I would give 2 stars even though they have good good & booze selection. I was there a night before thanksgiving & they were pretty much out of everything. I feel it was so unprofessional to not have half of the things in your menu especially when its such a big restaurant. Service was okay … Our server didn’t put any efforts to apologize or explain the problem. It was my first time there & i was very disappointed.

I had the ribs with dry rub. Being a recent transplant from South Carolina it wasn’t what I expected. Not saying they weren’t good, just not what I’m used to. They were very tender but the sweet rub just didn’t get it for me. Next time I’ll go for the bbq sauced ones. Girlfriend had the salmon with caper sauce and liked it a lot. Not gourmet food but I’ll go back. I’m giving three stars until I go back and try the other ribs. Oh yeah, BEST garlic mashed potatoes I’ve ever had.

Service was very poor. I ordered a chopped salad for lunch. It took 30 minutes to get it. The waitress never checked on me during the lunch. The bill came late and it took 15 minutes to get my change. The salad was good but pricey.

I’ve never been here for dinner so I can’t comment on anything but lunch. After our first visit for lunch, we knew this was a place we must go to again! So many delicious options to try on the menu. Lunch time is slow for business it seemed. But I am far from complaining. The food we had was very good. They have good specials that go on during the week for drinks! Definitely will be back soon!

This is establishment and ESPECIALLY the owner are absolutely horrendous. The wait staff is rude and not at all attentive and the owner actually had the nerve to come to the table and insult more than one patron. I wouldn’t recommend going here to ANYONE. It is no wonder that this place is going under.

The food was very average. With all the people in the basement, this place is a firetrap and I have no idea how the fire marshal allows it to operate.

Slow service on a Friday night. They did have a party of 60 people, but they had reservations and were already seated with their drinks when we arrived. Servers were noticeably hustling, there just weren’t enough of them. By the time we were waiting for our bill, there were open tables, but it still took 10 minutes to pay. As for the food, the buffalo shrimp was tasty, but a very small serving — not worth the $ 10. Goomba sandwich was very good. I’m not normally a dip your sandwich guy, but the marinara pushed this from good to very good. The burger was average. Hard to believe it’s allowed for a place with«Tavern» in the name, but they offer a quinoa salad. Beverage wise, I opted for the Shorts Good Humans on tap, which was excellent. Final word — it’s March Madness, but that just reveals that this really isn’t a good place to watch sports. There are many TV’s, but trying to watch the games they were too far away and I had to turn multiple directions to keep track of more than one game.

3 stars is A-OK. We went on Sunday afternoon. Kinda dead, which always scares me a bit. But we sat down. Waitress was very good. Food was good. Corned beef very tender. I’ve been here several times for drinks in the evening. I wish they would change the way is laid out though.

I go here often and used to be really quality food and service. Service is still great but it seems like the food has gone down hill recently. The sizzle used to be tender with quality meat. The last two times I or it the meat was over cooked and the zip sauce was overly salty. For dessert we got the crème burlee which is great but they didn’t give us any fruit with it like they used to… I don’t know if they are trying to cut costs but it’s getting harder and harder for me to go back…

Typical sports bar/lodge feel. The place is clean and the staff was really nice. They have poker tournaments there too, and those can be a lot of fun. Try the chili! Seriously, its disarmingly good. Like whoa. Also, they have Boston Coolers(a Vernor’s and vanilla ice cream float): a Michigan favorite.

Went here on the eve of Thanksgiving and it was a nice, memorable, fun time. Granted, we have been here on several — make that quite a few — occasions and I have had the pleasure of trying many of the dishes they offer. On this visit we had the chicken wings, and I have to preface that I travel often to and from the GTA(that’s Toronto and surrounding cities) and I am considerably spoiled when it comes to wings and food in general. Hey, there’s lots of choices out that way… excellent restaurants, you know. Anyway, that being said, the Tavern did not disappoint on the Wings. The Buffalo Style and the BBQ were, for the most part, plump and large. The sauces were tasty and the Buffalo was not at all spicy(for my taste at least) They were also nice and hot, which is always a good thing! Ordered it with the Ranch and no complaints there. Celery and carrots came with. I would definitely order the wings again. Thumbs up! We also ordered the Tenderloin Sandwich w/Zip sauce. Now I know I had that sandwich before and I could’ve sworn the Zip sauce was not just a fat-laden, colorless, greasy, doesn’t even resemble aus jus mess. I didn’t want to make a fuss, so I instead dipped the sandwich into the Saving Grace Ranch that came w/the wings. Nevertheless, the evening played out nicely… great band. Very slow getting started, but they cranked out some cool beats once they really got going later on in the evening. 70s mostly, with some 80s and 90s and 10s(that’s the 2010s) thrown in there for good measure. Boogie Dynomite… Check ‘em out some time. Might I add — Great beer specials too ;-) And the service was fast, efficient, friendly, and helpful, awesome! Enjoy!

What a great place to eat! Big beaver tavern is by far my favorite place to eat in metro Detroit, and my wife and I frequent there a few times a month at least. Their menu is extensive, from burgers and fries to classic Italian delights. They really know how to make a meal. Their customer service I have to rave about. I recently had an issue where my takeout order was incorrect. I phoned the manager once I realized and was assured that i would be compensated for my next meal. As I went in today to pickup an order, I was given a gift card to cover the mishap. What great customer service! Whether your in the mood for good Italian food, pub food, or some poker, and whether your going out alone or even taking clients there which I do frequently, big beaver tavern has it all. Keep up the good work BBT!

Been coming here for a number of years now, mainly to play poker but I have enjoyed a sizable portion of the food from their menu. The food is good all around! I think they do well with their chicken dishes. They have a good burger too although I enjoyed it more when they offered the Piedmontese beef. Had chicken primavera on this night and it was great! Can’t leave without mentioning my favorite group of dealers in Michigan. They’re the best!

I’m giving three stars for the burger and not the experience. The bar is average at best. It really lacks all sorts of personality, and I have watched games there during a Saturday afternoon and been there at night. The setup is just awkward, with booths outlining the walls and then random tables smushed together. There’s just nothing about the place that makes you want to come back — unless it’s a burger, Their burgers are pretty good. Bar burgers are some of the best burgers I have had, and BBT fits the bill. Still, some beef won’t get me to come back often to this place. It’s got no real identity, and if I’m going to go out with friends and spend money to drink, I’d at least like a place with some soul. You won’t find that here.

I have been here twice in the past two days. These were my first and second ever visits to the Big Beaver Tavern. Saturday night we just went for dinner and as soon as my boyfriend saw the Big Beaver Burger challenge he had to do it. There are TONS of pictures of successful challengers holding up the t-shirts that they give the victors. «It’s only a pound of beef,» I think were my boyfriend’s exact words. Needless to say he too was successful. I ordered the 4 Alarm Burger and added seasoned fries. Wow. Both were amazing. I ate every last scrap of food. The 4 Alarm Burger is a burger patty seasoned with Cajun seasonings topped with jalapenos, pepper jack and their habanero sauce. Seriously so DELISH. The perfect amount of spice. The Big Beaver Tavern also offers a charity poker room in the basement which was the main reason we went to dinner here. My boyfriend just wanted to check it out. Sunday, the very next day, he and his friend went back to play in the tournaments at 1, 4, AND7. YES, that’s right he played in all three. Haha. I and his friend’s girlfriend eventually met up there to wait for the guys and grabbed a couple of Bloody Mary’s. Our waitress was really great. She was VERY patient even after the guys had a little more than they should have and were being kind of obnoxious. Our waitress Saturday was great too! Overall great service, great food, great experience! I have no complaints and will definitely be back! :)

I’m totally a fan! I’ve been wanting to come here for ages and finally came here about a month ago. I liked it so much that I went back a few days later. The atmosphere is nice; sports barsy but not too sportsy(does that make sense?). The service was great both times and the food quality is great. Both times I ordered a burger — once the piedmontese and the other time the regular. Both cooked to order perfectly and fresh. Truthfully, it’s a Red Coat Tavern burger without the crowds, poor service and mud-butt afterward. The fries are crispy and above average as well. Great beer selection. Also, zip sauce on the side for the burgers? Shut up. That’s my favorite condiment in the world. The only downside is the charity poker gig in the basement. If you come in the evenings, expect a crowd of smokers at the front entrance and difficulty trying to navigate the parking lot with them ambling around. All in all, I’ll be back. Love a good burger.

If you are looking for a place for a large group to meet for happy hour, then this is it. There are plenty of large tables and booths. It does get extremely loud, but hey, it’s a sports bar, not an intimate bistro. I don’t believe they have a happy hour per se, but they do have a daily special which last all day. I was here on a Thursday when select pints were $ 3.00. Oberon and Two Hearted ale for just $ 3.00? Sign me up! I abstained from ordering any food because the bar food was your typical, wings, chicken fingers, potato skins, calamari, etc… and not cheap(at least for calamari). Probably all previously frozen foods. Our servers were awesome and attentive. We had a large group that kept coming and going, and they kept right up with us. We picked the right night though. I’d like to come back on Wednesday for $ 4.00 martinis even though Big Beaver Tavern isn’t really the girly, martini kind of place. In fact, there were so many SUVs parked outside I had trouble finding mine!
