Steak salad is spicy and delicious. Top tacos are the Korean, tempura shrimp and vindaloo. Try the cucumber skinny or watermelon mint margs for something fun. Stick with the Coin Style for something more traditional. Fun environment, large patio and a game room to boot!

Worst service I’ve ever had! Food is completely over rated and simple. I’ve had better service and food at Del Taco! It’s like the place is run by middle school kids!!! Also, asked for«limes» and the guy gave us a serving plate with one fricken lime. Might as well just tossed it at us from the bar!

These two stars are for the drinks– the bar tender was nice, drinks were tall and delicious. The food was nicely presented, but absolutely flavorless. The Al Pastor was nothing like what you’d expect from a genuine taco place, the rest of the meats had sauce but no punch. They also have random«world» tacos with Indian or Italian flavorings, but again, the flavor was so lacking you couldn’t tell the difference between any of our 6 tacos. Service was decent. But I felt icky the rest of the night, not a quality place.

Family and I were on a day trip to the snow in Tahoe and stopped here for lunch before hitting the slopes. The restaurant looked pretty modern and nice on the outside and not too shabby on the inside. As we entered there was 15 or so people at the bar and almost nobody there eating(we should’ve paid attention to that warning sign). The staff greeted us fine and were decently welcoming but they seemed a bit shocked to get a party of our size(about 9 of us). The server was nice and took our order just fine. The food arrived and a lot of it didn’t look fresh at all… pulled out of a refrigerator and warmed up perhaps? The food quality and taste were lacking for sure and we would never go back unless they announced some real changes with food quality. Oh and the food was pricey for Mexican too. Hopefully this review will inspire management to make some changes because the place has potential, maybe it just survives on us tourists passing through and the locals drinking there?

After a day on the slopes, we were all craving Mexican food in Truckee and Marg’s Taco Bistro was an inviting spot near all the local artist shops. We ordered a salsa sampler to start and I really liked the variety of tacos available. I chose the caprese and lamb tacos which turned out to be great choices. Tasty sauces, fresh ingredients, tasted as good as they looked. My friends enjoyed the chicken tacos and steak salad. Extra napkins were definitely necessary, everything was juicy and flavorful. The lighting inside was a bit dim, but the creative artwork on the walls and the unusual light fixtures added to the relaxing, fun vibe. The outdoor patio looked perfect for a summer day. My favorite items on the menu had to be the margaritas and churros! We took advantage of the check-in for a free dessert :) Great option for downtown Truckee!

We had lunch here with another family and 5 out of 7 of us ended up with food poisoning. We all felt a little sick afterwards and 5 of us had to be near a bathroom the rest of the day. It even kept us running to the toilet most of the night. I called the restaurant to report this and the manager said he will look into it.

The margaritas were great, the guacamole was decent, and the complimentary flour tortillas were nice. The rest, not so much. The tacos were served cold, and the Al Pastor might have been the worst I’ve ever had. The phở, definitely the worst I’ve ever had(how hard can it be to make Phở?) I’d definitely recommend not eating here… drinking, maybe.

Excellent and innovative tacos and even better margaritas! Our family of four came with another family, and everyone left happy. Soup was just the right temperature and salmon was cooked perfectly. Overall it was delicious!

1. You have to pay 6 fricken dollars for chips and salsa. When our order of 6 tacos took over 30 min to come out, they gave us two flour tortillas and a tbsp. Of pico de gaillo. Just give me chips!!! 2. The tacos were just ok. The meats lacked flavor and the tacos were stuffed with so many different random things. Also, no salsa was given to add flavor to the tacos! 3. The service was ok, at no fault of the servers. They do not have enough staff to properly manage busy days. 4. You get free dessert with a Unilocal checkin, we got the churros which were just ok. Overall, this place has WAY too many high star reviews. If you like good Mexican food, don’t come here. That atmosphere was loud but it was very busy.

My husband and I brought two of our close friend’s to Marg’s for dinner after a day of skiing and we had a great experience. We were seated without delay on a Saturday night on a holiday weekend. The service was pleasant, attentive but not intrusive. The margaritas hit the spot! The flour tortillas were warm and enjoyable. The Taquitos were crispy and tasty as was the steak quesadilla. The others had various tacos… and the conversation died down while everyone focused on the food. After dinner, we had another margarita ;-) I would’ve given 5 stars but my husband commented that his pastor taco was a little fatty.

Vindaloo taco and margaritas are the only redeeming things about this spot. Everything else including the service and atmosphere is almost insufferably sub-par. Chips and salsa – meh! Carne asada– yuk Fish tacos — cold

Service was pretty terrible. Came in for lunch and the wait was about 20 minutes. It seemed a bit odd because about a quarter of the tables were empty. However this must have been a staffing issue. My biggest complaint is that it took them over an hour to finally serve us. Also the 3 people that ordered phở got theirs about 15 minutes before the two that ordered tacos. When they finally served the tacos they were not very hot. The wait staff were all nice and apologetic. There seemed to be a kitchen issue. The food was okay. I ordered the banh mi, tempura shrimp, and lamb tacos. One in out party ordered the Korean pork. It was basically all hoisin sauce. Not great. The best part was probably the margaritas. I would probably not return to this place. Definitely wouldn’t recommend it for anyone in any sort of time crunch

I’ve eaten here a lot given the proximity to the house I’m renovating and its current lack of a functional kitchen. Thus, I have eaten everything on the menu and the food is great for brunch, lunch, and dinner with one of the most affordable price: quality ratio I have found in North Lake. The staff is always friendly and accommodating, often welcoming me by name. They seem to have low turn over so I see a lot of the same friendly faces which includes Doug, their fantastic GM. The atmosphere is cool and relaxed and the décor fits the vibe. Recently, they have expanded into the old offices next door and outward toward the street with their inviting patio. Both additions give them plenty of extra space to accommodate more guests inside and out –which is a good thing because they can get really busy. You can’t go wrong splitting a Taco Barco, a six taco platter with a side of rice and beans for $ 22! Add a Pacifico(which they have on draft) or a house-made margarita(i.e. not from a mix) and it is one of the few places in town where you can get a great meal, in a cool atmosphere, for $ 20 with tip. One of the best kept secrets in town is their brunch menu. When Marty’s or Jax are on a one-hour wait you can often be seated immediately at Marg’s who are serving both Mexican and traditional breakfast options. You can find me at the bar after most days on the mountain bike or snowboard. Come in and say hello.

Stopped in here last night for a solo dinner. It wasn’t busy so I just walked up to the bar to grab a seat there. The whole menu looked great, but as just a single person I kept it to an appetizer and a main. For the app, I had the chips and tres salsas(tomatillo, fire roasted, and pineapple). The waiter also gave me a sample of their super hot sauce which was great but woah! For the main I had a 3 taco plate. I tried the philly steak, the shrimp taco, and the vandaloo(sp?). All 3 were unique and delicious! I’m lactose intolerant and they were very good about making sure to remove any cheese/dairy products. The barkeeper/waiter Billy was just awesome. We chatted the whole evening and he gave me some great tips for living up in Tahoe Donner(where I just bought a place). Super friendly! I’ll definitely be back here!

My husband and I were perusing downtown Truckee for someplace new. We found a Mexican place that looked pretty busy, albeit kind of sketchy. We were treated at the door by a pit bull, the nicest thing about the place. We decided to keep perusing. Found Marg’s Bistro and Phở. Phở! The angels sang! We were promptly seated and our waitress was fantastic. I looked at the menu and asked if phở was on a different menu. She said phở wasn’t going to be offered until November 8th. Sad face! No chips but really warm and soft tortillas with salsa were offered. I ordered the banh mi taco(I was getting Vietnamese dammit!) and a lamb taco. Both were unbelievable. The meat was so tender and flavorful. The sauces were perfect. My husband had halibut tacos and raved about them too. The service was great, I’m sorry I don’t remember the servers name. We are coming back for Phở! I may change my review to 5 stars.

What a fun place! Mexican, but with a twist! I had a mahi mahi taco AND a chicken vindaloo taco — Whaat? Delish! Excellent service, extremely fast, almost as if the kitchen could hear me ordering. The chips and guacamole were excellent. Taking the churros to go. I think these will make a great snack back at the hotel. Our server was Becks, and she facilitated the appropriate packaging of all our goods at the end. Definitely returning here on a future trip. The food hit the spot after an active day outdoors.

Margs. GREAT for KETO dieters. Honestly, I wasn’t sure about a new Mexican place in town, especially one so shiny and with a So-Cal flare, but Margs is a great spot that has risen up to please the Truckee residents, and visitors. The Margarita menu is diverse, with everything from Cadillac to Vanilla Margaritas, to everything in between. Food comes with homemade flour tortillas(glutards beware!) and pico de gallo. Do yourself a favor and try the salsa sampler(come hungry) and make sure you get the mango ghost pepper salsa– it’s flavorful but not severely spicy. Probably my favorite. The tacos are delicious, except the Vindaloo one, which just isn’t as beautiful as the Banh Mi, the Philly Cheese steak or the Lamb-based one. Tacos come standard on flour, but if you prefer corn, it’s available and BONUS for the Keto folk– lettuce wraps abound! Yes! Extra bonus: the margaritas are strong, but not see-through, so you won’t black out after one. I can’t promise anything about having 2, however…

Having lived 30 miles north of the Mexican border, I could probably go the rest of my life without Mexican food. But this was recommended so we thought we’d give it a try. Wow, so un-Mexican, Mexican food. Taco, yes! But filled with Chicken Vindaloo, Korean Pork, Tempura Shrimp… all out of this world. Very tasty(could have used just a little more sauce… that’s where the flavor is). Two-tacos(miix and match) served with rice and beans for only $ 11.95. Other items on menu made it hard to pick. You could also have your taco served on a lettuce leaf instead of corn or flour tortilla. Typical tourist wine prices. $ 9 to 15 by the glass. Service, although friendly, extremely slow, but it alone would not keep me form going back on my next trip to Truckee. So if you want tacos with a «twist,» order your drink and sit back and relax. your food will get to you. Sign in with Unilocal and receive a free dessert. We shared a Churro with chocolate dipping sauce. They served 6 mini churros… great dessert to share.

Wish I could give this place 5⁄5 stars but due some key misses I can’t. 1) no silverware. Waited for some as I drooled over my food waiting to dive in. 2) slow slow slow on chip refills. We ordered the salsa trio and guac that should be a minimum of two baskets for four people. Waited a long time for a second basket. The third basket we requested never came. 3) drink refills took forever! And then the second margarita was way sweeter than the first. Not consistent. Ok now on to the good stuff 1) Lori and Melissa our servers had great personalities 2) love the décor of the place 3) skinny cucumber margarita(the first one) 5⁄5 4) chips and trio salsa delicious. Love the spice of the ghost mango salsa. Chips nice crisp perfectly thick and perfectly salted. 5⁄5 5) guacamole 4⁄5 just missing a little more spice but it was great. I would get it again. 6) «set up» as they call it. Tortillas… The best I have ever had 5+/5 7) love that they offer tacos wrapped in lettuce! Allowed me to eat chips! 8) lamb taco wrapped in lettuce 5⁄5 9) dorado mahi mahi taco wrapped in lettuce 5⁄5. Great place to eat. Great place to drink. Few fixes and next time I hope to give them the extra star they missed.
