Ordered the Lemongrass Hot and Sour Soup for take out. What a disappointment. Small container of mostly broth, no lemongrass, a few gnarly shrimp, a scallop or two and a tiny flake of white fish. Waste of gas and money.

DONTGO!!! We walked in and walked out. This place smells like wet clothes left in the wash too long. Or more like old frying oil that hasn’t been changed for days!!! The place looks gritty and dirty and I really can’t get passed the smell!!! Only gave it one star because I couldn’t give it none.

HIBACHI!!! Love this place! Food is amazing and hibachi is always fun! They are friendly and funny! I come from Derby to Trumbull, even though there are hibachi places closer to me because it’s worth it!

It’s in a strip mall with no particular character just beer or wine and you hope you get one of the more entertaining chefs or its drag. It’s small, so families come and you hope your not at a table with someone who disapproves of the sake spray. Food is decent, but let’s face it ur not going there because it’s fine dining. The service staff needs to lighten up and make guests comfortable and welcome too uptight. Make it fun.

If you’re up for a good time, great food and friendly staff, Ichiros is for you. My family and I were there for dinner Hibachi style. The chef was funny, charstmatic and cooked up delicious food. I had the Filet Mignon with Scallops veggies and noodles. The only down side was, we were served more than we could eat, and we had take the left overs home. My car was stinky for a day.

I’ve been to this place many times and never had a bad experience — Had the Sashimi lunch and it was good. Service was good but I was also the only person there at the time.(3pm) The downside is that they have a lot of little flies everywhere so that was a bit of a turn off.

I had the worst experience at this restaurant… it is 16 degrees outside and it was 45 degrees in the restaurant… in the back near the bathrooms I saw the thermostat… it was so cold that I couldn’t get comfortable. In addition the food was tasteless and such a small portion for the price… never again.

Well visiting family in Trumbull we were craving sushi late at night. we had search Unilocal and found only a few places open we had decided to go with this restaurant we had ordered six rolls totaling $ 55 I was told delivery time would be 30 minutes delivery time ends up being approximately one hour and 15 minutes upon arrival I found a very small package with very petite rolls. After examining it turns out that there were a few rolls missing upon calling the restaurant she assured me that she had double checked and truthfully she could care less for my concerns. Overall quality of the roles were not terrible however for $ 55 there was enough food to feed maybe 2 one year olds. I had ordered two shrimp Temporel and I don’t believe more than one sprimpnwas sacrificed for this meal. I suppose they were getting tons of calls for their New Year’s resolution and we’re trying to do me a favor by skipping out on some of the calories. If you’re rich and have tons of money to spare and you want to only receive a few items of what you ordered this is the place to go however if you’re educated care about quality of food and paying for what you receive and I would says avoiding this place at all costs Natalie is the staff rude but they’re ignorant as well.

So very disappointed. Went there for habatchi tonight and while all the other habatchi customers were getting a show, we did not. Our chef was boring, never flipped the vegetables, could not get the volcano going, and no saki. Boring, boring boring and definitely not worth the money. Won’t be going back there.

This is definitely my go to take out place. Everything they make tastes absolutely amazing and gets eaten fast. I don’t have a fav dish because I try to order something new and love everything every time. Just writing this is sending my taste buds into a frenzy so they’ll be receiving my order shortly.

I’ve been going here for years, but for the first time I have no desire to ever go back. I went with my friend for a nice hibachi dinner which tasted delicious, but our chef was absolutely disgusting. After repeatedly calling us «sexy ladies», he made a very dirty joke with a piece of shrimp, made an oral sex joke with asparagus, said«your mouth turns me on», and refused to stop when pouring sake into our mouths. The manager and waitresses were very kind and apologetic about the situation, but did not seem surprised about the situation at all. I have never felt so violated to where I wanted to slap a chef, but I can honestly say I’ll never return here after this.

I been to this place once with my friends on a Saturday night. The place is unassuming and cosy, just the right kind of place to sit down and enjoy with your friends. We were particularly hungry that night and we ordered a little too much for ourselves. My favorite was definitely the spicy tuna gyoza that came in nicely shaped wantons and their paradise roll which was filled with banana and wrapped in crêpe. Definitely more unique as compared to other Japanese places I’ve been to. We didn’t get to try the teppanyaki dinner but from the sounds and smells blowing over from the next room, it is definitely something I want to sit down with my friends to enjoy the next time I go to Ichiro.

Ordered take out sushi from there last weekend, which included a roll with shrimp tempura. My boyfriend started eating the shrimp tempura roll and pulled a big long black hair out of his mouth. I don’t have black long hair and it clearly came from the sushi. After he started gagging and spit the food in the garbage, I called the restaurant to complain. I was told that there was no way it came from them because the sushi chefs have short hair. Sushi chefs are not the only ones who touch the food and there are plenty of females with long hair that work there, so to say it couldn’t have happened, is ridiculous! The lady on the phone said I’d have to text her a picture and send to her personal cell but kept denying it came from them regardless. Really, I’m supposed to dig through the garbage to dig up a hair wrapped around chewed up food?! She wasn’t apologetic about the situation and didn’t try to do anything to compensate us for what we went through or the fact that we had to throw ½ the sushi out not knowing what could be in it. Needless to say, we won’t be going back.

I was a huge fan of Ichiro. We used to eat here a couple times a month or get take out. My oldest daughter loves the Hibachi. At one point I liked as much if not more then Sakura in Westport. Management change and a complete rudeness from management like they are doing you a favor when you spend tour money there. Two recent experiences. I ordered a chicken and shrimp hibachi for delivery. Opened the box and there was no chicken. The hostess tells my wife oh well too bad we credit you next time. I called back explain the situation that the chicken is a big part of our dinner with out it we still need to order food for dinner. Her response was sorry oh well manager is not there he is making deliveries. Finally I had to get mean and nasty to get my food I paid for. Today we ride kids chicken hibachi with a extra side of hibachi noodles. What they served was mushy and over cooked and tasted so bad my kids wouldn’t eat it. I tried it and it tasted nothing like hibachi noodles. A one time favorite it not worth the lonely to spend anymore and sadly. They won’t even care losing a loyal customer.

We used to visit this place all the time but we ended up moving. Since we were in the area we stopped in for some soup and a quick bite. This place has definitely changed a lot. The soup has greatly decreased in size however the price went up. When we asked about it the gentleman at the register was rude and had no interest in hearing what we had to say. Guess we moved in time. We won’t be making any trips to this place anymore!

Went here last Sunday afternoon and walked into an empty dining room. We were seated quickly for hibachi and ordered shrimp hibachi meals. Started off with miso soup and house salad with ginger dressing. The miso soup was undesirable and tasted like last weeks soup. The ginger dressing was watery and lacked flavor and taste. On to the main course the fried rice was ok. The noodles were bland and mushy. The shrimp was crunchy and undercooked. The yum yum sauce was not yummy and was very watery and bland. I have been to numerous hibachi restaurants outside of CT and have never had a bad experience. Honestly, don’t waste your time and money. Will not go back here!

Came for lunch with my sister and mom about 2 week ago. They have a sign posted that the place is under new management and that they have 50% off sushi rolls for lunch. They have 2 – 3 different menus with different prices and they are kind of confusing and misleading. After that all gets sorted out, the food is pretty great. Sushi is fresh, iced green tea by the bottle. Pretty good bargain!

I can only comment on the Sushi. Dining in, the sushi selection is nicely presented, fresh, with sizable cuts. Take out is a different story. The cuts of Sushi and Sashimi are SOOOSMALL and you are paying the same price as Dine in. I’m not talking a slight difference it is NOTICEABLE. I’ve never really complained but I guess it ticked me off the other night when I dropped $ 64 on Sushi only to get it home and be sorely disappointed. It’s a typical move used by most sushi places unfortunately. Probably why your paper bag is stapled shut when you get it. By the time you get it home it’s too late.

While there are many Japanese restaurants that offer hibachi, they are not all created equally. We are a family of four with children that LOVE hibachi. We have tried several spots locally(Sakura in Westport, Mt Fuji in Darien, etc) and find that Ichiro is the best. The chefs range from moderately to extremely entertaining… And all prepare hibachi with an expert hand. On several occasions I order a sushi appetizer and, while I wouldn’t specifically go to Ichiro for sushi, I am never disappointed(except when they run out of Uni!) The atmosphere at Ichiro is typical of a hibachi restaurant. It gets a bit noisy, often with a high percentage of customers being children celebrating birthdays, etc. This is not recommended for a nice romantic dinner. Of course they also offer traditional, but I have never eaten on that side of the restaurant. The traditional side does not appear very welcoming… to me it looks more like a low end Chinese restaurant on the traditional side. Bottom line is that, if you’re looking for a nice Hibachi experience, give Ichiro a try. My personal favorite is scallops and filet.

I used to love this place, but tonight while sitting at the sushi bar, had a MOUSE crawl an inch from my hand. Not a few inches from all of the raw fish. Totally grossed out. Even worse was how they handled it.

If they offer you an Imported soda, do not accept!!! We thought it was something they were trying out and it was free. NOPE charged us $ 3.00 a piece And we had ordered sodas! Other than that the Hibachi was tasty, a bit expensive. They weren’t cheap with the portion either. Prob would of given it 4 stars if it wasn’t for the trick of the owner or whoever it was, most likely won’t be going there again.

Went here for a birthday. Have been to several similar locations in surrounding areas(Tombo, Tengda, Hayama). Had a bad experience at Tengda last time I had reservations and ended how waiting for 2+ hours so I decided to try this place out. First thing I noticed was the generic signage. In standard, block letter it said«ichiros hibachi» or whatever. It could have been a dentist office without the sign up. So on to what matters here. It was for a birthday so I wanted to order shots? But they don’t have liquor. Just beer and wine. Way lame. And the Sake they had in the menu made me believe that what they were describing was house made sake. Similar to what Miya’s does. But instead I was brought two small bottle of pre made sake, pre made In a factory. Disappointment. I won’t compare chefs. I ordered chicken and steak. Several people I was with ordered scallops or shrimp. When it came time to eat, all of my meat teased not like shrimp or scallops or even chicken or steak. It tastes like matter marinated in seawater. It literally just tasted like seawater. But te fried rice and noodles were good. But I won’t be back

Came back for some Hibachi lunch… shrimp and steak. Service is good, and the cook is entertaining. However it seems that the flavor of the food is not as ‘banging’ as I remembered last time I came here. Saddened that I did not leave as satisfied as I hoped for.
