Had dinner at the bar. Bartenders were on point. Drinks were good. Pickled veggies app was very good. Rib eye was tasty, cooked exactly as ordered, nice char, average steak sauce. Cauliflower side was underwhelming. Overall good meal, would recommend and would eat here again.

We had dinner here last night. Great service, fabulous cocktails, and the most amazing dinner ever. As «foodies» from the Bay Area” it’s so refreshing to eat at a restaurant careful about sourcing local, natural and organic ingredients and meticulous about serving delicious food. Our new staple when we visit!

Dinner for 8(3 adults, 5 kids). Lovely surroundings. Service was slow. Seated at our table 20 minutes after our reservation and place was not full. Took over an hour to get kids food. Server wasn’t attentive, drinks and water were constantly empty, bread requested and took over 20 minutes to get when we sat down. Food was nice. Don’t order the butter lettuce salad as all you literally get is a butter lettuce! Not great. Could be so much better.

We usually hunker down in the cabin for dinner after a day of skiing but this past Saturday we decided to mix it up and go out for dinner with a couple of friends. It was a busy night on a holiday weekend and the bar tender made a point of coming out from behind the bar to make sure we got an order in — points for service right off the bat. In spite of the crowd we got seated a few mins earlier than our reservation. The wait staff were extremely knowledgeable and fun — our waiter Dan had some particularly detailed descriptions about the dishes which helped narrow things down at decision making time. We shared dishes so I was able to sample a lot. White Bean soup — was broth based(not creamy) — delish. The chicken and the pork chop from the grill were both brined so were moist and served with one simple sauce on the side. The brussel sprouts had pomegranate seed and some hints of asian flavors. The beet and burrata salad had just the right amount of dressing and salt. For dessert the banan bread with salted caramel ice cream was decadent. The only thing I would give a mediocre score to was the blondie dessert… somehow it just was not as interesting as the surprisingly awesome banana bread. All in all we had a great evening — nice people… good ambiance… excellent wine and beer selection. We will definitely be back.

My wife & I had dinner there last night for Valentine’s Day. Outstanding! We were early for the reservations, so sat at the bar for a drink. Chatted with some real locals(we’re ‘quasi’ locals, with a vacation house in town), while Ryan made us specialty drinks … a small batch local gin martini for me, and and bourbon and bacon concoction for her. Both just perfect! After moving to a table by the window, we had the charcuterie and cheese plate, followed by and excellent steak. The service was excellent — attentive, quick, yet not pushy. We really enjoyed the evening, and will be back … probably for drinks and dinner at the bar!

Overrated by those who gave 4 or 5 stars. Looks all steak house chic and rustic, I didn’t care. Alls I wanted was a good meal. PORKBELLY. I’m so an expert on this. Part crisp, part soft meat and part half way cooked fat blubber. I got the crib, barely got the middle soft meat and the blubber was not cooked enough. ICEBURGWEDGE W/BACON, TOMATOANDBLUECHEESEDRESSING. 1⁄3 of the success of this 20th century wedge salad is the blue cheese dressing that fell majorly flat and watery. Hum, perplexed. BUTTERLETTUCE, PARMESAN, ANDGREENGODESSDRESSING. Why watery pale colored dressing? wah! I’m so sad. I want thick chunky green goddess with tons of herbs that make it complex and weighty. RIBEYE — cooked to our specifications. Nice meat flavor. Special steak sauce okay. BUFFALOFLANKSTEAK — rare and tough and wrought with pepper and that same damn just okay steak sauce on the side. DESSERTSWEREGOOD, BUTLOOKEDLIKEPOOP. Sorry! Nice people, great service, just lacking in the food area. I do want you to know everything we got was super fresh, but not prepared or executed to perfecting. OHJUSTONEMORETHING… they charge full price for 4oz of wine. Most restaurants will serve 6−8oz.

Huge mistake coming here! It literally took an hour to get my burger & about 20 mins to bring out a green salad… That’s insane If you’re looking for service or want to eat in a timely manner this is not the restaurant you want to go to

Just had an amazing bistro style dinner at this sophisticated gem of a restaurant. I am new to Truckee and am visiting my beau and was pleasantly surprised by the menu choices, outstanding wine list(especially the by the glass selections), individual menu executions, and attentive but not intrusive service by our waiter, Juan. I have recently retired and relocated to the Sacramento area from Palo Alto and this spot would be a top choice anywhere on the Peninsula. The Raclette appetizer was a modern twist on the classic Swiss dish and was a smart way to give a little taste of a Swiss Alpine experience without overfilling one for the yummy steaks to come. My companion had the ribeye and I had the New York and both were perfectly cooked and the presentations were spot on. We shared a side and where else would one get creamed Swiss Chard which was obviously fresh and local? Delish! There was even room for desert and we shared a banana nut bread with caramel salted vanilla ice cream. This had it all; the salted warm caramel topping did not overwhelm the moist banana nut flavor and the texture was a perfect match to the ice cream. All in all, a romantic and memorable evening!

This was a really good meal. Quite the little gem in Truckee. Great Brussels sprouts app; great pork chop; great burgers; great carrots. Only gripe was the wines by the glass left a bit to be desired and the salads lacked seasoning. But it’s definitely 4.5*, rounded up to 5* for location, ambience and how family friendly it was.

Here again. I love this place, and now that have Über it’s really more awesome. I can enjoy the beer without the worries. They have an excellent craft beer selection that also includes a personal favorite of mine, Calico by Ballast Point. The food is always outstanding although it should be noted that this is a $$$ place. The lowest price meal on the menu is tge cheeseburger at 16.00…but soooooo worth it.

My wife and I had a great dinner last night. All of the food is solid and the drinks are great too. It was nice that we went in after the big holiday weekend, but the staff is friendly and helpful and the setting is excellent.

Why is this dive still open? Don’t waste your $ or your time here, you are sure to be disappointed AND embarrassed if you are w a group. The twerp-jerk owner can’t keep his insulting pie-hole shut & the service is so slow and unprofessional that we walked out after waiting 50 minutes for a tasteless, overpriced appetizer. There’s a desperate vibe in the air…

In searching for a good steak, we came across this place… and it did not disappoint. We ordered the 10oz Ribeye and the 8oz New York steak. Both were cooked to perfection and seasoned just right… No need for their homemade steak sauce, that comes with the steak, on the side. Equally impressive was their simply grilled half-onion as a side to the beef. It was topped off with the Tavern Bar dessert with whipped chocolate cream. Nice place… comfy atmosphere and good people.

Place is upstairs, so make sure you keep an eye out on it. Came here for a nice meal after doing a race up in Tahoe one weekend. Place seemed quite crowded when we arrived at around 8:30pm on a Sat evening, but most people were hanging at the bar and since we were only a party of two, it was rather easy to get seated. My buddy and I opted for the 10 oz rib-eye(a little more expensive than we expected), but it was still quite good. Didn’t really need the sauce they served it with on the side, but the sauce was home made, and provided some kick to the steak as well. Also had the spring salad which was a pretty good-sized portion and fresh. The bread is lightly salted, very good. :) Parking can be tricky, it’s in a «downtown» type area so you gotta get lucky. Ideally, that would be during off-peak hours. Good service, good food, good atmosphere. If we’re ever in the area again, I’d come back.

As promised I have to upgrade these guys to 5 stars! This place continues to be very friendly and I got a comment from someone there that was disappointed in their, as he called it, «steak fail». And he invited me to let him know when we are back again and he will do my steak again! We did go back on Aug. 8… before I heard from him… and ordered a whole chicken, that once again was beyond superb! We decided to only eat half of it, and to bring the other half home along with two additional orders of their amazing mac and cheese! We we’re thrilled to have our leftovers the next night! This place is top notch! Friendly, great atmosphere, delicious food… it is the perfect trifecta of dining out! And we will definitely be back soon and take a mulligan on my steak and will look forward to raving about it!

Some of the worst customer service I’ve ever received. After ten minutes of sitting at our table without being greeted by a server, my husband went to the bar to get us water. After another ten minutes of waiting to put our food order in, we gave it to the bartender. It wasn’t until about 45 minutes into our meal that we even met our waitress. There was no apology given, no reason for the lack of service and it wasn’t even a busy night. The food was good, not great especially considering the prices and terrible service.

I came here almost two months ago with a group of 6. I’m still thinking about this meal. That’s when you know it was an awesome restaurant. My favorite drink was the gin drink called The Garden. It was so fresh and delicious. I’m dying to get another one. I also loved the pardon peppers appetizer. The pork belly app wasn’t the best I’ve had but it was still quite tasty. I decided to go ahead and get one of their spring fresh pasta entrees and as someone who doesn’t choose pasta, like EVER, I was not disappointed. It had so many beautiful seasonal veggies in that pasta. It was amazing. Overall, our service was excellent. She was on top of everything and kept our drinks coming out in a timely fashion. There weren’t any screw ups or mishaps and everyone was happy. I’ll definitely be making another reservation here in the future.

Favorite Drinks: The Little Pal, Eagle Rare Whiskey Favorite Food: Brussel Sprouts appetizer, Butternut Mac & Cheese side. We are looking forward to becoming regulars.

3-hours to get our main dish, super slow service, food was average. We loved the vibe of the restaurant — rustic, yet modern. I came here to attend a wedding rehearsal dinner. We arrived earlier then the rest of the party and headed to the bar. The bartender is phenomenal. Very attentive and provided excellent customer service. Sadly there was about a 30-minute wait in between dishes. The menu was pre-fixed which consisted of the following: Honey Lemon Shoshito Peppers(Excellent) Jalapeño Corn Hush Puppies(dry) Arugula Pear, pecans, chèvre, grapes, walnuts, bacon vinaigrette(not bad) Butter Lettuce, parmesan salad(pretty good) New York, pine nut sage pistou(small portion and pretty tasty) Chicken, rosemary mustard(average) Brown Butter Mashed Potatoes(a must have!!) I would not recommend this place for large parties.
