My wife, daughter and I decided to try this pizza joint based on some of the picture we saw here on Unilocal while we were staying Northstar. We sat outside because it was summer time, the seating is nice mostly shades with good view of the skating rink. We started with the parmesan garlic fries, they were very good not overly garlicky but just enough. They came with katsup, I would of liked some ranch but the server was gone before I could ask for some. For our pizza we ordered a large half Big Mountain half BBQ chicken and bacon. I can only speak for the Big mountain because that is all I ate and it was amazing. My wife was raving about the BBQ side while we were eating it so I’d say it was just as good. One of the things we were a little disappointed with was the Kids menu Mac n cheese. This may just be us but it was a little too fancy for a kids menu item. I think it was made with Penne noodles and Gouda cheese. We It was just a bit more of an adult item, our daughter didn’t really like it, I tried it and it wasn’t bad. Overall service could of been a little better but it was a super slow period probably between shifts or something. We will more than likely be back at some point.

Rubicon Pizza tries to establish itself as a unique artisan pizza restaurant. While it is good pizza, especially if one likes a thin-crusted pie, it isn’t too unique or outstanding. The Hawaiian pizza has onions, which is a nice twist, and the sausage has a great flavor, as does the pepperoni. But this isn’t a pizza that will stick in the memory.

Holy Thai-pizza Batman! I would visit Rubicon again just for that Thai chicken curry pizza. A really nice mixture of flavors with a bit of spice kick. We did the pizza as a 50⁄50 with the rubicon pizza which was nice although I found it not as exciting as the Thai pizza. We also got the hummus, feta and olives appetizer, it was pretty tasty although the hummus was quite orange which was slightly off putting! Plus we got some steamed broccoli for the little one, they were actually steamed really well with being soft but still with a nice solid bite. Overall solid resort restaurant and that Thai pizza… so good.

It’s pretty damn good. For appetizers, we had wings and artichoke dip. Since I’m an avid wing eater, I was skeptical about the breaded wings, but they were decent and the artichoke dip was the bomb. For dinner, we had the Rubicon pizza and Mediterranean pizza which were both pretty effing tasty. I’d definitely come back to this place to eat. Onnnne thing, though. When we got the bill, they added an extra resort fee. It was about $ 15 extra and that wasn’t cool, so I took away a star from my initial review. Just be aware, and I’m guessing every place in this area does that.

TLDR: Rubicon is a decent,(relatively) affordable Northstar Village restaurant option, which is family friendly. Be sure to make reservations or order take out because it gets crowded early. — — — -Dinner Review — — — - Rubicon is a pizzeria/brewery in the center of the Northstar Village, and even at 5:30PM this place is buzzing. Be sure to order or call ahead because the wait for 6 was almost an hour — I noticed alot of people were smart and ordered pick-up! The food is decent, filling, and a nice place to go after a day of snowboarding — but it’s not spectacular. My favorite pizza place in the area is Mofo’s — their pizza crust is to die for, they have generous toppings, a self-serve salad bar, and incredible ice cream. 3.5STARS — Above average, filling food, and super friendly service — GARLICCHIPS — 4STARS: Unlike what this name indicates, this is NOT garlic chips. «Garlic Chips» at Rubicon is a buttery, cheesy, garlicky thin-crust pizza served with a side of liquidy ranch. This was a surprisingly large portion and dangerously addictive — a great way to start if you have a group of 4 or more. — MOUNTAINPIZZA — 3.5STARS: Nice and meaty thin crust pizza; it was pretty good but I prefer mofos chewy, fluffier crust — KALESALAD(SPECIAL) — 4STARS: What a ridiculously enormous and refreshing kale salad, served with mandarin oranges, beets, goat cheese, croutons… Last week they downsized the salads but it’s still good. — BBQ Chicken and bacon(3STARS) — very average. For Northstar dining, this is a decent casual eatery to bring your family, and unlike my last visit, I really appreciated the prompt and friendly service.

My boyfriend & I recently ate here Thursday evening. We live in Kings beach but have never gone there before so we decided to try it. I’m a very picky eater. That being said, the pizza was very tasty. We did find a hair on it though. If that didn’t happen then everything would of been fine. We will most likely go back

Loved this place! The curry pizza was beyond legit. Fun and family friendly as well! Wish I could remember the servers name because he was a doll. Thank you!

I was pleasantly surprised by Rubicon pizza and I’m one of those pizza critics who grew up a little too close to New York City. We had the Mediterranean. For a pie chock full of artichoke hearts, sundried tomatoes, olives, and goat cheese, Rubicon managed to respect the essential proportions of mozzarella, red sauce and thin crunchy crust that mark the difference between mediocre pizza and excellent pizza. Well done Rubicon I will eat you again. The chicken wings were also amazingly scrumptious so have some of those too.

Hit the spot. Friendly service. Worth the 30 minute wait. We tried a variety of things and we were all pleased. And they had a great selection of beer! Perfect location next to the ice skating rink. Will surely go back!

Fairly standard pizza, it’s reasonably good but nothing special. Had high hopes for the Thai Curry Pizza, but they no longer can make it vegetarian :( As a redeeming quality, their hot chocolate is dreamy :)

The pizza here is really good. Not gourmet but really good. It is next to the ice skating plaza so really friendly for kids. They have a good selection of craft beer. Good place to stop in after a day on the slopes

Ordered the Thai pizza(not very good), marguerite pizza(yummy), Mac n cheese(very heavy but good), spaghetti bolognese(yummy). Loved that they brought puzzles for my kids to play with at the table even if my germaphobia radars were going off! Well, my kids didn’t mind and they were quiet so it was win-win.

Came here during lunch time after my friends did a first round or morning boarding. I didn’t eat but I had a hot cocoa with whipped cream, which tasted like instant hot cocoa but it’s okay since I was cold. My friends had the ham and Gouda pasta which lacked flavor, so we added a bunch of Tabasco sauce, Parmesan and chili flakes lol. The Gouda on the pasta was delicious though. My boyfriend had the chicken, onion, bacon pizza which wasn’t bad but the ranch enhanced the taste much more. My other friend had the 12 pieces wings and apple and pecan salad. The wings were a tad bit spicy, but with ranch it was better. Definitely should’ve opted to eating here instead of Tavern. The waiter serving up on a Sunday noon was super friendly, attentive and providing excellent service!

We have come here a few time this season and they never cease to impress. The service is solid. Kyle R. has been our server most of our visits and he is not only fun with the kids but hustles to help you feel welcome. Although our first order was slightly messed up he still remembers it a month later and we laughed it off(and they took care of us when it was so that’s more of a plus than a minus for him/them) and it’s all good). I like how they have a wine and beer bar right at the entrance(we liked the Rutherford Ranch Merlot) and a special pizza of the week that is always good. The kids menu is strong and their house rootbeer is yummy. They also have great pasta and most importantly are right in the village and get you warm from the cold. Def go for great selection, service and food. If you go during a peak time, they will text and call you when your table is ready… this way you can chill(literally haha) in the village more. :)

Sooo we tried to order take out on Saturday because they were very busy. After waiting in line for about 10 minutes, I was told by the hostess that we had to order take out at the packed bar. I totally understand it was busy, but it felt like we were an inconvenience, so we left. One recommendation that they should consider is a take out window or another option for take out rather than the bar. However, came back on Sunday to give it a try and the pizza was really good and the gorgonzola ranch with the chicken wings was very tasty. I would totally come back again.

Excellent. Came here using the IMLT voucher and to my surprise this was excellent. Firstly service was great. Big Jim was very attentive. Listened well and the pizza was served as requested. Margarita pizza was excellent. Loved how the basil was in curly strips. Crust perfect. Mediterranean pizza had an abundance olives, feta, sundries tomatoes, artichokes. Pesto chicken was the pizza of the week. Amazing taste. Grilled onions very flavorful. Perfect pesto. Salad: apple pecan. Fresh crispy and the pecans toasted to perfection. Calamari was a bit crisp so next time less time in the fryer. Wine list was approved by our head ref. the manager Corissa checked on our table to see how we enjoyed. Great experience!

You can trust this review… it is based on several dining experiences — both lunch and dinner over the course of our vacation in Lake Tahoe. This place is excellent. We were always seated(either inside or outside) with no wait, even when they were obviously pretty busy. The servers were consistently friendly and efficient. They really did well with our kids(who love to talk) and went the extra mile to make sure they too had a good dining experience. They have board games, puzzles, etc. that they leave at your table for the kids to play with. The kitchen can be a bit slow, but the servers always kept us updated and did their best. Now…the food… this was some of the best spaghetti I have had in my life. I have no idea what they do to it, but I will never be able to eat spaghetti again(and enjoy it). I ordered it every time we dined at Rubicon. We also tried a variety of other items, all of which we equally as good. The garlic bread(which is free with a Unilocal check-in) was excellent too. The chocolate chip cookie — awesome! The prices are a bit high, but certainly on par with other eateries in the area. Overall, I can’t come up with anything negative to say about this place. We enjoyed all of our experiences with the food, staff and restaurant. Carissa(managing partner) stopped by and talked with us a couple of times, super nice and made sure that we had a great experience. Give this place a try!

Beer was good, pizza was good and calamari was good — in that order :-) Nothing better than a cold beer and some pizza after a long MTB ride and I am not talking downhill ing, where you ride the lift up and just hold on for the ride down :-) Location is great and they share a restroom with NorthStar so its right outside and down a hall way. Service was good, even though they were showing gold on all the TV channels. I would go again, but be warned the buffalo pizza is SPICY!

Everything in this place needs more salt. Ordered two medium pizzas and four«special» root beers, but the pizza was mediocre and the root beers didn’t taste spectacular. Checked in for free garlic fries, and even the garlic fries were in serious need of salt. Two stars for okay service, managing to fill me up, and free refills on the«special root beers».
