You know. I lived on base for two years before this place opened. It was awesome because back then I didn’t have a car so I couldn’t go out into the city to get the supplies I needed for my usual diet(being Asian and all). They had the things I needed and the lady and her daughter were always nice to me and chit chatted which I enjoyed. Though things were a little expensive, I appreciated the fact that it was there for me. I bought my rice cooker here!

This market is one of the few bastions of awesomeness on the base. Not to speak ill of the military installation, but it can be difficult for a business to inject personality into their space when all of the buildings are required to look the same. The lady who owns this store is wonderful– she frequently gives out small samples of candy to those who visit and make purchases. Best of all this store contains a wide variety of goods– a little bit of Japanese, a bit of Chinese, and some Korean to boot. There’s even a small space on the side reserved for petite bamboo plants and decorative dishware. The space itself is small– lend some patronage and perhaps they will be encouraged to supply more by way of refrigerated goods/produce, but the owner has made ample use of what’s available and the store remains stocked with everything from Pocky to chocolate covered macadamia nuts to rice crackers. Hands down this is the best place to go for cold Hawaiian Sun juice and UCC Kona Blend iced coffee in the near vicinity. The shrimp chips are calling.
