Their grilled cheese sandwich and tomato bisque soup is the stuff dreams are made of and there are countless other delicious options. Excellent beer and fantastic food.

40+ beers on tap. Not a beer drinker but husband loved it. I had sparkling and cider which was good. Helpful and nice staff.

This place was the highlight of our TC trip. I was determined to eat delicious food and this place did not disappoint! We started things off with the most amazing balls of dough(pretzels) that I’ve ever had. My burger that followed was equally tasty. This place is glorious!

Saw this place while walking around downtown TC and decided to pop in. I actually went to Belgium last year and the beers there are delicious, but are filled w/alcohol. I ended up giving one of the bartender’s suggestions a try(my request was Belgium w/less EtOH) — Harvest Saison(from Stormcloud Brewing Co). It was DELICIOUS and fit the request perfectly. As Colleen C. said — there are a lot of options here. Definitely worth a look-see if you’re in the area. I’d definitely hit this place lots if I lived in the area. Great staff, nice feel, lots of delicious beer options. Yes, yes, and yes please. Next time I’m going to have to check out the food as Jon G. says it’s «phay nominal» and Chelsea C. mentions pork belly(one of my favs). Next time, next time…

A beer list to die for and some of the best background bar music I’ve heard in a while. Pork belly BLT on naaan?! Shut up. And my husband’s burger was out of this world. Service was great; beer glasses were unique; and, our bill wasn’t too bad for three meals, four beers, and a 7 Monks pint glass. I’d make 7 Monks a stop any time I find myself back in Traverse City.

I’ll keep it PC, but this place is f@#cking awesome! Food is phay nominal! I highly recommend making a trip to this amazing place. I’ll have to bring my own Mason Jar next time to get a jar full of the mustard. If you are ever in Traverse City, make sure you stop here!

wagyu burger was on point. Very well curated beer menu. Awesome place. A guy talked to me a lot when I went to the bathroom, which is random and can not be factored in to this experience… But it happened nonetheless.

After a long drive we decided to relax, place had a cool atmosphere and lots of beer choices, not that much food. Service was good as well but not that much people in there at the time. APP-monk and cheese was amazing MEAL– abbey burger was alright, fries were better. Pork sandwich on nan bread was yummy, pork was perfectly cooked, sweet potato fries needed to be well done

I really like 7 Monks. They have a great taplist at pretty good prices. The service I’ve had has always been good. I’ve never had any food when I’ve been there, so I’ll withhold final judgment until I’ve eaten.

My boyfriend and I dined here on Saturday for lunch and we enjoyed the food. I liked my Waygu burger with bacon and cheese served bunless by request with an interesting sweet fig balsamic dressing. The reason I am only giving this location four stars is because he said his pizza was just okay. We probably should have ordered the appetizers and beers. I’d try it out again next time we are back in TC.

I’m giving it 5 stars! I came for the beer, I stayed for the winter hat. When we visited the taproom, it was a Shorts tap take over. I am definitely down to come back when they have a variety but you can’t lose with Shorts either! All the food and beer we ordered was amazing. And we obviously caved and bought the 7 Monks winter hats because duh. Keep in mind, it’s first come first serve seating which can either turn cut throat or become a chance to make new friends — it’s all how you look at it!

Self Serve bar tables are popular in the Traverse City area and this includes 7 Monks. But, the bartender did come and check on us, so we weren’t really sure how true it was! We started with pretzel rolls and they were very light and yeasty. I know that’s not a word, but it was almost like eating a small dinner roll. Don’t get me wrong, they were amazing and I think I’ve dreamed about them at least once already! I also got the fries and a small salad, both were enjoyable. Very cool place!

5 stars for happy hour. This was a stop of ours on a TC area pub crawl. The beer choices are pretty extensive and the staff was awesome. It’s also centrally located right in downtown so great if you’re in the city. Happy hour is what out it over the top for us. We had 3 beers, a wine, and an orange crush and it was only $ 16.50. With those prices for good beer and a great atmosphere how can you go wrong. We will definitely return and highly recommend checking it out. Of the 5 places we stopped it was 3rd on the list but that’s totally subjective. I personally liked the jolly pumpkin better because of its atmosphere and the right brain brewery because of its quirkiness. 7 monks was still pretty awesome though so give it a look.

This place is cool and hip. I love the décor. Went on a Wednesday and it was busy. There was band, which is cool. There were around 25 to 30 beers on tab, most of them from well known breweries Next time we’re in town, we’re going to try the food. Parking is easy. Plenty of spaces on the street.

I was here on a very quiet Monday night. Initially we had planned on going to the cocktail bar below, but it wasn’t open until Wednesday. We decided on seats at the bar as there were only a handful of patrons. The bartender was super friendly and chatted with us during the evening. We also got to talking with who I would assume was the manager(maybe owner) who was also a genuinely friendly guy. We had 3 drinks and the selection was good. There was a wide variety and although we didn’t need any assistance finding something, the beer list was descriptive and the staff knew their stuff. Since it was slow we ended up closing the place down. We didn’t feel pressured to leave, even though I know they likely closed down once we left. Since we were sitting at the bar I noticed that the closing process was thorough and everything was super clean! This place had a very chill atmosphere, not sure what it would be like on a busy night but we had a great night there.

As I was wondering around downtown in search a cold beer and a hot meal, I heard some live music and saw what seemed like a very happy lady dancing around to said live music. Once I saw her, I knew this was the place to be. I walked in and directly went to the bar, and was greeted quit quickly by an eager and friendly bartender. I started off with one of their many draft beers and then took my time reviewing the menu. I ended up settling on the«monk and cheese» and I was not disappointed at all. The menu was not large, but had enough selections and it seemed like having less than normal amounts of food selections played into them perfecting what they did have, which was reflected in my dinner. The vibe of the place was great. Everyone was happy, especially the girl dancing by herself, enjoying her Thursday night. The overall feel was local, but welcoming. The staff was friendly and informative, while the other patrons were just as friendly and welcoming. I am definitely glad I stumbled upon this place and if I were ever to be back in downtown Traverse City, then I definitely know one spot that I will be visiting!

Come on… if you love beer, this is a must visit when in the Traverse city area in Michigan. 46 beers on tap and great bottle selection?!! Can’t beat that! Most were Michigan craft beers and well known brands. Reasonable pricing and pours. We sat in the bar area. I liked it’s simplicity. The dimmed lights and flat screen TVs were in ideal spots(clear screen). My husband got the Founders All Day $ 5.00IPA from Michigan 16 oz. and I got the 45 North Citra Hopped Cider 13oz $ 5.00. They serve food which we didn’t get, but would have loved to(great selection) if we didn’t have dinner plans. We were only there for the drinks. If you want to stop by for a beer run, they offer growler refills. I’ll get right to the point. A great neighborhood hangout and considered one of the best beer bars. LOVE this place!
