stopped by after a long day of fishing. Had always seen a full parking lot, so figured the locals knew what was good. Boy, were they right! The food was so good, friendly service, and a down home country feel. It’s over an hour from my house, but I’m going back.

We stopped here for breakfast after a camping trip. Hard to find a place that was open before 11AM on a Saturday that didn’t get panned on here. My two boys and my wife came in and were seated in the large dining room, decorated in dead animal parts and logging memorabilia. The menu is your standard fair of burgers, eggs, pancakes, etc. I had a hankering for biscuits and gravy, and I ordered a side of Hash Browns. Every time I do this, I think of the crispy fired hash browns that I love. The wife had a grilled cheese and fries, the kids mac and cheese and the other one a pancake half stack. Mac and cheese was as expected and disappeared quickly with no complaints. The half stack was absolutely huge, but a solid pancake. The grilled cheese and fries were very average. I ended up ordering the two biscuits and gravy not sure of the size, it ended up being huge, did not really need the hash brown side. The biscuits were OK. The gravy was OK, but kind of lacking in flavor, just OK. Oh and everything came out warm, not hot, which was disappointing. Gonna have to bash the hash browns, which were cold by the time they were in front of me, and looked more like mashed potatoes thrown on a grill. At $ 3.95, do not order the hash brown side. It was disappointingly prepared, and I suffered the all too common not the crispy delicious hash browns I had envisioned. Hash browns were the one thing that was bad. Service was OK, there were only a few tables and the girl serving us was still being trained, a bit slow but you know, you gotta train employees sometime. Overall, Alice’s offers edible food that is OK and will sustain you, but isn’t anything worth going out of your way for. Does not seem like the cooks take pride in their food.

Burger was great(I had the Louisiana), service was friendly(but Über slow — very true to their statement on the menu…). I didn’t try much else — but I would certainly stop here again if I was hungry between the coast and Portland. Worth a look if you’re in the mood for eats and passing by. But not if you’re in a hurry…

Best restaurant coffee I’ve had in ages. Waitress helped us immediately. Huge fluffy pancakes. Next time I’d get a short stack as I took 1 ½ of the 3 home with me. Pepper bacon was good for my friend. I had the sausage which had great flavor. Even got to meet and chat with Alice. We’ll be back.

Disappointed. Waited 30 minutes without even a simple acknowledgement. No «welcome», no beverage offer, no «we’ll be with you sometime». Under staffed or they just don’t care. It wasn’t that busy, but I wouldn’t go in if there is more than a couple cars in the lot. The last straw was when a table that arrived after us was finally greeted and the waitress took their order. So we left.

We stopped in here Sunday morning on our way home from the beach. The breakfast was great… diner food, and who doesn’t love that! I had corned beef(made fresh… NOT canned) and my husband had the pork chop(wow…I stole a couple of bites!) Service was quick, and friendly. We will be back for sure!

Alice’s is a nice tweener spot. If you just left Tillamook and realized you needed a bite before you reach Forest Grove, this is the place to go! It does not look like much from the outside, but its clean, spacious, and interesting once you step through those doors. Watch out for that saw blade or choker hanging from the ceiling this logging themed establishment doesnt shy away from showing its roots. The Service its seat yourself and a couple of nice ladies will greet you at the door and make sure you know the drill. Food was on time, they were around to make sure you were happy. The Grub Food came out right away, everyone is chatting up the bacon and i would concur and would throw in a vote for that Oktoberfest sausage. i had the build your own omelet, it was perfect with that melted pepper jack on top. Hashbrowns depends on your style, they are not super crispy, mine tasted best when i added a tad bit of salt. My wife had the marionberry parfait, she said it was a little sweet for her taste, but nice presentation, and a large serving. Pricing Some reviews are misleading on the price. The omelet is $ 11 but only if you get 4 toppings, its $ 7 + $ 1/topping. Would definately go back again, very interesting atmosphere and the locals seem to love it.

This week My wife and I took the little drive to visit Alice’s. This was not one of my best decisions. My wife was looking for a good stake, unfortunately they have stake. We order a rib-I with prongs for $ 28 a plate. The waiters had no training and had to make four trips to ask how it was made, the price and So one. The stake came with a dinner salad but we had know idea that it was a self serve salad from the salad bar. After quite a wait our food came out. The stake was not a Rib-I, was cooked with no seasonings what so ever, was luck warm and the prongs were still cold and not safe to eat. It took 10 min to raise someone to let them that we would not be eating. Our server was not sure what to do so she brought out a gal that would not or could not speak English, she kept telling our server that they don’t cook with seasonings and that we should use the salt and pepper on the table and eat our stake. With that we were done with dinner. But they were not done with us, the other gal their had to come and chew us out for picking on her staff and for not knowing good food when it was placed in fount of us, because they have been in business for 30 years. For the food and service we received they will be lucky to be in business in the next months. Alice’s gets only one star for this totally unhappy dinners. And that is only because it won’t let me post with a no star rating.

Went here a few days ago and have to say I would not go again. –So overpriced. Really overpriced for what they offer. Prices are a dollar more per item than listed online. It’s a lot greasy fried food. very heavy. –mediocre food. We got a plate of fried clam strips, an oyster burger and a cheeseburger and everything was very so-so. Basically we picked the cheapest things on the menu but paid a lot for it. It costs $ 1.95 to sub out fries for a side salad on a burger plate. That kind of says it all. –we both felt queasy, nauseous and unwell afterward. +friendly staff +good location, on the way back from tillamook.

Not even busy… yet we didn’t get coffee in 10 mins… plus prices are ridiculous. An omlette is $ 11 and additional items are a $ 1…ridiculous…stay away! We left before we ever got coffee considering how little they care…

Stopped in here this afternoon hoping to get a hearty lunch. We were greeted right away, served cold Pepsi and handed menus. After deciding what we wanted, we waited for our waitress to come take our order. We never saw her again. We were the only patrons in the entire place. Another couple came in after awhile and were seated by a different waitress who also paid us no attention. After waiting 25 minutes to order, we decided to leave. Neither waitress said anything as we left, and no, we didn’t pay for our sodas. We will never return. Horrible customer service here.

Today was our second time here, after a camping weekend at the beach, we traded in the campfire and treated ourselves to a meal out on the way home. We loved the country ambience and eclectic décor. The server was friendly and efficient, but the food was just so-so. Husband liked the spicy Loisiana burger with hot sauce and sausage. I was craving chicken fried steak, but they stop serving breakfast at 2PM, so settled for it as a sandwich… big mistake! The chicken fried steak looked more like a greasy hamburger patty with lettuce, tomatoes, onion and mayo. No gravy? I asked for some but was charged $ 2.25 for it, but wasn’t told that till I got the bill. Husband enjoyed the strawberry rhubarb pie, wonderful flaky crust. Kids got Mac and cheese, but for $ 3.75 it’s just a small bowl of Kraft Mac and cheese with no sides or drink. Overall, Tillamook has no good options besides Fat Dog Pizza, so if you’re on the way home, you could do worse, but it could have been better.

Alice’s is adequate. I’ve been about a half dozen times, and the best thing has been the BLT, which was rock solid and large. Alice’s needs some serious revamping of their gravy, as the chicken fried steak was a let down, burdened by a truly bland and sausage-less milk gravy. Oyster and halibut sandwiches are plain. The Fish Peddler in Bay City does these much better. This brings us to the clam chowder. The last time I had it, and another review mentions this, it was sour. Not nice at all. Head to the Peddler for chowder, too. Other soups though, notably the split pea with ham, have been excellent. The salad bar is as uninteresting as can be, and is primarily iceberg and tubs of canned or chopped veggies. Lastly, Alice’s desperately needs to serve good fried chicken, a glaring omission on the menu. It’s a Country House, and that means fried chicken, man.

I drive the Wilson River Highway quite often and have always wondered about this place. I have always thought it would be good. It just looked that way, tucked out in the middle if no where. So when we finally did stop here, it wasn’t just good, it was pretty much to die for! They have such reasonable prices for the amount of food you got! I got a cheese omelette with bacon and we could have both eaten just that and been stuffed. My boyfriend got the French toast and those were divine! The homemade jam was killer and the bloody Mary’s where top-notch! Our waitress was nice, quick, and witty. When we walked in there was only one other person in the place and when we were about to walk out, it was packed! When the waitress brought us our check, she said don’t take offense to this, but you guys brought in my rush! And then she thanked us for coming in. I thought that was cute and sweet, because she was very sincere and happy about that. Can’t wait to go back!

Have to admit, it’s been a couple-few years since I lived in the Tillamook area, but I remember Alice’s so fondly. Good homecooking, ample portions… It’s a diner on a rural highway, so one needs to expect service and ambiance accordingly, but, oh… I don’t know that I ever had bad food there, truly! MMMMmmm! Fond memories!

For a roadside diner in the middle of the woods, it’s not a bad place for breakfast. The pepper bacon, thick and tasty, is the definite star of the show. Portions are big and the breakfast dishes are your standard morning staples. No need to buy a kids meal, chances are Mom won’t be able to finish hers. And Dad too for that matter. It’s a good place for kids– kids menu and lots of puzzles, books, and other toys to keep the munchkins entertained. Not too mention all that eclectic stuff filling the place.

Head east young man! Over the dairyland and through the woods to Alice’s house we go. What a great day. Southeast of downtown Tillamook, you venture through the grassy dairylands, into the mountains. After a good spring rain, you will see the mountain spirits hiding in the mist. Its a pretty sight. We are talking about a particularly gorgeous 9 mile drive heading into tree covered, lush mountains, following a winding lazy river. The mist has that«Brigadoonish» essense. So. We have arrived at our destination, refreshed and invigorated and ready to eat. Alice’s looks like a cute mountain cabin inside. Cozy stone fireplace, old timey character and friendly vibes. Eclectic. Old jars, antlers, and lethal farm implements hanging from the walls and ceiling. Antique furniture and local pictures. Three separate dining areas. Plenty of room for all. The food: Pepper bacon. Really good, smokey, thick, meaty, good fat, but not crispy. Where from you might ask? From Warrenton, Oregon. Reed and Hertig. I found it has been Unilocaled. Here you go, bacon lovers. Chicken fried steak. This is a thick cubed steak, floured then grilled so it reminds me of liver and onions(sans onions). Served with a heavy cream gravy that was ok not great. We’ve been spoiled by too many breakfast places lately. Stick with the bacon. Fresh eggs. Two. Cooked just so! The hash browns were freshly shredded, but slightly under done and not crispy. Hence not greasy either. I was disappointed, not over the fact they weren’t greasy, but because they just weren’t that good. I would try country fries next time. However, the wheat toast was great tasting and generously pre-buttered. I like that. It came with a cup of good raspberry jam. IMHO, the brightest star was the bacon. And by the way, little roadhouses like this feature homemade pies and pastries. We saw a little case that looked mighty tempting. While we did not succumb this time around, it is worth a second glance. Overall a decent breakfast even though I may seem critical.

Went mushroom hunting over the weekend!!! FUN… Had a late lunch at Alice’s(Have been passing by this place for so many times). Everything was ok but the Clam Chowder, it was sour. My babe tried it too and so I put a little salt in it, helped a little! I didn’t send it back(I don’t know why). Salad bar was okay(wish they have some eggs & corn). My babe had Halibut burger, he said it was okay.

Loved it! There are not enough places that really make a community like this one. This is a diner and everything is good. Loved the pepper bacon, & homemade raspberry jam. The inside is a trip down memory lane of the Tillamook, Oregon area complete with old photos, a bear skin, antlers, and lots of antiques. You feel like you are family when you leave… provided that you are a nice person to start with, that is. :) Oh, and they cater, too. Will stop by again!

«Beavers in the car and Ducks in the trunk» greets you as you walk in the door along with a ton of other Beavers memorabilia. Not the best day for two of us to wear Ducks gear, but college rivalry aside, they still served us with a smile. This roadside diner on the outskirts of Tillamook has been a family favorite for a couple years. Nothing fancy, but the local vibe and better than average diner fare make it stand out. When you walk in the door, there is a small café with a few bar stools and tables to the right, and more traditional restaurant seating to the left. We always prefer to sit in the café and feel like one of the locals, even though our shirts are the wrong color. Burgers, sandwiches, Tillamook ice cream. Good stuff.
