Did a great job on my boots! Excellent service and they will get your boots right! They took the time to work the liners and shells to get the foot right. They committed to keep working on them until perfect.

The guys at Start Haus are great. Not only does everyone locally talk about it being the place to go, they deliver. I have brought skis in to get mounted and remounted and they always take care of things.

Hands done — the BEST place to buy boots and/​or get your boots fitted. Our family covers the spectrum of ski levels, and the fitters fixed/​recommend the perfect boot for each of us.

I went in with limited expectations — just make my boots tolerable for another year of skiing. My feet are difficult to say the least, and I have always had pain while skiing. I have problem areas on the top, back, and sides. In addition, I wear arch supports and my feet are narrow. I have now been out on the slopes twice with my boots that were modified at Start Haus. I do not even want to take the boots off at the end of the day.
I drove up form the Sacramento area and I am glad I made the drive. I drove by the shop at first since it is small and part of a strip mall. From the outside, I was wondering what I was getting into. Now, I’m a lifer. I would never go anywhere else.
Be prepared to spend some time there. They really do not want you to leave until everything is just right.
In conclusion, great place!

I run ski boots a size or two too small, on purpose. Doug axed the right questions, and promised he isn’t Jesus. The real deal if you ask me. Took time, measuring and listened.

Just wanted to say thanks for the amazing tuneup on my Volkl Slalom skis. I have used the Start Haus for years to do my stone grinding and maintenance on my skis. They just keep getting better and better.
For this go around I asked for the new ski prep where they shape the top sheet and side wall, stone grind and set bevels. They also wax and brush the skis out so I can begin working wax into the skis.
The work they perform exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend this shop.

I have been skiing since I was two years old and have traveled extensively around the world to ski. This is by far the best store I have every heard of or come across for fitting ski boots. Jason spent an unbelievable amount of time with me making sure I got the perfect boot and then stretched and worked on them to ensure a snug and comfortable fit. He, along with the rest of the staff, were extremely friendly and professional.
HIGHLY recommend going here for ski boots, even if you need to drive across California to do so. Thank you!

Do any research on the best ski shops and boot fitters in the US and Start Haus is on the list, if not at the top. So, when I finally made the decision to invest in some high quality boots for the Mrs and me, I called a month in advance to make the reservation.
The snow situation in Tahoe is horrible and if it weren’t for this appointment I might have cancelled our trip and gone to Utah or Colorado. I am glad I didn’t. Brady and Mike were waiting for us when we showed up and got to work finding out what kind of skiers we are, where we ski, how many days per year, and what goals we have. With that information and a bunch of measurements we started trying on boots. After about two hours, a little bit of pain, and a lot of fun we both walked out with new boots and new friends in Truckee.
The next day we skied at Alpine Meadows. The Mrs’s new boots were perfect and she couldn’t believe what a difference a good boot makes in ones ski day. «So THIS is what skiing is supposed to feel like!» Mine needed a little extra work to get to that point so

I came here after hearing all my favorite Tahoe ski bums rave about their talented staff and custom boots. Even with my high expectations, I was still blown away by their expertise and service. If you are interested in custom boot fitting be prepared to spend 3 hours there, but it’s worth every minute!
I purchased new boots, custom boot liners and footbeds for my downhill and AT setups. Thanks to their tinkering and attention to detail, my feet are happy from first chair to last call.

I was looking for a new pair of skis this year and Start Haus did a great job. The staff there are all very friendly and extremely knowledgable! After a short discussion of how and where I ski, the staff found me a pair of Völkl Kinks, and they were by far the best skis that I have skied on. All in all, I would go back for any of my equipment needs! Thanks guys!
