Had dinner there last night, ordered the dinner for 2 I got the shrimp chow min and my husband got the Kung Pao chicken which comes w/fried shrimp and egg rolls. Every thing was great except the shrimp chow min, it was awful the noodles was over cooked and it look like they cooked ahead and lifted it sitting so it was all stuck together. Very disappointed.

Not really good at all… i ordered the salted pork chops and vegetable chow mein, and it was poorly done. I was sooooooo disappointed. I threw what was leftover in the trash and took it as a lost.

One of my favorite places to eat. Doesn’t look Iike much from the outside(or inside) but the food is great, service is wonderful and prices are low. I come about once a week and try something different each time. I’ve not had a bad dish yet! Eat there or take it to go, you won’t be disappointed

Crispy flounder naahhhh… It wasn’t that really crispy at all, I ordered for salt and peppered pork chops the pork wasn’t pork chops it’s a different part of pork and the way they fried it OMG the oil they use it seems like it has been used for two weeks and the pork wasn’t that really fried, walnut shrimp doesn’t have enough cream it’s a little bit dry but the crispy chow mien is good all in all I rated it only two stars

NEVERAGAIN!!! They advertise that they deliver, but after ordering [and paying] online they claim that their driver didn’t come in. Mind you… We are RIGHTACROSSTHESTREET. They didn’t give us a refund for the inconvenience and when we received our food [THREEHOURSLATER] the delivery guy had an attitude and demanded a tip. I heard such great thing about this place, but it seems that since the change in management this place turn to crap. Not to mention that the food was UNDERCOOKED for one dish and they BURNEDTHECHOWMEIN. WHOBURNSCHOWMEIN??? NEVERAGAIN!!!

I continued my Chinese hunt and chose this place. We were filled when we had soup it was just filling and awesome. I did not like much about the house special pan fried noodle as hunger is done with soup. Think before ordering the portion is huge and you would be forced to take boxes with less number in group.

This Chinese restaurant is surprisingly good. The service is fast, it’s cheap too. The orange peel chicken is really good. The potions are enough for 2 or 3 unless your a fatty lol

I’ve been coming to this place for years and it’s a MUST if I’m ever in the Torrance area. I recommend the chicken and shrimp dishes, and of course the traditional style desserts. All-around great place to satisfy your Chinese food cravings for lunch or dinner. Not sure if you can tell from the photos, but its a pretty big place inside so good for large parties. It’s cheap and family owned too which is always nice to see!

This place has to be one of the best Chinese food restaurants in the south Bay location. If you are look for the traditional Chinese fast food, yes you can find it here but why would you waste the opportunity to enjoy some far more delicious dishes? The menu has so many choices in case you are feeling adventurous. Don’t make a mistake, they are not selling you the ambience like the well know Chinese franchise restaurants out there. Next time you are around, drop by for an excellent meal.

I live their food. Especially kung pao chicken. I get it with white mea, for $ 1.00 more. The regular way is delicious too because the dark meat seems to have more of their delicious sauce on it. The sauce is the bomb!

Everything is very delicious every time we go! Michelle Kwan’s parents used to own the place.(She’s a prof figure skater.) Their price is also very reasonable. The staff doesn’t do the typical chit chat but being you whatever you ask. I suggest the Mongolian beef and Kung pao chicken. Their shrimp dish I tried was just ok.

I’ve been coming here for years. I even had my son’s baptism reception here. He is now 17… Old Owners: Portions were bigger and tasted better but I am sure they were losing money every month until they finally gave up. Décor was outdated and desperately needed a remodel. New Owners: I commend the new ownership for trying to improve the place with new menus and a «remodel» attempt. But raising the prices and making smaller portions was a double hit. And now the flavor profiles are all messed up. Triple whammy! The batter for any dish now tastes like funnel cake. My squid tastes like funnel cake? My fried fish tastes like funnel cake? The batter is too sweet. It’s a quick fix. Also the Squid with Spicy Salt has no more flavor. I’m guessing you guys eased up on the MSG which is good, but you still need to season/flavor it. A pinch of salt and pepper wouldn’t hurt. Or maybe try tasting the food before it goes out. Staff: You seem to have at least 3 – 4 waiters at all time. Kind of a waste when you only have 20 customers at a time. You can get away with 1 or 2 waiters. But they actually have to serve and wait. Your waiters love to avoid eye contact so they don’t have to attend to customers. I wish they were more observant too. If they don’t want to work, let them go. Maybe you can buy 2 gallons of paint($ 50) and have them paint the outside. So they earn their keep. I don’t like giving up on old school favorites so I will probably be back in hopes for change. But for now… it’s time for a break away from Golden Pheasant. Thanks for the memories!

My Favorite go to Chinese food… The lunch specials are the best. They have many to choose from. My now fav(just because I’ve been coming here for 15 years) is the Salt & Pepper Squid. The best Calamari ever. BUT, I was just told on my last visit(last week) that they have a Lobster special, $ 40 but you get one FREE… I must try. Because my favorite Lobster is at SeaPort in Torrance… With my calamari, I always order the Ong Choi w/garlic or the mixed veg. I’ve got to say, The service is not all that great BUT who the F is going out to eat b/c of service. I go b. c of CHEAP food.

If you are craving for some porkchops with spicy salt and fried rice, this is the place to go! They have a lunch special and it usually costs you about $ 7 per entrée but with that comes with rice and soup. They also give you almond jelly at the end. The only thing i don’t like is they are really cheap on the chili oil. They only give you a tiny amount! Also, the servers just passes you by and doesn’t really ask if you need something. And when you do need something, they are nowhere to be found! Good food for a great price.

Sad this place changed ownership. I’ve been coming here ever since I can remember! The owner knew my family and always stopped by our table to say hi and see how we were doing. Very genuine. I miss him! The last time my family was here our usual order did NOT taste the same. Most specifically the salt and pepper squid. That was my ALL time favorite! I’m not sure what they did to it but it wasn’t the same. The employees were all different and by far rude compared to the past staff. My family now frequents a Chinese restaurant right up the street.

I found my new favorite Chinese eatery. I normally go down the street to HKG because family favorite. Sadly, that’s why it took me so long to try it. The place is a little dated, but the food was yummy. I ordered out, so can’t comment on service too much, but while ordering, the cashier was very pleasant and had great recommendations. It was the best Orange chicken which is our favorite. And shrimp with walnuts was scrumptious. Can’t wait for the next time I’m in the mood for Chinese.

Not bad. The service can be pretty iffy at times. But the food is good and at a cheap price of about $ 10 a person for the lunch specials

What does figure skating have to do with Chinese food? Whenever I think of Golden Phesant I think of Michelle Kwan. Her family used to own the restaurant and my uncle once saw her here and got her autograph on a receipt hehe. I never had the chance to go to Golden Pheasant when the Kwan family owned it so I never saw Michelle(I did see her at the UCLA dorms a couple times as a student but that’s a different story hehe) but when I did go to the Golden Pheasant recently, I noticed the restaurant has several photos of Michelle Kwan. Anyways it was my first time coming to this place and I was impressed at the good prices and variety of selections. I got the braised bean curd in brown sauce($ 5.75) and the homemade style fried rice noodle($ 6.75). The lunch specials came with steamed rice and the soup of the day. The soup of the day that day was hot and sour. Among the lunch specials we ordered, I liked the braised bean curd. It was tasty and I liked that it had lots of veggies. The braised bean curd in brown rice came with snow peas, mushrooms and carrots. The homemade style rice noodle wa very similar to Singapore noodles except it was not spicy. It was vermecelli type noodles and was topped with eggs and a little bit of meat. The vermecelli was a bit on the dry side. We were served a almond jello dessert at the end of the lunch. It was not too sweet, which was nice. It was also very soft. It’s a good complimentary dessert. The prices and selection are good but I did notice their portions are a little small. I do like though that this is another place in the South Bay to have Chinese food at. They offer some selections that I have not seen at other places.
