Mitchell Memorial Library

This library is a small library in my opinion. You can borrow books and DVDs. On Tuesdays at 10am they have story time. The first Thursday’s of the month, they have paws for reading. Check the website for special events times and days.

My love for books! Equals always looking for the best libraries. This one is located on Travis Air Force Base, right off the Main Street.
At first my oblivious self kept passing this place but finally I noticed, NOT to always follow Gps because it tends to be a bit scrambled on base.
Now entering this place, it is a decent size but not large by any means. Has computers to the right and behind that are two small rooms for kiddos. I believe they have story time on Tuesdays? But that may have only been during the summer. My kiddos went which I am not sure why because they were the oldest kiddos there by a couple of years.
Also what I liked about this place is that they have 4 shelves filled with games. So if you are bored, come with a friend and sit down and play a board game. Granted these games are old and donated and so there r pieces missing, but it sure is fun to play ones I have never played before.
Also always look for the small basket of freebie goodies. My kiddos got cute how to make balloon animal kits and another occasion they got cute finger puppets. Lol fun times…

Very nice, clean and organized library. The lady working is super nice and helpful. The website is helpful. You can extend your due date through the website and also hold books. Glad I went in and I will use this library more.

So being new to the base, I didn’t have the available funds to get internet at my dormitory. So I used to come here to use their facilities and I never had an issue with getting access to the internet. Being away from home for the first time, it was a godsend to have for new airmen who needed a way to connect with friends and family back home on the cheap.
There was a good amount of books to check out and while I was on my days off with nothing to do (not having a car and all), I’d just come to read, research stuff and just kill time. There’s plenty of things to do here and it’s clean. For those with cars, there’s a good amount of parking too so you don’t have to worry about finding a spot.

Great library on base! Spacious, large inventory, though I’ve found during some searches they don’t carry a lot of the recent bestsellers. No biggie, I go off base for those. Very peaceful and the staff is awesome.
Would be awesome if they got a self check-​out system. Noticed they still put cards in the sleeves of items when they’re checking out, but there are no dates stamped on them (like in the «old days» lol) that tell you when the items are due… so what’s the point of the cards? And if you lose a card, you have to pay a fee to replace them?!
