I do not like this place. When you go to the desk IF you get someone to come up to the front from the back, you cant just check in, you have to listen to «do you want to buy this, do you want to buy that?» «What kind of lotion are you using?’ on and on. Sometimes you have to wait for a long time because of only one person at the desk. Sometimes you have to wait for the machines. BUT anyway, I have a medical problem that now prevents me from tanning and I asked to get out of my contract if I bring a Drs note. They said absolutely not, that the only way to get out of the contract is if I were PREGNANT. which at age 56 is not probable or possible, but they will not at all let me out of the contract, unless I pay money. This place is horrible. Also they do not clean the machines very well because I ended up smelling like lotion from the person before me YUK.

Hmmmm, went in there today(might as well try and get my money’s worth, I’m not about to just give my money away to this company) and they have two big signs on the counter, offering discounts to customers for posting Unilocal reviews — pretty sure this strictly against Unilocal’s policy? More proof this company is sooo shady. Article on Unilocal’s stand on paying for reviews: Bulbs are still out, one bed just wasn’t working… I feel bad for the ppl working there but it’s not helping to go and be shady on Unilocal either. Fix your equipment, payment policies, business tactics, etc and you’ll naturally receive better reviews, no brainer… BTW — do I get a discount for this review?

Horrible customer service. When I needed to cancel my membership, the little child behind the front desk decided to give me his opinion about tanning in the summer and not in the winter. I didn’t pay $ 60 a month for your opinion. I hope the owners can help their employees focus on customer service in the future!

I hate this company more then anything. they rip you off so bad! i feel sorry for the employees because its a terrible company to work for. not worth the money, they over charge you like crazy, pushy to make sales. i wish i had read all the reviews on Unilocal before getting sucked into a contract and wasting all my money for a year. do not tan with this company!

Worst place ever! You will wait an hour just for them to check you in because only one person is working! Then they will charge your credit card and all the sudden you don’t have a membership the next time you go in! And no one there can help you with that you have to call customer service and wait for them to get back to you! Don’t go!!! Scam!!! Just talked to their customer service and she can’t figure out why the girl didn’t see my membership! I can tell you why… JUSTWANTEDMYMONEY

Front desk staff and manager is terrible to deal with. If you want to deal with teenagers and people who don’t care about customer service, visit this place. They care nothing about you, aside from a commission for signing you up on a monthly plan. If I ran my business this way, I wouldn’t have any customers. If you sign up for a month and decide to cancel, you will need to contact your credit card company to stop the monthly charges. The company will also refuse to refund any past charges made between the time to requested the cancellation to the point of contacting your Credit Card company to STOP payment on the canceled service.

STAYAWAYFROMTHISPLACE!!! Locked me into a contract, then when my bank card changed, penalized me, and told me I could not tan. When I tried to pay with new account number, they threw me out of the store and told me I had to call a automated answering service(customer service) to be able to tan again(although I was obligated to pay from being locked into a contract). It took me over a week to get to a actual person in customer service to give my new account information, which they took and charged me penalty fees for my bank changing my card(the only business I know that does this). When I went into the store again, they told me that my bank card account was not entered, and again they could not process the information there, but had to call customer service again before they would allow me in the store(I m not kidding!). The store manager assured me he would give me a number where a actual person would answer. And again, all’s I got was someone’s answering machine. Furthermore, each time I went in to the store to tan, I was solicited by the desk clerk to buy extra stuff, which I told them numerous times I was not interested in. One of the clerks told me they would actually get fired if they did not meet a quota of making sales. PLEASETELLEVERYONEYOUKNOWABOUTTHISBUSINESS! Other members have similar experiences, so please get the word out. At the Beach is a horrible company that only cares about money and exploiting it’s members!

Scam alert. It is impossible to cancel a contract with these scammers. They continually charge my account after 3 months. to make matters worse i paid a contract cancellation fee and the monthly fees continue. DONOTGONEARTHISPLACE. They are liars. You have been warned.
