One of the best breakfast places I’ve tried. Their attention to detail and use of fresh ingredients result in amazing dishes. The first time I tried it with my daughter on a Sunday morning, I returned the following day with my husband. I received very friendly service — the waitress remembered my order from the previous morning even thought I was new & they were very busy. I almost didn’t want to leave a review because I would rather it stay a hidden local gem!

Absolutely love this café! This is one of my favorite places for brunch with friends/family. In the past few months, I’ve introduced quite a few of my close friends to meet up here at try it out, and none have complained since. I’ve ordered the Triple Double skillet several times and am in love! Their chorizo Eggs Benedict is quite spicy, so if you’re not a huge spice fan, but want a little kick, as for the sauce on the side. I’ve also tried their Monte Cristo… I’m not usually a fan of sweet breakfasts, I really crave salty. I had a bit of a sweet tooth one time while eating here and the Monte Cristo fulfilled both my sweet/salty craving. Such an amazing meal! I’ve always wanted to try out their sandwiches and non-breakfast food items, but have failed at my attempts thus far. If I have a bit of a sweet-tooth craving, I tend to share a specialty pancake order with my Husband to still get both salty and sweet cravings out the way. I do recommend this place, but take note, it does get busy Sunday mornings after mass and they do close early as it is a breakfast-brunch-lunch place. The only reason I knocked a star off is because their bathroom, although beautiful and clean, is only one stall and with a busy place like this is, I could appreciate even just one more toilet. Overall, the aesthetic and delicious food choices(with a good portion at a good price) causes this place to be one of my favorite brunch places in the area.

This place has many tables, clean, and spacious. This is a newer restaurant opened in Troy. I was really excited when I found this restaurant via Unilocal. We came here on Sunday early morning and surprisingly there was no wait. We got seated right away. There were many staffs working in the restaurants, therefore, the service was fast and the waitress was really attentive. that is something I would not expect from a brunch place. we ordered chorizo benedict with fruit cup and the Tay’s skillet with wheat toast. The rancheros sauce is pretty spicy. so if you can’t any spicy food, do not order this dish. The benedict was topped with poached eggs. one of poached egg i got part of egg white was not completely cooked. When I first received chorizo benedict with fruit cup, I found a piece of raw meat(not sure if it was salmon or chicken) sitting on top of my fruit… I notified my waitress, and she immediately offered to get me a new fruit cup. However, I was disappointed and suspicious of food preparation process. The benedict was alright, didn’t think I had enough chorizo meat on each of the benedict. I would not recommend this dish. We asked for no onion for Tays skillet, when it first came out, there was onion all over the dish. after we notified our waitress, she offered to give us another skillet without onion. Its wheat toast was pretty good, it is different from other wheat toast other brunch places gave. It is really fresh and soft. Toward end of our meal, there were more people waiting for tablets. therefore, our waitress kept coming to our table to ask us if there anything we need. and she brought out the bill when I was half way done with my meal. Overall, I was impressed how fast and attentive the service is. But at the same time, with the experience I had dining there, i also felt there were areas this place can improve, such as cleanliness of food preparation and be more attentive on customer’s specific request.

I’ve been here twice now and enjoyed both experiences! Just went for brunch this morning. It was busy but we got a table pretty quick. I built my own omelette with spinach, mushrooms, green peppers, bacon and mozzarella cheese. The only thing I would change is having it cooked less — I’m not one for a runny omelette but I’d rather have slightly runny instead of overcooked. I ordered pancakes instead of toast and upgraded them to red velvet for $ 2.50 extra. Delicious! My husband ordered the two and two — 2 eggs, 2 pancakes. He got the traditional pancakes and they were fluffy and very tasty. For my first visit, I ordered one of their signature salads which had ample toppings. But after this time around, I would suggest skipping over the lunch part of the menu and focusing just on breakfast!

Unbelievable pancakes! Had the pecan banana. My wife had a Monte Cristo, which is hard to find. A lot of great choices on the menu. The best sign of quality are details like a nice bottle with warmed syrup. It’s a vinegar bottle so the syrup does spill out too fast. Excellent.

I’ve seen this place many times while passing through John R, and I loved how trendy and hipster it looked from the outside. I finally decided to give it a try with a couple of friends, and it was exactly what I expected. They have the type of crepes, pancakes, and waffles you see on Instagram. The food is beautifully decorated, and they have many sweets to choose from(banana and nutella, reeses’, etc.) The only downside is that the price is very expensive. I can even say that it is overpriced. The prices are similar to that of The Brunch House, but the amount of food they give you is much smaller. I think I paid over $ 13.00 for my cream cheese stuffed french toast, and I literally got one piece of french toast. It was delicious, but I can’t believe I paid that much for one piece of french toast decorated with whip cream.

Very clean, good service, had a Warehouse feel and cold atmosphere as well as internal temperature. Food was good, not excellent but good, pricey though. Ordered the California Chicken Omelet for a whopping $ 10 and the Nutella Banana Crepes for a reasonable $ 8.50. The crepes were delicious, the omelette was missing something, but not sure what. Coffee was better than most diners but not the best I’ve ever had. Overall a fairly average experience, wish I didn’t have to drop $ 25 on breakfast though.

Jonny Cakes is definitely the best new breakfast joint to hit suburbia! I want every dish on the menu. They all look(menu description) and visually look(yes, I stare at the plates at other tables) fantastic. I’ve had the chorizo benedict and the heuvos rancheros so far. The rancheros sauce is spicy! The side of pancakes with powdered sugar and whipped cream is a must! Jonny Cakes serves the syrup hot as well. The coffee is above average and the server never let my cup get under half full. There is a fancy fresh squeezed orange juice machine serving glasses of liquid gold. Don’t let this strip mall coney looking diner fool you. It is amazing!

Ordered a breakfast burrito. The wrap was mushy, the salsa was jarred, the eggs were flavorless, the hash browns were completely unseasoned, and the ‘fresh fruit’ was not remotely fresh and only melon. Very disappointing all around. Nothing objectionable, but nothing tasty.

Just ordered take out I got the huevos rancheros and it was DISGUSTING it cost 9.5 $ and I literally ate as much as I could and I had to throw a generous portion away it was the most disgusting thing I have ever tasted! I ordered a side of eggs that were cold and Texas fries that didn’t look like the picture but were still good! I have eaten here one other time and I got their French toast and a crêpe which was really good but I would highly not recommend the huevos rancheros

One of the better breakfast/lunch places in Troy. I always enjoy the omelettes and they also make a good burger. I tried the Harvest Salad as well today and the only thing that bummed me out was that the avocado was mostly grey, otherwise I would 5-star this place. It is always clean, the service is good, the portions are generous and the menu filled with good variety. I will definitely keep coming back.

First of all, I have no complaint about the food. It is of high quality. Prices a bit high. A pot of tea is $ 3.00. That seems a bit unrealistic. But, the reason for only three stars is the indifferent service. All three times that I have been there I have waited for what seemed an unreasonable period of time for menus, ordering off the menu, refills of coffee etc. Or totally forget to bring what was requested. This has all been times when it hasn’t been busy. The restaurant is clean, staff is pleasant if clueless and food is good. Service is the issue they need to work on.

Not your average strip mall diner. Was here for a late Saturday breakfast and absolutely loved the place. It is located in a strip mall and when you first arrive you may think this is just another coney island like-place, but as soon as you walk thru the doors you realize it is so much more. Inside is clean with a modern diner look, fresh paint cute art décor on the walls. They were busy but a table was quickly cleaned for us to sit down at. The menu selection is out-of this-world. Different types of pancakes, french toast, crepes, skillets, omelettes, eggs benny and so much more. Prices are all reasonable and portion sizes are generous. I had the chorizo eggs benedict which was fantastic(check out the photo). They put a spicy red sauce on top which is fabulous. Just the right amount of heat. The english muffin wasn’t soggy and the egg was cooked to perfection. The chorizo benny also has guacamole on it. So good. They are open for breakfast, brunch and lunch. They also have a wide variety of wraps, sandwiches and salads if you come here and are looking for more lunch like entrees. With it being so busy the service was good and we were able to get in and out. I would highly recommend this spot if you live close or you find yourself in the area for some shopping.

Great food! Love breakfast and this is a quick, enjoyable restaurant. They even sub the toast for pancakes which is awesome.

Came to this place a couple weeks ago I can’t believe this was our first time trying it. Wish I knew about this local breakfast place a long time ago. They actually serve real fresh warm, Maple syrup(I actually usually carry my own lol)!!! I got the chill fry which they make from scratch and it tasted just like I remembered it as one of my childhood favorites.(Today I ordered it again & had them mix a little bit of skillet potatoes yum!) Great quality meat, lean not fatty. They also serve fresh squeezed orange juice! We also shared the cinnamon French toast which was a home run… One of the best I’ve tasted! The service was fast and I didn’t feel like we were getting shoved out for the next person like most breakfast joints do. The owner Johnny came by to check on her table and was genuinely sweet nice and caring about what we thought about everything.

Found this place on Unilocal and it looked good. Came for breakfast this morning and were not disappointed! Everything was cooked well and portions are large. Will definitely come back to try more if the menu!

So I went back to try one of the skillets folks said good things about. I tried the«Chorizo» skillet. It was good albeit spicy. Not sure if you can order a half order but with the included pancakes or potatoes it’s more than enough food. No issues with the service. Food has come out fast everytime I visited. Now two negatives I learned from today’s visit… Initially I was going to order the Greek omelette, but found they don’t serve it with tzatziki sauce(maybe bcz the place is Chaldean owned?)! Wha!?! This would be the only place that’s had a Greek omelette on the menu and no Tzatziki sauce. Big let down. Also, they don’t have Egg Beaters as an option; not even as for a upcharge! In Troy! Whaaa. I have mixed feelings abt this place…

I was pretty excited when I found this place. The look and feel was on point, the service was great but the food fell flat for me, too bland and and a bit over priced for the experience but I’ll probably give it another shot so stay tuned.

Substitute fluffy pancakes with warm maple syrup for toast… Then order extra toast so you can have it ALL! Best news: It’s right by my house and I didn’t need to wait for an hour for a perfect brunch on a Saturday morning. That will probably change as people discover it. I ordered the Mexican omelette and my friend ordered the chorizo skillet. I was super happy that when I ordered extra avocado, I got a very large portion of avocado all over my omelette(unlike most stingy places!) Corn, tomatoes, jalapenos, cheese and chorizo… yum. We both received huge, steaming and beautiful platters of breakfast food with half left over for tomorrow morning. Everything was well prepared, service was great, and I found a new breakfast spot. If this place DOES become a regular, I’ll upgrade to 5 stars… but sometimes you have to hold back to see if it’s a fast affair or has staying power. I’m definitely crushing on Jonny Cakes today.

If you close your eyes and imagine what a new brunch restaurant in Troy looks like, odds are you’ll visualize something akin to Jonny Cake’s. Spotless interior, exposed ceiling, fresh paint, a few framed pictures and of course it’s in a strip mall. But this is far from your average diner in the suburbs. This place got game! I just stumbled out after a terrific breakfast here and I’m particularly impressed with their execution of an extensive menu that far exceeds many others around town. I’m more of a slut for savory but the sweet peeps out here will flip for all the tasty treats they have jumpin off(Reese’s peanut butter pancakes with chocolate syrup, thank you sir may I please have another??). For $ 10, my omelette was borderline oversized in all the right ways with a dominant amount of ingredients of which they had a nice selection to choose from. You can pick up to four of them before making the serious life decision of what cheese to go with. One sticking point is that they unfortunately serve those stringy type of hash browns. Are those ever any good? Give this homeboy home fries please… At 11 A.M. on a Sunday, there was a nice crowd but our friendly hostess greeted us immediately upon arrival and promptly found us an open table. Our server was short on the small talk but fast with the service, refills and smiles. I truly had a great breakfast here and I’m bringing my sweet tooth with me on my next visit which will be in the very near future.
