I know they are closed, but I wonder what happened to Mickey. He was a great host and always made us feel at home.

This place is sort of run down, but the sushi is pretty good. You can’t usually go wrong with the typical sushi rolls, but its a good place to go when I have a sushi craving in Thousand Oaks. The prices are pretty good too. Overall, its not an amazing, fancy sushi place, but its good for what you’re paying and expecting .

My boyfriend and I came here for happy hour today! The prices were pretty good! We were the only ones there besides one couple sitting at the bar. The service was pretty good, the only complaint I have is that I had to ask to get my water refilled a couple of times. The atmosphere was definitely that of a dive and of a bar versus a sushi restaurant but I didn’t mind that. Although their fish tasted good, they seemed to lack creativity when it came to their rolls. Regardless, I would come back! But if I’m looking for too notch sushi, I’ll pay a little more and go to Sumo! Still, not a bad place!

Came here for a business meeting and had a truckload of sushi! I love the service and the food was great. The fish was very fresh and they have real wasabi on some items. Sit at the counter for great service and be brave. The sizes of some of the rolls and plates are very generous and I couldn’t finish everything we ordered(which is a good thing for me!). Can’t wait to go back.

This place has really gone downhill in regards to service and food. My server, Michelle, was kind of in a daze the entire time. I got the yellowtail roll and it was bland. We ordered some Mochi for dessert and it was stale. The rice paste on the outside was crunchy… gross. I didn’t realize it until later, but Michelle charged me for the completely incorrect order. I’ve tried calling a few times since then, all during business hours, and they do not answer. Bad service and subpar food? Not worth it.

As the name implies, Bad sushi! Rolls were loosely rolled and fell apart at the slightest hint of a touch. The tables were sticky and the general environment and aesthetic was dirty. The servers were young boys who seemed high, not attentive and were gone for long periods of time while we sat waiting for refills and the check for long periods of time despite the place being almost empty. The vibe is more like a young just turned 21 sushi bar for drinking, not good if you actually care about the quality and taste of your sushi.

I think the Unilocal community has this right, a cumulative rating of 3.5 stars. This is a locals favorite, but is in a great need of a makeover. Compared to other sushi places in the area, this is #6 of 6 places. Would I go back? Yes. Would I run back? No. Japanese sushi chefs and Caucasian servers give it an Americana flavor. Nice and competent, but no Je né sais quoi. Menu with little pics and unique name(the ‘good’), brings you to refer to the checklist with 5 point font(«the very bad»). American rock music(the ‘all right’). Large place that looks teeny from the street, with torn seat fabrics and a dilapidated look. My party of 4 ordered 5 rolls and an sundry of sides and misc, and 5 was plenty. Two standouts: Bada Bing Roll(5.0 stars) and the Lobster Roll(4.5). All others I could take or leave and were fillers. All in all, a good time(because of the company I keep). Word.

Good portions. Good service and was there during busy time on Friday. Food was good. A variety of sushi rolls. I’d go back. Tried White Snow roll-favorite, would get again, delicious Bacon roll-sounded better than tasted. Bacon was cold and too much mayo. Wilbur Roll-ok not to much flavor

Came tonight to grab a dinner. Waited for 15 minutes, nobody came to even ask about a drink, no menu, nothing. Then the guy with a trash can came to ask me what do you want!!! Shitty place!

After being on the fence about trying this place based on the so-so reviews, we decided to find out for ourselves. Atmosphere: From the outside it looks like a dive, but it’s not my first rodeo and I realize that the best diamonds can be encrusted in dirt. Walking in, there was loud music and a poppy energy, definitely refreshing at 930 pm on a Saturday for early thirties couple without kids. Maybe not suited for everyone looking for a quiet dinner. Décor was below average, but it had an inviting neighborhood feel. Service: We were greeted reasonably quick, with complimentary cucumbers and edamame after our drink order. Our food came fairly quickly, but it was far past prime dining time which may have helped. The servers were a blast, with silly energy and lots of joking around, which I found entertaining and refreshing. Food: We’ve tried nearly all the local sushi places, and I have to say this ranks in the top. I had the crispy rice and Snow White roll, which both were mind-blowingly tasty, I really had nothing to criticize, and I can be a super picky food diva. My husband had sashimi which he praised as fresh and considerably high quality. Price: When our bill came we had sticker shock, but not in the expensive regard, it was the cheapest, tastiest dinner we’ve had in a long time, we were in disbelief?! They are really making some of the other places look bad! Overall: I cannot wait to go back! With the fair prices, delectable food, and fun servers and music, and ZEROLA pretension, this might be our new hang out/sushi trough… Score!

The service was TERRIBLE! The servers were more interested ins attaching soccer games than actually serving their customers! It took an hour to get our bento boxes for lunch and when we got them, the fried rice was weird! It was only white rice with a ton of scrambled eggs! Gross. Seriously guys, get your act together.

What’s the point of being open until 10pm if you refuse to serve sushi at 9:15pm on a Thursday FOR A PHONEORDER? We weren’t to even coming to sit down in the restaurant… I’m done with this place. This was the last straw, among past instances.

Food is good! Love the katsu and their sashimi… price is reasonable but its deafening, wayyyy too many loud and obnoxious white folks who had a few drinks in them and yelling and talking at the top of their voices… Minus the loud folks, i would definitely be back if i am in the neighborhood…

True that the outside is unkempt; etc., but OMG, the sushi rolls we had were among the best we’ve ever had. Looking forward to trying the Happy Hour! I’m wondering if they have an A though; didn’t see their rating. ANYWAY, ABSOLUTELYDELICIOUS!

Let me just say if I could give this place negative ten stars I would. Who in their right mind goes to this place??? oh yea, under age kids that they service booze to, college kids that are loud and have no money to drop on dinner! We walked in last night and it was packed — we put our name on the wait list and watched for 45 minutes as the server and hostesses friends walked in and got set before anyone on the waiting list!!! Finally 45 minutes later we got our table — only to wait another 15 minutes ATTHESUSHIBAR to have someone get us anything to drink, why you ask… because the actual sushi chef was chugging beers and taking sake shots with his Asian friends who were also sitting at the sushi bar and the other servers were dancing to the LOUD and I mean CLUBASSBANGINGLOUD music in the background. They servers would only give their friends service and barely come by to other patrons that needed anything. We ordered three rolls because their sashimi selection was laughable. If you are a foodie and think this place has great food you REALLY are NOT foodies. You like rolls that are saturated in so much sauce it makes you want to puke or you like the bargain! I honestly didn’t want to even eat the sushi that was made by a nerdy drunk chef behind the counter but I was so hungry after waiting an hour and fifteen minutes for my food, I ate it only to want to spit it under the table. There was so much under age booze serving going on here it is no wonder why it is so packed and the IT place to go for high school and college kids. There was NO adult staff in there only teenage kids running the place. We seriously thought about calling the cops when we left the place but decided we have given that awful restaurant already to much of our attention and time. We love giving restaurants the benefit of the doubt and never take Unilocal reviews too seriously because a patron may just be having a bad day but this was seriously the WORST dining experience I have EVER had! We won’t be back!

I purchased the Conjeo Deal on this place and though I wanted to give a try for awhile now it took the Conjeo Deal to finally bring me to it. :) It’s a decent size place tucked away off Moorpark Blvd. I came on a Sunday so I didn’t get to take advantage of their happy hour which is Mon-Sat and looks to be good too and on Tuesday’s happy hour is until closing. Bonus! I enjoyed the items I ordered– I forgot the names of them but I got Ahi tuna, Albacore, Salmon and Avocado wrapped in Cucumber– very light flavors which I love and it didn’t have any rice. l also ordered Tuna, Albacore and rice wrapped around spicy scallops and topped with sauteed garlic– so yummy. It came with a dipping sauce that was really good. I love that they offer Ramen/Phở in here with meat, I sometimes crave that and there isn’t too many options in this area for it that is kid friendly like this place. Service is really quick and attentive. I was able to order my little ones chicken Terryaki plates and they cleaned the plate. :) They will be offering Bento Boxes in here soon– which is always a good lunch option. :)
