Went on a Sunday for a late lunch. Sure it’s usually a bit of a wait but that’s the way it is at Sam’s. Got seated on the patio and literally waited 15 minutes while employees were walking by us, serving others… literally invisible. It was very warm and no shade so at least a little water would have been a nice gesture … I had to go find someone at the front desk and tell them we were blown away by such treatment … a simple acknowledgement is like the #1 rule in hospitality which maybe is not being conveyed to staff. Another server heard the discussion and moved us to her section and took. over from there… 3stars = 1 for overall experience…5 for Cinnamon our server. Won’t bother going back … tons of other places around!

We had lunch here over the weekend, and it looked like the place was the place to be. You have to walk passed the bar in the front to get to the dining room/deck area in the back. It’s a bit much since the bar was kind of crowded and you’re carrying an 18 month old trying to navigate through bodies and hoping you don’t accidentally run into one. We had a booth in the dining room which was fine by me. It was toasty outside and air conditioning was very much appreciated. The views are great, even from the dining room. There are also large mirrors on the wall which reflect the view from outside. So you get to see the water and activity outside without having to bake in the sun. The service was fine. Our waitress was pleasant and accommodating. I did have to mention that I was still waiting on a ceviche order which was supposed to come with the entrees but I got a refill of my drink without asking, which was a nice gesture. Ok, one point of contention is the portion for Fish and Chips. Apparently, the kids portion of fish and chips is the same as the adult portion. The only difference is the adult portion receives a small side of coleslaw. Now the point of contention is that the adult portion costs $ 7 more. So in essence, the coleslaw costs $ 7, ouch! This area in Tiburon is supremely crowded and looks like this is how it is on a typical weekend. This is a decent place, but not a place I would look to come back to if I were in the area.

Sam’s is an awesome, fun atmosphere with amazing views. When my friend who lives in Tiburon and I have a chance to get together, we love to choose this café. The food is delicious and the service has always been great. We cannot pass up ordering their yummy Gin Fizz every time we go, either. We’ve been Sam’s customers for quite a few years and it’s always one of the names on the list of where we consider going when we get together! Parking isn’t hard, because you can park in the public lot across the street that is next to the movie theatre.

I could have gone to Jack in the box, i would have a better quality meal for that really poor quality food. Horrible customer service and really poor quality food for an expensive meal. Tourist or local beware of that place. Just an illusion of a good place to eat. In that case i would only recommend for a drink(cocktail and beer) and not to go eat over there. Or you would feel really robbed(two sandwich burger fish and beef with really salty fries and two beer for $ 85) with a really rude junky waiter waiting for you. There are way better restaurant on tiburon coast…

Came here for a work gathering, when we got here it was super warm and sunny, first off, just for details– we had a party of about 15 people or so. The menu was great, drinks were great. I ordered a halibut fish sandwich– was definitely not worth the price. Fries we’re good, and ranch was good. The calamari was great I tried some. My friend and I ordered the mixto which was a mix of seafood, not impressed by it, overall didn’t think that place was so great. If you’re looking for a better area– I suggest barrel house in Sausalito for their food. The design is exquisite and very neat. The dessert is a much try and I truly enjoyed the view and experience there. Service was okay here, and the people were nice and generous, I had to as repeatedly for more water I think 2 or 3 times.

Came here twice for brunch. First time I spent over $ 100(clam chowder bowl, cobb salad, 3 drinks). This place is overpriced? Yes. Skip the clam chowder. Second time brought 7 friends, got the $ 25 halibut sandwich. Small portions, soggy fries. Skip. Also, very pretentious guests all over the place. Servers are wonderful though. Just the food sucks, prices high, and clientele are entitled.

In short, great food, bad service… Details below, but 4-Stars because I was there to eat the food, not the service. I got an omelette with toast and fresh fruit. As I was ordering my omelette, I asked the girl working the register what fruits are in the side of fresh fruits. The girl said«I don’t know, fruit is fruit, the normal types of fruit, I don’t know…» While she was giving me a shrug ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ After the food came, no condiments were offered at all… No jam, no butter, no ketchup… And when I asked for them, I got a look from another perosn on working the register… Like really…

We came specifically to have lunch here after seeing it mentioned on Facebook and it was everything everyone said it was. Great views, food and atmosphere. I had the Alaskan halibut sandwich and she had the Ceasar salad, excellent choices while sitting at the water front view. Definitely recommend this place.

Ok so I gave it another try. Ugh. What’s up with this place? The servers are so interested in each other that they seem to forget that there are customers. The manager dude seems to care about it, but can’t seem to do anything. He talks, they listen, he walks away, they laugh at his back and go on fucking off. The food is eh. Weird new menu still not doing it for me. Expensive parking, expensive drinks, expensive food, cheap taste in the mouth. Clean it up, y’all.

Recently had the opportunity to visit Sam’s again. I have been several times in the past and found it a great stop on a motorcycle ride. My mother was visiting from the east coast and had told her how good it was, so we decided to stop in for some lunch. I should have noticed right from the start that it was not going to be a good experience. After getting to our table it took 15 minutes just to get our drinks ordered. My mother ordered a soda, so that was easy enough, but I ordered a margarita. When it got to the table, I took one sip and sent it back. It was sickly sweet and tasted like it had no alcohol in it what so ever. The experience didn’t get any better from there. I suggested that my mom order the Crab Louis Salad and I wanted my favorite, the Ahi Sandwich. We were quickly informed that Sam’s no longer offers these items. As we looked over the menu I decided the shrimp Po’Boy Sandwich and my mother on the Cioppino. These items are a little pricey at $ 18 and $ 34 each, it made me feel like I was ordering them at AT&T Park. But the quality has always been so good I am willing to pay the prices. The food was slow to come out and the waiter didn’t even seem to say anything about it we asked why it was taking so long. He acted as if this was the normal for them. Once the food arrived the disappointment with our lunch continued. The shrimp in my sandwich were hard as a rock and the bread tasted like it was a few days old. There was so much juice from the slaw that it was dripping out the sandwich and the bread was soggy. The Cioppino was a disgrace to anyone that knows what Cioppino is supposed to taste like. The seafood was chewy and overcooked and the base was watery and had no flavor to it at all. Overall, other than the view of the bay and the city, Sam’s has nothing to offer anyone. I have recommended this place to many of my friends in the past, but now that recommendation will be changing to a warning of a place not to stop and eat at. I am not sure what changes Sam’s has made since the last time I was there, but I can be sure they were not for the better.

Sam’s in Belvedere is an awesome restaurant that has the most scenic outdoor seating area! Views of the belvedere harbor and the San Francisco sky line make Sam’s a very special place to eat. Gary Crawford San Francisco

The weekday happy hour from 3−6p is a fun discovery. Prices are slashed. Highly recommend the Oysters Brian(broiled in garlic butter). But the menu has a lot of options. Yummy drinks. Great service. Incredible views. Nice crowd outside on the water in the sunshine.

After spending the day hiking with a group of friends in the Muir Woods, I was a bit worried about stopping in Sausalito on the return trip to San Francisco. It was a Saturday and the weather was gorgeous. Need I say more? I knew the crowds would be horrible at the cutesy restaurants that dot the charming Sausalito downtown. That’s when one of my friends suggested we go to neighboring Tiburon instead. I had never been to Tiburon and was a bit skeptical. The friend said he knew of a fun restaurant called Sam’s Anchor Café. I jumped onboard the idea and called ahead to the restaurant to see if the wait would be horrendous for a group of 8. We were hungry after a long hike! The host, Charlie, assured me that he would get us a table quickly. Tiburon is a cute town which had a smaller and quieter feel than Sausalito’s bustling main drive. There is a parking lot just down the street from the café. There was a small cash only fee to park there. However, it looked like there was some street parking along the drive as well. My friend mentioned that there is ferry service from Tiburon to the Embarcadero in SF if we didn’t happen to be driving. Upon arriving at the café, we met a smiling Charlie at the host stand. He recalled our phone call and immediately escorted us to a waterside table on their outdoor patio. Gorgeous views of the surrounding Tiburon hillside and adjacent marina dotted with luxury yachts. Our sever was Kelly. She greeted us quickly and got the drinks flowing. Our appetizers arrived promptly along with another round of drinks! Before we knew it, our entrees were in front of us. Everything looked terrific and tasted amazing! Kelly checked on us often smiling and chatting along the way. She didn’t get fazed when we suggested she split the check evenly between all 8 charge cards! Although we sat outside on the oversized patio… the bar and interior area appeared to be pleasantly decorated. The restrooms were large and clean. Upon wrapping up our dinner, we snapped a handful of pictures with the marina as a backdrop. It was the perfect dinner before our return to the crowded blocks of San Francisco.

Gave this place 2 stars cause location is nice but service could be a lot better. It’s kinda funny so we ordered a couple drinks I had Bloody Mary and my date had margarita and she ID him but not me ., was kinda awkward lol. We’re close to Same age but was just kinda weird. I asked her about the oysters and then the next time she came back to take order she told me they were out of one i wanted .ummm don’t u think u could mention that ?? We ordered different oysters, crab cakes, and salad. Salad never arrived and wasn’t on the bill so she totally didn’t listen. service was jus slow and she was so awkward. had to ask somebody to ask waitress for the bill. Oh and the Bloody Mary was the worst one I ever laid eyes on and this is my drink of choice. Not too mention it was $ 12! What a joke.

Really think this place is starting to benefit from a new chef with a creative new menu of crudo and appetizers like octopus escabeche, ceviche mixta, and tuna poke. The service was good but not great — prices a bit high, but what do you expect for an amazing waterfront location in Tiburon looking across the Bay towards the glimmering lights of San Francisco? What really made Sam’s stand out is the cioppino. Just wow. That broth and the spices in it that complement the fresh seafood swimming in it? Simply divine. My dad and I couldn’t get enough. The sourdough bread that is served upon request is a great addition to that meal(dip your hearts out). I had the rockfish a la plancha which was a little too buttery, but had a great ginger twang to it and the julienned carrots added a nice subtle texture to the dish. The fish was cooked well, and the mushrooms were also a worthy supporting actor(sorry, it’s Oscars season). I’d like to come back and see how the service is during a busy lunch hour on the sunny patio!

I heard once about this magical place. The folks of SF would take a ferry to Tiburon and head to Sam’s for the day. If you’re the elite, you’ll take your yacht to the convenient dock, park it and walk up for a drink or lunch. For 4th of July weekend, my friends and I wanted to go and check it out. So I looped my sweater over my shoulders and headed out. This place is awesome! There’s a huge outdoor deck. When you exit the ferry, walk a few buildings down and stand in line. If you catch the first ferry to Tiburon at around 11am, you’ll get a table right away. Lots of seating outside with a beautiful backdrop of the Tiburon million dollar houses. The service is fast and friendly. You mainly go there to drink all day, catch some sun and«nosh» on food. We had a ton of food and drinks. Aside from the whiskey, rose and champagne, here’s what we got for food: –Truffled Fries for $ 9 –Grilled artichoke for $ 9 –Black Mussels for $ 15 –Fried Calamari for $ 15 –Oysters in a half shell(6) for $ 18 –Beer Battered Onion Rings for $ 9 -(2) Crab Cakes for $ 17 Overall the food was good. I liked the mussels and calamari a lot. The mussels were served in a bowl with it’s own broth and flavorful. The calamari was battered and crispy. Overall, A HUGESUCCESS You go for the experience of getting out of the city and enjoying the surround area of Tiburon. Along the way, you’re treated to a good dining experience. I’m definitely coming back again super soon!

My friends and I decided to boat to the city for lunch! We stopped by this place. As we were anchoring the boat, my friend went to reserve seats as we thought it was busy. We were seated right away with a part of 6 around noon time. We ordered drinks first and then our meal. I ordered the fish and chip! It was definitely good! My boyfriend order 12 raw oysters, it was delicious with the sauce. I will definite come back again

Though the name implies a homey neighborhood, the prices belie a much more upscale place. With brunch and lunch entrees at least $ 15 each, this place costs a pretty penny. Our group had biked to Tiburon from SF, and we were starving. Sam’s does have a nice outdoor deck overlooking the water, but we couldn’t see much with all the docked boats in the way. Our group started with the $ 10 poblano guacamole and salsa with corn tortilla chips, which were standard in taste and high in price. I ordered the $ 16HANGTOWNFRYOMELETTE with fried freshly shucked oysters, bacon, scallions, pecorino romano cheese, an English muffin, and the choice of potatoes or fruit. The omelette was good, the oysters salty, and the portion fairly hearty. Some sliced dates were thrown in with the fresh fruit, which was a nice touch. My boyfriend and I shared a $ 9 bowl of their BOSTON-STYLECLAMCHOWDER, which is more watery than creamy, a bit bland(at least it wasn’t overly salted), and overall underwhelming. FYI, my boyfriend says their burger, which is $ 15 base and an extra $ 2 each for cheese, grilled onions, or bacon, is not worth it. Not bad, but I’m not inclined to return.

We came to Tiburon to celebrate a friend’s birthday on a beautiful sunny day and Sam’s fit the bill. We were seated in the infamous outdoor seating area which offered beautiful views of the water, we chose one of the hottest days of the year which was our bad so we were sweating but still enjoyed our time! Overall the food at Sam’s was excellent. Our group first shared some small bites, including the truffle fries which were fantastic. My boyfriend and I shared some raw oysters which had a great flavor. I did request some horseradish and cocktail sauce both from our waitress and another server but it never came. After the oysters I went with the heirloom tomato tartine, which our waitress initially forgot and then brought it out about 10 minutes after the rest of our table had been served, but when I did finally get it it was delicious. The goat cheese, fresh basil and ripe, juicy tomatoes all complimented each other perfectly on a thick, crunchy piece of bread. I would visit Sam’s again(maybe on a cooler day), although the service wasn’t top notch the food certainly was.
