Great service! Wonderful atmosphere and delicious food! I throughly enjoyed every part of my meal from the dim sum to the lemon and sesame chicken! Outstanding all the way around! Thank you for a wonderful meal! Jake and Skye

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant ever! I’ve been going here since I was little and nothing in LA can compare. I wish I lived closer to continue to enjoy it!

Terrific meal and service. I’m a New Yorker who is very picky about my Chinese food. Everything from sizzling rice soup to pan fried noodles was outstanding. Particularly, the orange beef and the Hunan Seafood Chases platter were impeccable. They even had duck sauce and fried noodles on the table New York style! The service was fine and helpful. I will be going back for the Pu Pu tray, which is a New York staple as well.

We ordered food(to be delivered) at 5:00 pm. At 6:00 we called and were told«it’s still cooking». At 6:45 it «was on the way». It never showed up. We waited over 2 hours. And the woman who answered the phone was rude.

There is a real reason this restaurant is so poorly rated — very average dishes + very poor service = very dissatisfied patrons. My guess is the favorable ratings reflect diners with limited experience with fine Chinese cuisine. And saying some Chinese food is the best in Thousand Oaks says nothing, Conejo Valley is hurting for good Chinese, bite the bullet, go to Camarillo or Woodland Hills.

Average food, horrible service. From the moment we walked in, there was a general lack of attention from the servers and slow service of food to our table. The restaurant was less than half-filled when we arrived. The girl who seated us was apparently not a regular server there, and instead was the daughter of an employee. She was very confused when we asked for the dim sum menu but eventually brought us the menu and took our order. After we ordered three dishes, one item was delivered about ten minutes later and then we sat and watched as tables seated long after us started getting their food(many of the items looked like ones we ordered). Every time we asked how much longer it would be we were told the kitchen was busy — but that didn’t explain why other tables got their food. At one point when we inquired about our food, the woman looked over at another table that sat after us and had food that looked suspiciously like our order with a concerned look. This confirmed our initial thought that our dishes were mistakenly served to another table. About ten-fifteen minutes later we got out second item. Then, after waiting another fifteen minutes the last item, green onion pancake, finally came. The pancake was messily slapped onto the plate and was drenched in grease. The dumplings were rubbery and bland. My daughter joked the restaurant is not Hunan but hu-never. We won’t be back, ever.

Our favorite Chinese restaurant just closed and friends recommended we try this one. After 3 tries we are giving up. Food was good, but worst customer service ever! Servers were anxious to take our order, initial appetizer/soup brought to table immediately, but very slow to serve the main entrees. Then servers NEVER came back to ask if we were satisfied and NEVER, NEVER, NEVER asked if we would like anything else including more beer, wine, and water! We really wanted to try their new dim sum menu but with only 2 in our party, that was way too much food. When we asked if we could order a custom sampler platter, we were told absolutely not — only items on menu. No appreciation for patrons! Barely give their diners any attention and could care less about customizing menu items even when diners are willing to pay extra!

Hunan is my favorite restaurant of all time. I have been coming here since I was a little kid. The chicken sizzling rice soup is out of this world. It’s the best soup I’ve ever had anywhere. The other dishes are all amazing as well, made with quality ingredients. I love the crispy chicken with carrots and bamboos. Ask Sally to make it for you as it isn’t on the menu. Orange chicken, shrimp fried rice, egg foo young and the lunch specials are all great as well.

Best asian cuisine in Thousand Oaks. They just came out with a new Dim Sum menu and it’s fantastic. some of the things include shrimp dumplings, seasame balls, chicken shao mai, taro turnip cake, special crispy dumpling, bbq pork bun, and much more. This is my favorite place to eat. The staff is so friendly and always check on you to make sure youre happy. They are always filling up my water to the top and making sure everything is good. The free appetizer is so amazing(fried wonton and sweet/sour sauce), I love it! The orange chicken and kung pau chicken is the best! They also make an amazing war ton soup, This place is always clean, quiet and very fresh. I highly recommend it. Everything is prepared fresh, never frozen.

Hunan has been my family’s favorite Chinese restaurant for years. You cannot go wrong with any of their food! Our favorites: Orange chicken(comes with a side of pickled veggies — yum), mu shu pork, beef and snow peas(with water chestnuts) or beef and broccoli. And of course, there’s veggie/meat fried rices and noodles. All delicious with fresh ingredients.

Xmas day. First time here despite its being here forever. Got there at 4 pm, half empty so I thought we were good. Wrong! Ordered, waited and waited. Soup appeared in 30 minutes. Three standard menu dishes, one hour after that. Numerous requests for status www answered with a half smile, and no answer. Wow, what a mess. Food blechhh, terribly salty and inferior to other area restaurants. Even with the caveat that it was Christmas, no second chance from me. Multiple people walked out after being sat. Chang 101, please have us back, sorry we cheated on you

Holy shit. It literally took 3 hours to get food and they kept saying«it’s coming. It’s coming» like Paul Revere announcing the British Invasion. When we asked for a second pot of tea they said«no. There are too many people» what the fuck? Hot water and a tea bag?! Food was decent. Service blows.

This place is really authentic. My family has been coming here for years. When we crave real Chinese food. Some of our favorites are the sizzling pan fried noodles, imperial shrimp, fried tofu with shredded pork, Kung pao chicken, and their hot and sour soup… Although there are many great dishes! You can’t really go wrong.

I was in TO about a month back visiting a friend(live in West LA) and we were craving chinese food. I came across Hunan and am happy I did. The food was very fresh and delicious. The orance chicken in particular was probably some of the best I’ve had. My server(I think the owner) was super nice and recommended a number of great dishes for me to try. It’s hard finding good chinese on the westside and I would drive out for this food again(in fact I have!). If you’re in the area I definitely recommend it!

I always come here with my boyfriend and the food is always on point. I’ve tried a wide variety of dishes including salt and pepper fish(my favorite), mushu chicken, pan fried noodles, dumplings, sizzing rice soup, and many more. They are packed with flavor, but not too overwhelming. They are crisped and fried to perfection, but doesn’t feel greasy. None of the dishes have disapppinted thus far. The staff is amazing. Friendly as always. They remember their frequent customers and know exactly what they like or don’t like in their dishes. I highly recommend coming here if you’re in the area and in the mood for some authentic chinese food.

Gross. I work in the area and was surprised I have never been here before. I came in for lunch a was the first one in at 11:45. They told me to sit anywhere and I did. Ten minutes later a couple walked in who appeared to be regulars. I asked for a menu and the waitress proceeded to grab menus and waters for the couple. Irritated I got m own menu and then was acknowledged. The waitress asked me THREE times if I wanted steamed rice or fried. When my Kung pow chicken came out I’d was in a pool of soy sauce and no flavor. I barley ate it and ended up paying and going to Pick Up Stix; better food and table service.(and I don’t even like them).

Lunch menu is a bargain. At $ 7.95−8.95 menu with a wide choice of items. Sweet and sour soup is delicious and comes with the meal. I love the Imperial Shrimp lunch which is a generous portion of well prepared, tasty shrimp, served with rice,(brown rice is $ 1 extra), snow peas, fried won ton and fresh fruit. Service is attentive and gets me back to work in a reasonable lunch hour. I have eaten here for many years and they are always consistent. Plus they deliver now!
