pressed for time. I ordered the coconut milk soup with tofu and vegetables to go. Even though I only got takeout, the service was great. I was asked if I wanted any water or tea while I waited. I listened as a server picked up the phone and said, «no, this is a Vietnamese restaurant». He joked with me about how the person on the other end of the line was inquiring about custom aligator shoes. Small gestures such as that make me feel so welcomed. The interior of the restaurant is really nice. It has a warm and romantic feeling, the ambiance reminded me of a coffeehouse because it felt so comfortable and homey. To top everything off, the food was freakin awesome. The soup was flavorful and the veggies were super fresh. The noodles and beansprouts were packed separately, you can add them as you eat so they don’t get soggy. My tummy was very happy with me that day. I’m so glad I finally got to try Simply Vietnamese, it greatly surpassed my expectations. I can’t wait to go back for a sit-down meal :)
