Now I loved Burger Bar 419 when I went to the one on heatherdowns rd. I have given the Monroe street one two times to change my mind about the atmosphere. By far the worst customer service I have ever had. First off, I know they are changing back to Star Bar so the waitress look so silly wearing their white high wasted shorts and bright red tank tops. Our waitress who looked no older than my 14 year old sister was completely over sexualized(which I know they do on purpose) but come on. I have my family with me. Took FOREVER to get anything. Poor family sitting across from us came in for the dad’s birthday and the waitress took 20 minutes to even come over and greet them. They had 3 little kids with them and more power to them because I would of left already. Our waitress never came over to check on our food or refills. It was just a horrible experience and way over priced.

I was not very impressed. Service was great! Food, not so much. I feel like everything was so salty! Plus I got the fries with my sandwich and they were so soft and greasy. I may go back to try their drink menu as I was unable to tonight, but I don’t think I’ll go back for the food.

First time going here and we went to the Monroe St. location. I thought the sandwiches were excellent and the fries were great. My husband had been there a couple years ago and said the menu has changed. I had the cuban missile and would highly recommend it! They serve grilled pineapple on their cuban sandwich. It was very tasty. The fries were thick, steak cut and delicious. My husband got the breakfast burger and it looked very good. He wouldn’t let me try it. We tried the pulled pork nachos and they were just ok, I wouldn’t order then again. The atmosphere here is great. They have plenty of seating inside and garage doors that open to a nicely sized patio. The service was friendly and quick. We will definitely stop here again.

This was a pretty average visit. Came here after researching on Unilocal and decided to give this place a try to watch a basketball game. The space is awesome, plenty of indoor seating, good TV’s above the bar, large garage doors opening onto a sizeable patio with another TV clad outdoor bar. There was no hostess to serve us, and as we were standing at the front, several of the waitresses saw us standing there and didn’t acknowledge us at all. We then decided to sit at the indoor bar where it took 10 mintues for the bartender to finally show up. We ordered a couple of brews and the bartender returned several minutes later and gave me something I didn’t order because he ran out of my choice. Eventually we ordered chicken wings to start off with– The wings tasted like chicken nuggets you’d get at Wendys or something similar, nothing to really rave about. I ended with the classic american, which for all practical purpose, was pretty good. We didn’t stay longer to finish watching the game because the service was painstakingly slow to the point of negligence which is the reason for the lower rating. I enjoyed the food and the venue would seem like a fun place for a large group of people.

Stopped in for my nephew’s 22nd birthday. Our waitress Erin was great and she gave excellent recommendations. Our North Carolina BBQ burger was great, the calamari with the sweetened thai sauce hit the spot and the mango and strawberry margarita’s were on point. Will return!

Great place, burgers were cooked to perfection, fries were spectacular. Staff was attentive and courteous without doing that thing where they check on your table every 14 seconds. It was great, wish I lived closer.

Needs salt. I came in the other day because I was craving a burger. It was around 6:00 on a weekday and the place was pretty deserted. We were seated promptly and given menus. The menu had a lot to choose from and I was having trouble deciding. I finally made a choice and put in a drink order. While waiting for the drinks we commented on how nice the interior was and how nice it was that it was quiet. First off the beer I ordered came to me and was flat. Secondly there was not a waitress to be seen until the food came to fix the problem. By then I had already consumed half of it and didn’t care anymore. When the food came out my burger had carry over cooked well past my desired temp. That could have just been the waitress not paying attention. But the burger was completely under seasoned, that is definitely the kitchen staff. I had to salt everything thoroughly and that helped little. I had high hopes for this burger and onion petals. The burgers balsamic onions had no flavor. Even the fontina cheese had nothing going on. The onion petals were like deep fried in tempura batter that literally had no salt. You need salt to balance the fat come on! If you want a good burger on Monroe street go to 415.

My wife and I ordered burgers medium. After an hour waiting on burgers, they came to us very rare. My wife could not eat hers. Told the 18 year old waitress and got a «sorry», but no redo or money off. Didn’t feel like waiting another hour for a burger. Place was busy, but not even close to full. Never again. Two stars for good beer.

Full disclosure: I’ve never posted a review before and don’t plan on doing so frequently, but I feel compelled to after my last visit here. Let me start off by saying the original location on Heatherdowns is one of my favorite restaurants in the city and the food and the service have always been stellar. With that said, the Monroe Street location is just awful. It’s the pits, man, as the kids say.(The kids don’t say that.) If the Heatherdowns location is the Godfather, the Monroe Street location is the Godfather Part III, except it’s also being acted out by an amateur improv troupe who has a terrible case of shingles. My first two trips to this spot shortly after they opened were perfectly fine. The food was good and the service was more than adequate. But on my last 4 or 5 stops in, things have gotten pretty dire. Like almost comically bad. On a Tuesday night, I stopped in with a two of my friends for a burger and a few beers. Our burgers were overcooked across the board, almost as if the cooks were having a contest in the back to see who could serve the worst one. Apparently when we said medium rare, they heard«NEVERSTOPCOOKINGIT.» The size of the burger was also noticeably smaller from my previous experiences there, looking like a slightly oversized slider. Also, they were out of almost every beer on tap and when my friend tried to order several of the bottled beers on the menu, they had none of those either. The waitress stated they hadn’t had some of those for a while. Hey, here’s a wild thought: maybe update the menu periodically so you don’t advertise stuff you don’t actually have. To be fair, our waitress was actually very nice and attentive though we were the only people in the place, so it was kind of hard not to be. The food has somehow gotten worse the last two times I’ve been there. I ordered something called The Stallion, which was nothing like the description on the menu and was basically a giant brick of some non-descipt, salted meat patty on some flatbread with some cheese on it. Maybe stay away from that one. I ordered the usually delightful onion petals on the side, which the server said should be coming out in just a minute. This already after forgetting two of my friends’ drinks. Twice. 15 minutes later the server finally returned and asked if there was anything she could get us. Hmmm. She finally returned with the onions after I reminded her, which were unsurprisingly coId and soggy.(Other than that they were great though!) The other diners had The Heater, which is supposed to be spicy, but it had maybe one small fleck of poblano pepper on it. Muy caliente! Also, it was ordered medium rare and again came out looking like someone cooked it in the microwave for three days straight before putting it on the grill. When our extremely disinterested waitress returned again she asked us how everything was. Normally I always respond with a «fine» at the very least, but everything was so, so awful I told her«not great.» She replied with an almost monotone, «Oh. Sorry. Anyone interested in dessert?» Why yes! Please, take more of my money and bring me out your most terribly crafted confection!(We didn’t get dessert. Shocking, I know.) Needless to say, I’m probably not going to be coming here any longer. Despite the fact I live less than two miles from here, I will gladly drive out of my way to go to the far superior Heatherdowns location. The people there at least seem to understand the strange desire some people have for some pink left on their burgers and the wait staff generally seems like they’re not angry at the world and are concerned with actually doing a good job.

Ate here recently on a Friday evening(prob not the best time to go) and am iffy on the food and service. My party was seated at a table right next to the outdoor bar POS machine where apparently all the waitresses congregate to talk smack about their customers and about how they are going to get«soo wasted» later that night. Ummm yeah… that’s my first issue. WHICH I understand the waitresses are younger and are prob being tested to their limits because the place was packed that evening, but I don’t need to hear cussing and how Wang Chung at table 10 left a $ 2 tip, lol. My next issue was that our waitress never asked how my party(we all ordered burgers) wanted the burgers cooked. You know like rare, medium, well done, charcoal brisket, etc. I’m not a picky person by ANY means but if you’re at a place that specializes in burgers, then I would assume the waitresses should be trained to ask that question, right??? The burger was so-so even with the extra fried green tomato I ordered on top of it, which was a very small fried green tomato that barely covered 1⁄3 of the burger. The home cut fries were good with sea salt, I will admit that. If you’re a fry guy like myself then make a special trip to check out their hand cut fries and chips! Well I’m starting to ramble but overall I feel like I didn’t get my money’s worth for a «hip» new restaurant experience. The rest of my party agreed so I know I’m not just being picky, lol.

I have probably been to this location 25 times or more. Going today actually. Love the patio. The servers are always super friendly and helpful. I have never had anything bad here. I have had things I like better than others, but that’s normal. I am currently a huge fan of the mussels. Plenty of mussels in the shell with sausage and good bread to sop up all the delicious broth. Perfect light lunch.

Our first visit to Burger Bar was a good experience, just not great. The atmosphere was cool, as they had the garage door up and did an indoor bar/outdoor bar and patio kinda thing. The food was appropriately priced, especially considering it’s all locally sourced. Big fan of this! As far as taste, we would go back again. The burger was pretty good, just not as good as Five Guys, for example.

Burger Bar 419 has decent burgers, and the wait staff is friendly. I would not pick this as a first choice in the summer though because they open the«garage style» doors to the patio and allow people to smoke out there. When an establishment doesn’t allow smoking inside, they shouldn’t allow it outside as well because those who can’t stand the smell of smoke lose out on enjoying the nice weather. Plus, with the doors opened, the smell of smoke drifts into the restaurant making just as unpleasant to sit inside. If they really wanted me to return, then they would ban smoking on the outside patio. Otherwise, I will go back only if someone really wants to go there.

We had some great meals here, but our most recent visit will be our last. The food is still delicious, but the service is THEWORST. It has been on the slow side(which, sadly, I’ve noticed is the norm at «trendy» restaurants) in the past. This time, it took 45 minutes to get our bill. This is AFTER we had been«dining» for close to 2 hours. We were ready to leave. Our server disappeared just after we got our meals and didn’t reappear until we asked to speak to a manager, who was unsympathetic to our complaint. I didn’t want anything comped, just an apology. We didn’t even get THAT. I hate to stop going here because the food is delicious, but the terrible service just isn’t worth my time.

The sandwiches were excellent — a burger and chicken margherita sandwich(I even got it on a gluten free bun!). My only warning is for the«hand-cut» fries. They were terrible. More like slabs of half-baked greasy potato sticks. They just weren’t «fried» enough. Next time I’ll try the chips.

Went back here for a second time. Hubby wanted to give it another try saying it’s not fair to judge on one visit. Outcome: probably not coming back here again. Food is just not fresh tasting. Everything is greasy and heavy. Burger was overdone and dry. The fries seem like they were double fried. I’m a cheese lover so I ordered the grilled cheese on flatbread. Don’t do it. Even that was too much for me. And lot the good, yummy, cheesy too much. Barely any marmalade. The cheeses were not melted. The bread tasted stale. On the bright side though, their sweet and tangy coleslaw was tasty. Then when our bill came, my $ 8 lunch(plus $ 3 side) ended up costing me $ 11.50 and I had to pay for the drink(which should have been included).

We have enjoyed our visits to Burger Bar’s original location in south Toledo, but the location has been so off the beaten path for us that we’ve only visited a few times. The atmosphere at the OG location is distinct and artsy, with little to no windows and oddly colored walls. The new location on Monroe takes the same great food but adds a distinctly quirky and high quality atmosphere that feels ready to compete with the other casual high quality dining in the area. In fact, it directly competes with it’s closest rival Bar 145 and I think Burger Bar 419 comes out a bit on top. Let me start by saying, our meal tonight was heavy handed with seasoning and there was a fair bit of greasiness along the way. While that might sound like a critique or complaint, it’s not. Everything was rich and flavorful, and nothing was dry or overcooked. We started with a couple of apps, and frankly I wish we didn’t. They filled us up more than expected and made tackling our shared entrees somewhat difficult. The fried green tomatoes were super duper fried but also super duper green in flavor. The bacon and slightly sweet & savory sauce on top was good. The chicken pops weren’t as spicy as I would have liked, but the presentation was nice. Honestly, from the name, we expected some sort of chicken meatball on a stick. These heavily trimmed drumsticks were a welcome surprise. As for the burgers we ordered, they were great! We split the«heater» and the«stallion.» We started with the heater, and the heat wasn’t as spicy as the name and ingredient list would imply. Specifically the pickled red onions kind of diminished the hotter toppings. I’d recommend either ordering it without the onions or perhaps adding some spicy catsup or jalapenos. It was a delicious and perfectly cooked burger otherwise. We followed with the stallion. Boy oh boy is it moist. And wet. And kind of greasy. But like all in the best way possible. I love a wet sandwich, like… a lot a lot. And this is one of the wetter sandwiches I’ve had in toledo. The pork and beef combo were on the salty side, and really tasted great. It’s basically like a combo of a meatball sub and a cheese steak minus any tomato products. It was gluttonous, and glorious. And very wet. I had to wash my hands off after eating my half. For our sides, we chose the onion petals and the fries. I also orders some garlic mayo, spicy catsup and anchovy /caper mayo. People… the anchovy mayo is to die for. I dipped my fries in it, and even after I was long past being too full to eat, I kept dipping my fries in it. Seriously good. Overall, this place is funky and deserves your respect. The atmosphere is a little oddball with art on the walls and sports on the giant TVs. The servers were all SUPER young and cute. I can see this becoming a horny old man hang out, just because of them. But for me, it’s about the rich and indulgent food. Go when you’re looking for a gutbuster, meat & cheese experience. I hope they do well. I’m coming back to try the cuban and some mac & cheese.

I was in the area visiting friends just over the state line and my Unilocal app clued me in to giving this place a try on a beautiful warm sunny Sunday afternoon. The GPS lead us to a shopping center off Monroe street and upon entering the lot I see no cars and thinking«rut-rho» but came to find this place at the rear of this shopping center and not easily seen from the road. Entering the place the hostess was on the phone and going through what appeared to be employee applications and never acknowledged us at all. After standing there awhile thankfully a server came and directed us to a booth. After ordering drinks we took time to peruse an extensive menu of gastropub style burgers, sandwiches and salads. Placed our orders and took time to take in the décor of this interesting space that offers seating indoors, outdoors and somewhere in between with large garage doors open to the patio bar area. Our orders arrived after our glasses had gone dry and that was truly the shining moment of this visit. My sammich, the BBBLT, Baby arugula, tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, balsamic vinegar, tarragon mayo, and sugar bacon on crispy fried flat bread was phenomenal. The sugared bacon was as close to bacony heaven that I’ll come to in this lifetime. I paired this up with«onion pedals» large chunks of onion in a tempura batter and fried to perfection. My friends meals were as good as my own and we shared some of our sides to everyone’s enjoyment of some great food. The biggest downfall from our trip was the service, our server came off as inattentive and poorly trained. I would have wholeheartedly given Burger Bar 4195 stars for the food alone but the service was really lacking this visit.

Burger Bar is good– but I’m always comparing it to Bar 145, which in my opinion has got better burgers and more toppings. BUT only at the Burger Bar can you get boozy milkshakes– which are ahhhmazing. Also, they have seriously kick ass onion petals. The atmosphere is chill and you can actually hear the people sitting at the table with you. The space in general is set up nicely, and you never have to wait long for good service. So– if you’re just looking for the better burger, head to Bar 145. If you’re looking for everything else, Burger Bar is the place.

Burger Bar 419’s second location is on Monroe, where the old Star Bar was previously located. FOOD: If you like the creative menu at the original BB419 on Heatherdowns, the menu here is nearly identical. And, based on my experience, the food is just as well executed. Some of the favs from the Star Bar menu have been held over, too. SERVICE: Our service was outstanding. When last we were there, we had 16 people in our party, and, the waitress made NOT a single mistake. We got our appetizers and drinks quickly, and the wait for the burgers was not bad either. You might notice that most of the waitresses were holdovers from the Star Bar. All seems good in that department. While we were eating, the chef came out to ensure our satisfaction, and then he thanked us for our patronage. Nice little touch. ATMOSPHERE: The atmosphere is the main difference. It’s more artsy than the Star Bar was, but the Heatherdowns location is still way, WAY cooler. The Monroe location does have the garage doors that open onto the patio(and, obviously, a sizable patio). There is, after all, something to be said for Al fresco dining. CLIENTELLE: All ages and many styles seemed to be there at lunch time and at dinner time. I haven’t been there at night after the DJ starts. But if it’s like the Star Bar was at night, and you are a good looking girl, you might consider bringing some industrial strength D-bag repellant.
