Great chicken mole skewers! Great drinks. Service was a little slow. So sad this closed.

We love this place. Great for family or a date night. Super friendly service and great food. The owner has been there every time we have eaten there. She makes you feel like you are her favorite customers. The cocktails are delicious and carefully made. The food is always tasty and flavorfull. We like it so much that we have purchased gift cards to give at the holidays to friends. A great local place but also worth a trip if you are not near.

I guess this place has closed! I came to check it out, because I heard it was a good place, a friend recommended a while ago. Too bad!

came here looking for tapas and this place did not disappoint. when we left we couldn’t move between the pairing of the wine we received to the delicious tapas that we were given. everything was definitely satisfying its a small little place with great service and a well run establishment that takes pride in their food. cant wait to go back once i’m in the area again

We have been to Mambo 64 many times and it is always fantastic. The cocktails on the regular menu are amazing and they are always coming out exotic specials. Arlen’s guacamole is a must — the grapes and toasted pecans make it unique and delicious. The menu has enough variety to make it a great choice for anyone(there are fish, meat, and vegetarian options). Best of all, the ambiance is wonderful, the staff treat you like you’re their best friends, they don’t blast the music so you can actually enjoy your conversation, and the desserts are spectacular. It has become my favorite local place and everyone I’ve brought there has loved it.

Drinks were superb. Food was subpar. Carnitas were cold, although had they been hot I suspect they would have been good. Service was inattentive but a friendly guy.

Loved Arlen! She’s super sweet and awesome. Food here was also delicious. We had the specials and the jerk chicken. All were deli. The wine selection was superb as well. Highly recommend this place, especially for a romantic night out.

What a gem! My wife and I went to Mambo 64 this evening and I have to say everything, from the outstanding service, to the warm welcome from Arlen, to the fabulous sangria, to the tapas themselves was outstanding… Easily on par with many higher end environs, Mambo 64 is a wonderful, eclectic mash up of Latin cuisine that is as flavorful as it is creative, without a strong reliance on butter, oil, or heavy sauces. I would also add that the chef made some very strategic use of nuts(e.g., pecans in the guacamole) that were as surprising as they were delicious. So, in summary, save yourself a trip to the city and try Mambo 64, because that’s how far you will have to travel to find its equal. PS — A shout out to Fernando for his superlative waitering skill… you’re a real pro!

This review is really hard for me to write because we absolutely LOVED the staff, service, and ambience at Mambo 64. We were a party of four and all agreed the service was A+. From when you call to make a reservation to when you arrive and are seated ALL the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcomed and comfortable. Now, the part of the review that is hard for me to write! The same enthusiasm was sadly NOT shared by my party regarding the food and drinks. Most of the dishes were average at best. I am all for fresh herbs and seasoning in my food but there is a fine line between fresh and tasty and just bland. We ordered several apps, entrees, and desserts. Our order included a fish, shrimp, pork, steak, rib, and vegan dish. We also ordered three different desserts. There was not one dish that stood out as the shining star. I really, really wanted to love this place. But, there food and lime overloaded drinks were not enjoyed by our party. So keeing with my honest reviews, I have to say that I have definitely experienced better in terms of food and drinks. That is why I rated it a 2.

Hi Folks!, As always my wife and I like to experience what’s local as for a dining experience and Tuckahoe is a place we frequent often so we decided to give«Mambo 64» a try tonight. As a Colombian-American I’m forever in search a place that has a Latin feel in regards to ambience and obviously the cuisine so the following is my review… SERVICE: Good, service was quick and very attentive and friendly. GRADE: A FOOD: Well if you never ever been to a Tapas place before then portions are intentionally small plates of this, that, and then some. But as Mambo 64 misses the mark here. The bean dip with Pita bread was nice as a comp but then we ordered the Argentine Beef Empanadas and they were ok but 4 little pieces that if combined would barely make one empanada. So don’t expect much. Our second tapa was the Colombian Arepas with Mango Chutney, once again tiny, tiny portions and just ok…(My wife wasn’t impressed as she is accustomed to the Colombian restaurants I’ve taken for her Arepas)… and the finally and third was the Peruvian Style Chicken Skewers were once again just ok… if not for the dipping sauce then say just bland so in a nutshell portions are really small for a tapas place and nothing to be like wowed about. Now granted I’ve been to Spain twice and going again in a few months and it would be a bit unfair to compare real Spanish tapas to anywhere else but be warned Mambo 64 again, misses the mark. GRADE: C DRINK: Nice selection of wines, cocktails and such… pricey to say though $ 8 and up for a glass/cocktail aka Manhattan prices Red Sangria $ 9.00 Dominican Hurricane Cocktail $ 8 GRADE: C+ AMBIANCE: Cute little joint, Salsa and latin music as background music and nice décor, but definitely reserve as there is limited seating at bar and tables. GRADE: A LOCATION: As for getting there there are many options, if your a local like us you can walk or you can grab the #8 Bee-line bus or the Metro North Tuckahoe Station that are just around the corner. Driving is ok, street parking is the only option as the place has no parking available but don’t see it as a major problem. Grade: B PRICING: Pricey for area and place… Empanadas $ 8.50 Chicken Skewers $ 8 Arepas $ 8 White Rice $ 5(for small plate of white rice, really?!) GRADE: C– So overall I can see us maybe going for a drink or two but nothing much else. FINALGRADE: C (Hence the two Star Unilocal Rating: Meh. I’ve experienced better.) Cheers and Happy Dining! J

Should’ve known this place would be a did after tasting the mashed beans – I mean complimentary bean dip. Its served with pita crisps and is lacking so much flavor. I got a few tapas to share including the arepas(bland), cheese puffs(ok, but with a strange dipping sauce), salad(good) and gambas al ajillo(the wine didn’t cook off). We also got the jerk chicken entrée. It was a pale blond color — the first sign of trouble. Jerk chicken is supposed to be dark w/spices. It tasted like a barely seasoned roasted chicken. I’ll concur that it was moist but with the salad being the best tasting dish at Mambo 64 means we won’t be back. I must say that it’s a lively, lovely joint with great staff though.

Pros: great cocktails! Beautiful décor and ambiance. Cons: super slow service. I can’t say it any other way. It took 10 mins to order drinks and another ten to get them. Over all the food was okay, I really expected intense flavors but I’d say it was more mediocre.

Walking to Tuckahoe’s Padre Pio festival, the family and I noticed this Latin American addition to the neighborhood. After surveying the festival and finding the food options limited, we decided to come back around and have some tapas. We were sad to learn that sandwiches are only served during Lunch(Brian was craving a Cuban), but we were able to find some great bites(Tapas) to split. Unlike the behemoths I am used to cooking and eating, their Argentinian-style beef empanadas were popper-sized morsels packed with flavor(the chimichurri dipping sauce didn’t hurt!). Carnitas are probably my favorite latin dish, and theirs was rich in flavor with a pop from the corn salsa. The arepas with mango chutney were light and sweet and the salmon and roasted pepper ceviche was refreshing(though I would have preferred smaller pieces of salmon — but that’s just a personal preference). Our waiter could not have been friendlier and the owner stopped by frequently to play with our son and make sure the food and service were to our liking.
