Waffle House

I have been here many times. The food is diner fair, but the hospitality is wonderful. Great time if you are a redneck and or have tendencies. You really can’t mess up eggs and bacon.

I should have checked out the Unilocal ratings before I picked a breakfast spot. I stopped at Denny’s on State Line and had an absolutely awful experience (enough so that I posted my very first Unilocal rating). Then I picked this Waffle House due to its 3 star rating vs Denny’s 1 star. WH was WAY better. It’s a very basic breakfast restaurant but the service was very prompt and unlike Denny’s they actually had cream for my coffee and they also had milk and the service was at least 5 times faster.

Not a bad stop before heading into Arkansas. The staff are friendly, the facilities are clean, and the food is very consistent with other WH’s that I’ve stopped at in the past. If I had one complaint, it was that the jukebox that is almost directly behind the bar seat closest to the cash register is very, very loud in terms of the bass. I actually moved to another end of the bar just so that I didn’t have the full effect of it ringing in my ear lobes as I sipped on coffee.
The exit access to I-​30 is just around the corner, so you don’t really have to go out of your way to leave the area. There is a Cracker Barrel down the street that has better food, yet if you are trying to save a few dollars with something hot and not junk food, I would stop at this location while traveling.

Friendly people, and your typical greasy spoon. It is very cold inside, the AC is kept on high. So bring your coat and tums and enjoy this Waffle House.

This is the only Wafflehouse I’ve ever been to, so I don’t know what the standard of care is, but I’d have to say this was pretty awful service (cokes came after I finished my food, wrong charge on the check) combined with a horrible cheeseburger. A tasty waffle was just about the only redeeming factor.
I will inevitably stop at another one next time I’m anywhere south of PA.

Food was great. Service was great also.
