Very nice service, great food and a small town feel to it. It feels a little rundown and out of date but that’s what every small town diner feels like. It wasn’t too busy between 10 and 11am but food was still hot and great.

My wife and I went here this morning(Sunday). This was a very busy day for the restaurant. This was also my first visit here so take that in consideration when you read this review. The seating was quick, the waitress was promptly at our table when seated. We did not see our waitress again for approximately 20 min. To order our food. The coffee was less than desirable, but the water ways cold. The food finally arrived after a long wait. The food was not worth the wait our the high price of it. The building is in need of a very much needed remodel. Maybe the owner can take some of the money they are over charging for the food and update the restaurant. The staff was considerate but not overly helpful. The waitress received a dollar for a tip and was over tipped in my opinion. I will never return to this place as it was the worst experience I have ever had. There is better breakfast placed in town that top this place with better food, service and prices.

This is where so many who work downtown go for breakfast. Excellent breakfast burritos. Great service with real friendliness. I always smile when eating here.

Here for an incredibly short visit to Topeka! We stopped in for breakfast food-stuffs. The place was pretty busy — understandable on Sunday am — I ordered eggs, potatoes and sausage. Ozark sausage was really good. I enjoyed my breakfast as did my friends.

Quite frankly I used to love coming to this place. But honestly, they’ve priced themselves out of range for me. I don’t know about everyone else, but paying over then dollars per meal for a non-organic, gmo infused, preservative packed sysco truck breakfast is insane. The final straw was buying a bacon burger. The burger ITSELF was ten dollars, not including the side of fries and a drink. Think about that. Close to fifteen dollars for a previously frozen burger with bagged iceberg lettuce and finite amounts of bacon? Almost two dollars for non fresh cut, machine pressed French fries? And that’s not even the WORST part. My wife loved to come here and get their French toast with peanut butter and coffee. If you like peanut butter for anything here, check the bill. They changed $ 3.00 for ONEOUNCE of peanut butter. We asked the cashier if there was something special about this peanut butter. Nope, Terrible cheap as it comes peanut butter. Pressing more for the cost justification, the waitress repeated our question of if it was organic to the owner /manager /whatever he is. He laughed, said that a jar now costs $ 14, and he considered this one ounce a side. For our own knowledge of how BIG a fourteen dollar tub of peanut butter is, I went to Sam’s club and long story short at the price they charge they should be making a profit of around $ 300 on this«side.» So basically, if you want to spend over $ 30PLUSTIP for two meals that aren’t special, come here.

I had the short stack. Not a bad place to stop for a break during a long bike ride. The shunga trail is literally across the tracks from this establishment. I had the shortstack and a cup of coffee. The hot syrup definitely was a nice touch… Overall, good pancakes. The décor of the joint needs an update, but other than that… real solid.

This is a great spot for those wanting a classic diner vibe with a lot of variety. They’re obviously known for their breakfast, but they have a huge selection of other foods. It seems to cater to an older crowd of retirees and older folks, but the food has a lot of appeal for a younger crowd. Cool little retro counter with an assortment of candies and things to purchase on your way out.

I always thought that you couldn’t mess up breakfast but I was wrong. Easily the worst breakfast I’ve had in a long time– and not cheap. Orders prepared incorrectly, dirty drinking glasses and small portions. Go across to Mc Donald’s for a fresh breakfast.

Local local local joint. Takes you back to the 1970’s but who doesn’t like the 70’s. Had the hard hat special which is 2 eggs, 3 pancakes and hash browns with a side of meat. They have spicy jalapeño bacon which would seem to be pretty good but didn’t try it. The breakfast burrito was filled plum full with great stuff and would recommend it to the burrito lovers out there. Got seated quickly and Everyone was super nice.

In Topeka on business and decided to stop for breakfast before work. This place hasn’t been updated since 1973. I can feel the springs in the booth I’m sitting in. Service is slow. I waited 30 minutes for blueberry pancakes. When they finally came out, I saw a giant black hair in them. Not cool. I pointed it out to the waitress who was more than happy to have them remade, but that kind of thing is a turnoff. Tried my replacement pancakes, but they weren’t very good. Friendly enough staff but the food just isn’t worth it.

I desperately wish I could give a better review but I have never had a good experience here. The few times I dined here, I told myself i wouldn’t be back. The omelette I had was cold in the center, and the veggies were not cooked fully. When eating eggs, the last thing you want is cold ones. The next time I was in, the service was very slow and when I did receive my food, I had a massive black hair in it. I understand this happens, and had no reason to make a big deal about it. The manager took care of it as expected so I was happy to see that. I’d say head the opposite way to IHOP for some pancakes if you are in that mood.

Good old school independent breakfast and lunch joint. The biscuits and gravy and hash browns I had for lunch were tasty. The biscuits were a bit dense, though. Everything else was just fine and the service was sweet. They have some things worth coming back for like red velvet pancakes and jalapeño bacon. Mmmmm!

Topeka’s downtown diner. Dependable and with a fairly large and varied menu. That said, it is not particularly excellent in any respect, although there are no serious defects in the quality of the food served. Reputed to be a favorite lunch spot for the State’s supreme court justices, the place reflects Topeka itself. And that can be fairly depressing. Ambiance is measured in negative numbers. Staff is friendly and relatively efficient. Prices are a touch higher than one might expect.

Really disappointed. We were looking for a Waffle House but when none were nearby we decided to try this Topeka tradition. Based on the reviews and the idea of a «real restaurant» we thought we’d be getting some star quality diner breakfast. Very disappointed.(Did I say that already?). The waffle was flavorless, the scrambled eggs bland and the coffee certainly not worth $ 2 per cup. The Hard Hat breakfast special didn’t come with meat, so make sure you read the fine print. If there’s a next time, we’ll just keep driving until we find a Waffle House.

Came in with a customer who also hadnt been here. Ordered the pancake wrap. A huge pancake with sausage, eggs, cheese, ect. All wrapped inside. It worked fabulously. It also was huge. I couldnt eat it all. The jalapeño bacon was also fantastic. GOHERE.

Good service, and tasty breakfast. Then again, I only had breakfast the other meals must be good too. I had two cakes and turkey sausage, grandpa had oatmeal. He drank coffee and I had cocoa, divine. Could’ve been the whipped cream. Cute place with character, suited our needs as they were open at the ungodly hour of 6am. Our train arrived at 520am, by the time we got our taxi it was 6am. Perfect! Thanks, late cabbies everywhere as you made us on time for the most important meal of the day.

This is a great breakfast and lunch spot in downtown Topeka. I had the Reuben sandwich and that was the best Reuben I have had in Kansas since I moved here 6 years ago. Friday is also 99 cents slice of pie day, and the pie was good.
