I stopped by tonight to get some fried seafood. They were out of clam strips, so I grabbed some shrimp and scallops to go. The food is no different than Long John Silver’s, at twice the price. The«platter» consisted of a 4 – 6 ounce bag of Sysco frozen food and a bunch of french fries. No sides or salad. Total cost for a handful of battered scallops and popcorn shrimp was $ 21.90. I’m not sure how they justify the prices. The ambiance is basically a dive bar with quick draw and some tv’s with sports shows.

After I panned Anderson’s, my mom was a bit worried about taking me to her favorite fish fry joint. However, cool heads prevailed and there we were on a Friday night, partaking of another Buff-lo tradition. The place looks a bit«down-in-the-mouth,» and I was warned that it was a «biker joint,» but at 6:30 pm, the night we were there, the inside was warm, friendly, and populated by families and senior citizens. Fitting the demographic, I felt at home. The waitress was right over and super friendly. The beer was cold and cheap by the pitcher. The fish fry was perfectly done, even my brother who worried about greasy fish«ate the whole thing.» My mom had broiled haddock with lemon-pepper seasoning, and my sister-in-law had the haddock with cajun(not-too-spicy) seasoning. Both thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The sides we had were fries — nicely crispy on the outside and fluffy inside and not laden with grease. The potato and macaroni salad tasted like my mom might have made them. The only difference of opinion was the cole slaw. Three of us really enjoyed the horseradish addition, but one of us didn’t care for it. But(nearly) the best part(aside from the flaky, yummy fish)…the price. We each had all we could eat and drink and got out with tax and tip for under $ 12.00 a person. For us out-of-towners, we thought we were visiting heaven. And isn’t that what all those Buffalo boosters would have us think? Watch out, Buffalo, Isle View might get discovered by one of those«road foodies» and then you’ll have to fight for a seat. Don’t wait, go there NOW!
