This is the worst market in all of truckee. Everything is marked up at least 100%. Just because this is the only market in Tahoe donner the owner must think it’s ok to gouge the hell out of your wallets! Do not shop here. It will be well worth it for you to drive to Safeway, at lest you won’t be robbed there.

What a lovely little market! I was so pleasantly surprised by the fabulous selection of organic juices, sodas and local wine! They also have many house made products like olives and sauces! Next time I stop by I’ll make sure to try their deli sandwiches and a coffee from their coffee bar. My only reason for 4 stars was that the woman working the register was seriously rude and snotty. Barely even spoke to me and when I asked her how she was she ignored me. Awkward…

First off, the three stars is for review of the sandwiches only. The good: The people in the store were lovely, very friendly. They have a wide selection of pre-packaged things, tons of wine, beer, and snack food. The outdoor BBQ smelled good but we wanted sandwiches because we planned to eat later at the beach. Now for the bad. We ordered deli sandwiches. They literally had no taste. At first I thought maybe it was just me but daugher and hub had the same reaction. It was downright weird. No taste. We spent $ 40 on three sandwiches, a bag of chips and giant waters. Daughter and I threw away half our sandwiches. So, if you need a little general store this seems like a great place. But I do not recommend the sandwiches. At all.

Very nice service, excellent gourmet type products. Limited selection, especially of produce and prepared foods. They did appear to have a sandwich station. Sadly, there was no BBQ(and no rotisserie chickens) available the day we went(which was the main thing we came for.)

Needed lunch and did not realize that the Lodge was not open. So we tried the soup and sandwiches at the Z. Spicy thai chicken soup was excellent. Sandwiches were yummy on fresh bread and great ingredients. Even picked up a bottle of wine that we have not been able to find else where. A great experience and we will be back.

Not sure what some of these other reviewers were expecting.(If you want a $ 2 sandwich, buy some lunch meat and make it for yourself at home…) This place is great and super conveniently located, if you’re staying in Tahoe Donner. The prices are(as to be expected) higher than Safeway but if you need an aspirin, a sixpack of imported beer, a bottle of wine, a fresh sandwich or an espresso, this is the place to go. Haven’t tried the BBQ but it smells legit…

Convenient for TD folk. Good selection of products. Deli sandwiches are grossly overpriced and poorly equipped with the meats. $ 8.08 for 2 slices of turkey on a sando… ouch.

Great little market offering an excellent selection of beers(IPAs in particular) and wines. I did not have a chance to try but they are also offering deli sandwiches that are freshly made. Lots of products to save you a trip down the hill if you are staying in the Tahoe Donner area.

Total mixed bag Pros — lots of good, quality stuff. We often run down here for some last minute items when up at the cabin. The aisles are well organized and clean and most things you would NEED would be here. The BBQ on weekends is awesome! Cons — it is a bit small so sometimes things you WANT are not here and you have to go down the hill a bit to Safeway. But that is to be expected from a small shop like this. More importantly — the service at the deli is too slow. This is my main complaint, I think they could do so much better if they focused a bit more on customer service behind the counter. This is truly mixed though, some of these guys are really nice and fast, but some are not. I wish the owner would just emphasize this more with the folks they hire.

Great market. So much in such a small area. High quality products, many unusual products, and an impressive wine/spirits selection with unexpectedly reasonable prices(much better that the previous store in this location). Cute little gifty things too, plus wine gift bags for that last minute present. Check out the deli and summer BBQ!

Taking over the old Will’s market, it’s essentially the same experience. Convenient access to food and drink when you don’t want to drag yourself down the hill. I sequestered myself in the woods for a good 40 hours or so without human contact, waiting for the storm. it’s good to know that when I do this and run out of supplies I can trod, even through a blizzard. to stock up as needed.
