This must be Topsham’s secret treasure. The food was absolutely perfect and the prices were WAY less than they should’ve been. We went for supper in April, so we ate indoors, which has a pretty nice atmosphere. Everything on the menu is sourced in Maine and made in-house by an amazing chef who obviously carefully chooses every single ingredient. My brother got vegetarian chili and a burger with hand-cut fries-I stole a fry and it was perfect. His burger should have cost at least $ 35-and it was $ 11. I got the pasta special for the day, fettuccine carbonara with home-made pasta. The bacon was absolutely perfect, and I’ve never tasted sauce remotely like this one-it was exceptional. The pasta was the perfect texture… outstanding meal for $ 13. Seriously. My brother got gelato from Gelato Fiasco and two homemade sauces on it– chocolate and caramel. I got an extremely delicious lemon almond cake. We were worried when the sign outside said«appropriate attire,» and we were in jeans, but so was everyone who came in. All the tables were reserved except 2 – when you go, try to call ahead. Exceptional place — amazing food and outrageously low prices. This place is a gem.

Met my other half for a drink and app after he finished an afternoon of golf. We each ordered a glass of the Aresti Sauv Blanc($ 7) and the Tuscan Plate to share: Grilled veg, white bean-rosemary purée, flatbread and olives($ 8). The purée was yummy, creamy and artfully prepared. A really nice little nosh. I’d REALLY like to be able to offer another star, but there are some service issues that need to be worked out. Our server, though pretty and pleasant, was woefully under-trained. When we asked for the Sauv Blanc, she blinked and said«Is that red or white?» Whoops. One table ordered a Cosmo, which really sent her into a panic. The chef, Rae, ended up bailing her out by taking over most of her drink orders. The other servers appeared harried and slightly irritable. Add to this experience — a table of LOUD people crammed in right behind us. We were watching(wait for it!) golf on the bar TV. Just as these folks sat down, the fellow with the loudest voice yelled at the bartender«Hey — put on the Belmont race!» without bothering to find out if anyone might prefer watching something else. The entire table then dominated the tone of the pub. One fellow ordered a scotch, and asked«How much does that cost?» Really? Rae offered him different choices from single malts to blends, ranging in price from $ 6.50 to $ 14 a glass. After asking her a litany of questions — he settled on Dewars($ 6.50). Our poor young server tried her best to accommodate — Mr. Belmont ordered a glass of Reisling. She asked him how to SPELL it, which he did — loud enough for everyone to hear. He then asked her, «Is this day one?» She squeaked, «No, Day 3. Please try and bear with me.» She scooted off to fulfill the drink orders, which Rae handled for her like a champ. The pub itself is attractive, and the course greens are well-manicured. The plates that went by us looked good — smelled good, too. I’ll give this place another shot — I’ll just make sure to find out who’s serving, and go when Mr. Belmont and Mr. Scotch are otherwise engaged.
