Love the Root Beer. The rest of the menu, not so much. My Clam Strip Platter was over fried in old oil and had a mildly unpleasant aftertaste. The fries were standard issue, and the cole slaw was in the process of turning to vinegar. The outdatedness of the drive in concept is cool, and certainly entertaining, but if the grub is just ordinary, the desire to stop in is reduced. Everyone else there seemed to be having a good lunch. Perhaps, I just made a bad choice and should try again with just a hot dog, rather than stretching its capabilities.

I’m a little disappointed, to be honest… I’ve lived around the corner from Stewart’s for a little more than five years, and finally decided to try it out today. The waitress was friendly, but not very good at math. $ 11.98 for fried raviolis and an ultimate grilled cheese, gave her $ 22, got $ 8.02 in return. I didn’t say anything, because I’m a generous tipper by nature… So instead of $ 5, she ended up with $ 7 as a tip. *shrug* As for the food… The fried raviolis were very chewy, and hard around the edges. Not gourmet, but I wasn’t expecting as much. Moving on to the«ultimate» grilled cheese… Now, when I order food, I expect it to be better than what I can prepare at home(which isn’t asking for much, as I’m not a great cook). It was NOT great, or even approaching good. This was mainly why I’m feeling let down. The bread looked toasted enough(literally, like it was put in a toaster), but the cheese was barely melted, and it was just… Sad. I’ve made better on my stovetop at home(and again, I’m NOT a great cook). I will give Stewart’s another try one day(I’m all about second chances), but I’ll have to order something different, because this was not a savory meal, even by my low standards.

This place has the best rootbeer on earth. They have amazing food that you can enjoy. The prices aren’t that high but they are just perfect! I come here with my family to get the«black cow» after dinner and it is delicious. You pull up to a drive through and turn on you lights and they come right out to you and serve you whatever you want. They put a tray on your window! This place is amazing!!!

Oh nostalgia, today you have led me astray. I had a hankering for a root beer float, and what pairs better with that than a chili dog? So I stopped in at this local Stewart’s, which has been here for over 50 years. To be fair to my parent’s good taste, they always took me to other locations. The hot dog itself had a good flavor, but was very small, maybe the next step up from a cocktail weenie. On first look I thought they got my order wrong, I didn’t see any chili. It was there but must have been applied with a butter knife, not even a teaspoons worth. The float was very good, but very expensive too. 2 dogs and a tiny float set me back $ 12. Service was very quick and very friendly, but I advise any others who had fond memories of this slice of Americana to look elsewhere.

Great burgers, hot dogs, ice cream, and, of course, root beer! Simple fare that simply tastes good, and reliably so. We’re never disappointed when we eat here. You can even sit in your car, and they’ll come out to you if your lights are on. Plus, they even take credit cards now!

A seasonal restaurant but it’s real good and the service is just as good as the food. I always order the clam strips with their root beer and I leave satisfied and in great spirits. Wish they were year ’round though.

Too bad this is only a seasonal restaurant open in the spring and summer. They have the old school drive up service where the waiters come out to your car and bring the food out to you. You can’t really go wrong with a hamburger or hot dog and fries from this place. I’ve never eaten anything I didn’t like from here. Also, the prices are amazing and for the most part, staff is great. Even on busy days I’ve always gotten my food brought to me in a timely manner.

My bi-annual healthy streak is coming to an end and I decided to do it style at Stewarts Drive in. Lets get one thing straight. Stewarts is not 5* gourmet food, its greasy salty and oh so delicous. I have been coming here since I was a kid and it really hasnt changed. 50’s style drive in where the food tray is placed on your window and you drink your Root Beer in a frosted icey cold mug. I started the meal with a yummy Jersey burger. A greasy burger with some delectable pork Roll(you jersey folks know what Im talking about) on top. Oh yeah. Is that noise my arteries begging for mercy? Followed it up with 2 Dogs with Sauerkraut and mustard. The buns are buttered and grilled and have that crunchy texture and the combination of the all beef hot dog mixed with the spicy mustard and sauerkraut is like a quartet singing in perfect harmony. Throw in some greasy fries and my healthy streak is officially over. Coming to Stewarts is something everyone should do once. Its a classic.
