Stopped here Labor day morning because they were the only place either open or not packed for breakfast after driving around three towns for over an hour. Atmosphere: From the paper menus that had been soaked with water and dried, to the tables and chairs that have been around since the 80’s it was obvious not much care is given to comfort. Didn’t feel very welcome by what had to be regular customers as I was stared down by a guy for 10 minutes before he left. Our waitress complained about having to work 3 jobs because«Nobody tips good». When a meal is $ 3-$ 4 you shouldn’t expect a $ 4 tip, our bill was $ 14, tip should’ve been about $ 2 we left $ 3. Food: I ordered the mushroom and cheese omelet, my wife ordered the bacon and cheese omelet and we ordered a side of bacon to share. Omelets were full of processed white American cheese, mushrooms were rubbery and from a can. The bacon was that paper thin microwaveable garbage and was dry, most likely sitting in a bin for awhile(I did not smell bacon being cooked even though we sat next to kitchen area). The potatoes were burnt black on one side and almost raw on the other side. No amount of salt or ketchup helped. Prices: Prices were very good, most expensive thing on the menu breakfast wise was steak and eggs and that was only $ 8.50, most everything else was between $ 3-$ 4. I don’t plan on returning, but if I do I think I’ll skip the food and try the coffee, hear it isn’t too bad.

Ugh, I know it’s a dive breakfast place, but the food was gross. Greasy, cheap, and sticky. The coffee was undrinkable. I swear they use cigarette grounds mixed in with Folders.

To be honest I chose AC’s because it is the same as my initials. Note to self, don’t base restaurant choices on your initials. The place was packed when we showed up at 10, took it as a good sign, so we waited. Ordered coffee it was decent, hunny ordered a dixie cup sized OJ, I hate when breakfast joints skimp on juice. I ordered ham and veggie omelette, it was ok, but it filled with that gross, fake cheese that just sticks to your teeth. I added lots of ketchup so I could eat it. My hunny had chocolate chip pancakes, bacon which was definitely microwaved and scrambled eggs, they were scrambled with a slice of cheese melted on top… horrible. We both ordered a side of the worst hashbrowns I’ve ever had. Boiled, peeled unseasoned potatoes that must have hit a margarined griddle for all of 30 seconds. We still had some pieces that were hard. There wasnt even a bit of brown on the hash. The waitress saw we hadn’t touched them and told us she’d take it off our bill. She also said you have to ask for them to be seasoned and crispy. I guess we assumed it was a given. Not sure what the wait was for but we won’t be back. Ac’s… putting my name to shame.

It’s a great place to stop in for quick and reasonable coffee and breakfast. Local regulars and old favorites here. Nothing too out of the ordinary but I think that’s what folks like about it.

What a great discovery! Stay out of downtown, you want great food at 1960’s prices this is the place! I couldn’t believe the huge portions for such a modest price. Real homey, locals, kind of reminds me of Durkin Parks in Boston. breakfast for two the works just $ 10.52 that included tax! Got to go there! I award this gem of a restaurant 5 golden platters out of a possible 5. Great job guys, I’ll see you again(in my raccoon hat)

If you’re looking for a good place to have breakfast and not an outstanding atmosphere you can find AC’s in the south end of Torrington, CT. Lots of locals and regulars, and the wait staff is great. Ask for Lauren and get the steak and eggs!

Small hometown family feel. Unassuming and full of locals(which in Torrington is always an adventure). Great prices, big breakfasts, hot coffee. Little cramped with how busy it was, and the bathroom situation leaves something to be desired(I love peeing while looking into a mop sink, don’t you?) but it’s worth it for feeling like it’s okay to roll in there in sweatpants on a Sunday morning.

Great place for breakfast. Nothing fancy but good food, great prices. Family of 4(granted three of them were girls) and breakfast was still under $ 30 with tip. Plus it appears a lot of city workers go here and you know they know food judging by the size of some of them. Will go again
