Purchased soups for $ 32.00, and asked for some bread. Was told it was not included. Seriously?

We stopped in for some«protein to go» for breakfast before heading to Muir Woods yesterday and were delighted with our«frambled egg»(a blend of scrambled and fried) ham and cheese sandwiches. Large enough and rich enough to split with someone, but my husband and I each devoured a whole sandwich ourselves. YUM. Everything else in the prepared food case looked awesome. And their dinner entrees in the refrigerator(such as lasagne) look fabulous. Why shop/chop/prep/clean up yourself when you can buy meals like they prepare?

What a difference a year makes! Foodniks has always been a serviceable deli located near my house. The food was normally quite good, but not exactly memorable. And it’s a little pricier than most sandwich/salad joints. Then lo and behold, Foodniks underwent a massive transformation. I’m not sure if it’s new management or it’s just a new coat of paint(or a combination of both), but this is now one of the best delicatessens in Marin. They’ve recently refurbished the interior so there’s plenty more seating for lunch diners. It’s got a very comfortable vibe. This is the kind of place I could easily take both clients and/or friends. As for the food, it’s never been better! Sandwiches at the previous Foodniks was always kind of hit-or-miss. But I’ve been here 4 times now in the past month, and each time I’ve walked away a happy camper. This isn’t your generic turkey sandwich shop on whole wheat. Each sandwich they create has a nice mixture of gourmet ingredients and fresh meats. On my first visit, I had their roast beef with horseradish on a French roll. It was mouthwateringly good. And on my past few visits, I’ve indulged in their Fried Chicken sandwich topped with a tangy coleslaw. You’d be hard– pressed to find a better chicken sandwich in town for under $ 10. Everything here always tastes fresh. The service is quick and efficient(I’ve never waited longer than 10 minutes for my meal). Plus, they have a plethora of delicious salads and side orders to choose from. Foodniks — I’m not sure how you guys changed things. But what ever it is you did, it’s working. I’ll be coming back again and again. Keep up the great work!

Was our go to lunch spot on weekends, but after a loooong renovation they cut their sandwich menu in half, are no longer open on Sundays and the staff seems confused and disorganized. I love the look of the new bar, but they close at 4pm, so I am not sure how much use it is going to get. Bring back the old Foodniks!

Pros –Quality food that’s available on-demand –Best sandwiches you’ll find in Marin –New renovation plans make for a more enjoyable dining area Cons –This place is ridiculously expensive. You will accidentally assemble a $ 24 meal of takeout options without realizing it –If you’re looking for a dining experience, this place is a bit barren and uninteresting to eat at

A little disappointing after being closed for three months. Shiny new digs and the bar with beer on tap seems like a nice addition. I wish they had made a greater effort to take the sandwiches up a notch or two. Just ordered a roast beef sandwich for lunch that was«meh» at best. Not much beef, and not very rare. The third star is for the renovation. The two stars for the sandwich.

I ordered 19 box lunches for a picnic, and everyone loved them. My order was ready when I arrived at 8:45 a.m. The sandwiches were fresh and on nice bread. The fruit salad and herbed potato salad sides were copious and tasty; the huge chocolate chip cookie was delicious. My only complaint is that the boxes were a bit bulky; bags with handles would have worked just as well and been easier to transport.

I live a couple of blocks away and I go here at least once a week for a delicious sandwich – they have what I would describe as high quality products with prices to match – hearts of palm salad, a fantastic range of sandiwches on different types of delicious bread(focaccia, dutch crunch whole wheat, etc.). I’ve been coming here regularly for years – and quite satisfied at that. So, why the one star. I just called them to put in a sandwich order, and in their defense, I do customize my order – I get the club sandwich, and I ask for chicken(instead of turkey), no mayonnaise, dijion mustard, and on dutch crunch. After every tweak, I’m asked the question, «Is there anything else?» I do this once a week, so this isn’t anything new(and I realize I’m outing myself as Meg Ryan-esque from When Harry Met Sally). Anyway, before the person who took my order hung up, he said, «look, when we’re busy, we’re not going to have time for this order, so we’ll do this time» Wow, I guess Foodniks has become, you’ll take what we give you and you’ll like it. So, if you want any customization, be prepared for sass… Look, if Foodniks were a low-end deli(or even a grocery store) with lots of pre-made stuff and customizing is a time-consuming(and therefore expensive proposition), I get it. But, this is positioned as a high end, service-oriented place in Tiburon. Not ok in my book…

This is a nice little deli to get a sandwich from. After having issues with their salads/sides and frozen entrees there is but one thing that draws me here. Their version of a muffaletta. In my opinion it’s the best in Marin and possibly the bar area. The only issue I have(and this is only partially serious) is the size is wrong. If you walk by Central Market in New Orleans the ones they make are HUGE. Oh well. You can always order two. I haven’t been thrilled with their sides/salads. The other day I had a potato salad that was supposed to be made with red bliss(it seems they can’t tell the difference between red bliss and yukon gold). Besides using the wrong potato the ingredient listing I believe left out the mention of ginormous portions of hard boiled egg. I would consider this salad to be an epic fail due to not naming the main ingredient correctly. I also tried their spicy noodles. I think they need to remove spicy from their name. Oh well. Their to-go frozen entrees can be hit and miss. Read the ingredient list very closely, you might be surprised what they decided to put in the dish. One issue I did have last time I was there was the register got backed up and the person assisting played fast and loose with a few different peoples credit card receipts.

A wonderful deli with the most amazing sandwich in Marin! The Romeo… A grilled sandwich with turkey pastrami coleslaw and thousand island… Mouth is watering just thinking about it! I brought my friend one time and now he is hooked… I highly recommend it! One thing: If you order the vegetarian sandwich, make sure they grill it enough so that the cheese melts… they gave it to me cold once and it wasn’t the same.

Best deli in Marin by far! Or anywhere else for that matter. The sandwiches are always very fresh and they load them up with wholesome roasted meat, not processed meats and too much lettuce and unripe tomatoes like you get so often at other delis. They have a variety of tasty side dishes and salads you can get too. And the chocolate chip cookies are to die for. I usually get two, if they aren’t already sold out. The coffee is excellent too. And they offer a lot of prepared foods that look good, but I haven’t tried yet. I can’t seem to get away from my favorite sandwiches!

Sometimes they have deviled eggs for sale! But rarely do they ever make them. The past few times I have checked, they haven’t had any deviled eggs. I wish I could just go to places and buy deviled eggs. That would be lovely.

Normally, places that serve food like this are fun to enter, all bustling with anticipatory excitement of what goodie one might soon get to sink their teeth into. They usually have that cute look that screams«females like this food» and are often portrayed in film as places that Meryl Streep owns while she dallies romantically with Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin. Pardon Foodniks, as they seem not to have realized that this is the sort of place they are. It is not that their food doesn’t meet the mark(it does) but that their décor, layout, lighting, and whole demeanor seem designed to say take us or leave us but do not seek us out as we are not worthy. Foodniks has low self-esteem. The salad case, filled with many which look delicious has small signs announcing the offerings. I was looking for some sort of «3 on a plate» deal but saw no sign announcing such thing. Only some small to-go containers gave me an idea of how the salads might be served so I ordered a small container of the Orzo Salad and found it quite good. As an accompaniment, I ordered off the specialty sandwich board, a BLT($ 7.95) made with Applewood Smoked Bacon and served on warm, grilled sourdough. Even better than the orzo salad, this was a BLT close to perfection. The well-cooked, chewy bacon was ample and satisfying. The mayo(homemade?) added a rich luscious flavor. The bread was lightly grilled/toasted and right-sized. This was not a huge sandwich but it was completely ample, thoroughly satisfying, and seemed made with high-quality ingredients. Others have remarked on the prices which can add up quickly at Foodniks. My sandwich plus the small Orzo Salad came in just under $ 12 total which is not extreme for lunch but is high when you’re getting zero atmospheric accompaniment. If the workers somehow made up for that with enthusiasm and smiles and welcomes it might help soften the blow, but they don’t. They seem afflicted by the same desire as the rest of the place, to fly low beneath the radar and draw no attention. Foodniks is currently trading in good food, presented and served with no fanfair. I have the urge to tell someone to dress the place up and turn it into a place worthy of the food they’re serving(they’re already priced as such) but I have no influence. When you’re having one of those«I want to be alone», sweat-pants wearing days, this might be a good place to nosh at.

Food is good. I’d recommend the pulled pork sandwich. Yum! The prices are outrageous. I got a pint of the cold curried chicken salad and it was great, and 12 freakin dollars! I didn’t even realize I was spending that much until I was handing the money over. Ouch. Small little place in the same center as Peet’s and Paradise Grocery in Tiburon. 2 rooms– the second one is almost completely empty for patrons. Nice little place to set up shop and work, though I don’t believe there is wi-fi. Might be able to poach from the Peet’s wi-fi next door.

Roasted veggie and tomato soup totally lived up to the summery name. Potato pancakes are sold by the pound and are so addictive you may need to buy them by the pound. I started out with demure little bites and ended up stuffing an entire half pancake in my mouth. Basically a really nice place to get a quick bite that isn’t fast food. In fact, this is what fast food should be… good, natural food, freshly prepared and ready to eat. Open, warm atmosphere that invites you not to be in such a rush. Enjoy your meal!

Just went to Foodtniks for about the fifth time. I just don’t get how anyone puts up with the place — other than the fact that it’s there — no competition. Prices: Way high Food: Okay to good Service: Okay to slow Ordered soup — which came with nothing — no croûton, bread pieces, not even a napkin or spoon on a ’ to go’ order. Salad, $ 12.65 a lb. Over $ 9.00 for the medium container — a bit larger than the palm of my hand. Attitude of server: couldn’t care less.

I’ve been to Foodniks several times. The food is so-so and the costs are outrageous and outdated. While I’ve had a several decent sandwiches there, I get charged a different price each time, depending on who is ringing up the order — between $ 8.50 and $ 9.50 for a pretty basic veggie sandwich. Today, I was told my sandwich would be over $ 10. Way too much for a veggie sandwich. That was the last straw. They charge 75 cents per topping, no matter what it is(i.e. adding avocado is the same as adding sprouts or onion). On top of that, the addition of cheese is $ 1.25 per slice/serving. In most places, avocado and ALL basic veggies like onion and sprouts are included on a veggie sandwich(and sometimes cheese) — but not here. I would not recommend Foodniks until they update their pricing and make it more fair and consistent — i.e. basic veggies/toppings should not cost as much as avocado and more premium toppings. So, I went to the new Paradise Foods across the parking lot instead and got the same sandwich for $ 6.49. What drove me over the edge is the lack of consistency. It was already expensive, but over $ 10 for a veggie sandwich?! Not going to happen.

Outrageous prices for soso food and I don’t like the smell inside. They need some air circulation in that old building.

Club Sandwich — very good and very organized, like a cretaceous stratigraphy. The downside was that the avocado is like a spread instead of a slice, so it invades the bread making it mushy. Ruben — excellent. Not all rubens need be massive, gooshy with thousand island, or overflowing with sauerkraut. This one was tight, and well apportioned. The sauerkraut was not overwhelming, but subdued in a nice way. The bread hearty and lightly toasted. Lemon slaw — not being much of a slaw person I will refrain from comment. Location — yes. It has one.
